16 – (Season 1) Training with a Bone
Day 2
Logging into champion, Jim decided to buy a 7 day pass for private rooms that included sound insulation to prevent the public from streaming his practice sessions. People were crowded around the training rooms but no one recognized Jim thanks to his Cloak which hid his username.
Jim repeated his training method from yesterday. Stretching the muscles using mana was significantly more effective than simple weight training. All three egos tried to not only stretch the muscles, but once the muscle fibers were broken, they spend 5 minutes to pack as much mana from the skin to the muscles. Jim could tell he was close to a breakthrough. Even though he was not level 20, he could feel close to reaching tier 1. Jim contemplated, can you reach tier 1 even through other methods.
While champion awarded tiers to levels breaks in increments in 20 levels, that was not the only way to break tiers. Players in the past consistently broke through tiers even if there level did not meet the requirements. The more he thought about it, what was the point of tiers. Certain criteria’s must be met to reach tiers, mostly it should be related to damage output.
Jim checked the settings in the practice room. One of the ways that people checked their tiers is through the practice dummy in the practice arena. This was the least effective way to know your tier as the practice dummy only tells you if you reached a certain tier. In later seasons of champions, players could tell by sparring whether they reached certain tiers. There were rumors about items and certain training grounds. This led to Popular ranking lists that were published and always caused a debate.
Once the practice dummy was created, Jim started by creating his signature mana blade. He swung his sword at the practice dummy. Surprisingly, he was able to slice through it. After a couple of seconds, the practice dummy displayed tier 0. Jim was unable to reach tier 1.
With a burning spirit, Adam wanted to give it a try. He started running and made a leap yelling mountain hammer. After the dust settled, the practice dummy displayed the same score. Adam was in disbelief that he didn’t reach tier 1. Jim asked Jake if he could start praying to test after he was buffed. After receiving a 20% buff, Jim could feel power welling up in his muscles. He slashed at the practice dummy, and was able to slice the dummy in half. Jim concluded that he was missing between 10-20% power between his strike. Either he needed a better weapon or a buff from Jake in order to have tier 1 damage. Jim was confident that he could reach tier 1 before the Burning Chicken raid. After training for another 5 hours Jim left the practice arena and headed back to the night market.

After searching all the vendors, there was no blue chicken in sight. Jim asked the vendors where chickens could be found. They pointed to the forests south of apple town. There are mixed monsters there but sometimes chickens are flocking in groups down there. Jim thanked the vendors and headed south of town.
Jim summoned his clones and went in three separate directions looking for a blue chicken. After meeting meeting back in 30 minutes, they searched the plains for chickens. No one brought a blue chicken.
Jim “I can’t believe no one found a blue chicken. Did you guys look hard enough”
Jake and Adam “There was nothing but regular brown chickens”
Jake was annoyed and took his bone and smacked a nearby goblin that was running to attack them. After killing the goblin, the corpse was lying on the floor with blood spilling. All of a sudden, the bone started shaking and the blood from the goblin slowly started to move toward the bone. Jim and Jake stared at the bone with disbelief.
Jake and Jim “What was that. How did you do that”
Adam “I don’t know”
Adam was just as puzzled to see the bone gathering blood. In a few seconds, meat was growing on the bone. After 5 seconds the bone looked like a turkey leg. As Jake and Jim was puzzled, he asked Adam to take a bite of it.
Adam chowed down on the meat.
Adam “I don’t feel anything different…”
After a couple of seconds, a system notification popped up.
System notification: Do you want to change into the monster that was killed?
Everyone’s jaw dropped open. This was a gold mine.
Adam accepted the change. Adam slowly started to morph into the goblin he killed. Almost everything was the same, from the clothes to the armor and weapon, everything was copied. When the goblin spoke, Jim and Jake could tell that it was speaking in its foreign tongue. However, they all knew what Adam was saying as their brains were connected through the brain junction. There was a countdown for 24 hours before the morph would change him back to Adam. Adam did not want to be a goblin for 24 hours so he cancelled the transformation. They found an option to maintain 3 monsters and each one could be overwritten. The weapon and armor on the goblin disappeared with the goblin.
Jim “Interesting, this is the first I have heard of this. This bone must be something special.”
After discussing the possibilities of the bone Jim decided to stay in the forest and watch where the chickens would go home to sleep. After waiting for 1 hour, the chickens started to form a group and started walking to a cave. Jim marked the cave in his memories before he saw the notification that he has to log off.
