11 - (season 1) Finding a group for Team raids
As Jim logged off, he started looking for a group to run team raids. Currently, there was only one Raid boss available in Champion. Burning Chicken was the first available raid for season 1. Currently no one has successfully raided burning chicken as the difficulty of a new raid boss mixed with the start of a new game has players trying to learn its patterns and weaknesses.
Burning Chicken had a party limit of 5 people and generally required players averaging level 20. Judging by forum posts, the average player level is around 15 with Jim well below the average player at level 10. His journey to the slime kingdom and practicing his skills took valuable time from hunting; however, Jim knew that he was closer to level 20 in terms of attack power.
Level 20 was a turning point for players as they would be bumped to tier 1 upon their first class promotion. Every 20 levels would provide an increase in tiers all the way to level 100. Each increase in tier would significantly increase skill damage and allow you to earn and invest your skill points toward your class specific skills. What players dont know right know is how valuable skill points are when you advance in tiers. Players would foolishly spend their class specific skill points as soon as they get promoted in tiers. This might seem logical now, but as they advance to tier 5 and above, they will notice that high level class specific skills are outside of what they can purchase with their skills. Although the system will let you refund your class specific points at the end of a season, it is normally discounted to 75% of the original value. In the end, you would still lose a good chunk of class specific skill points.
Jim had to carefully consider not spending any skill points until tier 6 if he wanted to obtain high level class specific skills.
As Jim was looking for team members in the champion forums, he found a lot of people looking to form teams, however, since it was just the forums, he couldn't tell how capable players would be until they practiced together. Therefore, he decided to head into hunting grounds to look for promising candidates. After giving up his search online, Jim went to Bed.
The next morning, Jim logged on in search of reliable teamates. There were groups of players roaming in small teams and rarely any players moved alone other than Jim. Nobody caught Jim's eye as all the teams were newbies. As he was searching for teamates, he stumbled upon someone's stream as they tried to recruit Jim into a party. He politely declined as they would be holding him back. As soon as he was about to leave, Jim was surrounded by 10 players. He instantly recognized the intent to kill exuding from the 10 cloaked players.
“Surrender your weapons if you want to live” a burly cloaked player said with hostility.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
The streamer didn't want to die and lose his hard earned xp, so he was going to pay the burly cloaked Man. Before you could say anything else Jim intervened and replied “not interested”.
All of the cloak figures started laughing out loud. some of them even the discussed amongst themselves if he should kill Jim first. all nine of the club players looked towards a burly cloaked figure and asked if they wanted to eliminate Jim first.
Two figures started running up to Jim with swords in their hands. Both of them raised their swords with the intention to swing the sword down with all of their might.
Jim quickly dashed in front of them and swung his sword horizontally at their necks and slashed their heads off instantly decapitating them. The remaining cloaked figures gasped in astonishment.
All of the cloaked figures started to take this fight seriously and surround Jim in a circle. Jim could easily use his clones to kill the remaining group quickly; however, he didn’t want to reveal his trump cards, especially when there was a streamer recording nearby.
Jim quickly turnaround and started running toward two of the cloaked figures. Using the element of surprise, he quickly started rotating the mana in the air around his sword to spin in one direction creating a mana blade. He quickly sliced through the cloaked figures arms and eventually their necks.
The remaining six figures started retreating as fast as they could as they instintively knew that they were no match for the monster.
The players that Jim saved came up to express their gratitude.
“No thanks are needed” as he starting moving to search for more team members.
Jim did not realize it at the moment, but the streamer that he had saved was live streaming the whole fight. Eventually, this caught the eye of established guilds and stronger independent teams.
Jim started getting notifications left and right to his inbox. Jim quickly scrolled through all of them and threw most of them in the trash. Although a few guild invites caught his eye, he didn't want to be bound to a guild he knew nothing about.
After trashing more guild invites, Jim did pause to read a message send by Blue Moon. As he recalled blue moon was a respected player in the future and even managed to secure a spotlight in future champion tournaments. While Blue moon was a swordsman, he was not the strongest swordsman but his character was well respected. He easily placed within the top 100 swordsman class.
Blue Moon invited Sera to participate in raiding Burning Chicken in 20 days.
Jim wasn't surprised as they were probably close to level 15 and wanted to advance to level 20 to reach tier 1 and have access to class specific skills to increase their chances in successfully completing the raid. Jim replied and agreed to meet Blue Moon in the training center in apple town.
Once Jim reached the training center, he met Blue Moon waiting for him there. Blue Moon greet Sera and introduced them to Jim.
Blue Moon: swordman lvl 15.
Butter: Tank lvl 15
Carrot: mage lvl 15
Link: Spearman lvl 15
“Thank you for taking your time to meet me here today Sera”
“Since you are here, you must be interested in raiding Burning Chicken for the first clear.” Blue moon asked Sera.
“I am interested” Jim replied.
“Good, I would like you to spar with each one of us to check how strong your are and how well we could work together” Blue moon asked politely.
“I don't mind, this will also allow me to test your skills” Jim responded.
Everyone other than Blue Moon was insulted as they thought Blue Moon made a mistake to ask for Sera to participate in the raid. His level was only at level 10 creating a large gap of strength, speed, intelligence... between each member. Link did not mind the challenge and volunteered to go first.
Both Jim and Link stepped onto the practice arean.
