Chapter 79. A MAD Phantom Stranger

Chapter 79. A MAD Phantom Stranger

He was back to the present, back in the New York Sanctum, his body and essence both pulling out of the Eye of Agamotto.

It had been quite a journey to the future, where he had seen the end. Utopia-616 was a world the OmniSight Aegis had created to fullfil everyone's desires, despite the consequences.

Utopia-616 was a broken society of the hive mind extended from the Collective Conscious, and Doctor Strange intended to stop it's creation. He had to change the end.

In the Sanctum, Doctor Strange was surrounded by Natasha, Abnegazar, and the beam of energy representing the OmniSight Aegis.

But he was experienced enough to detect a lurking presence from beyond the shadows.

"Natasha." Doctor Strange had an important message for the apprentice. "I need you to do something that will largely impact the future."

He turned to look at the Prime Guardian. He was now composed and as ugly as ever. Strange was glad about that. It was better than seeing the demon weep in front of him.

He understood why, but he rather he didn't. But for the first time ever, he applauded the efforts of Razake to recruiting the Demons Three to becoming the Prime Guardians.

He had faith that they would do well to stand against the OmniSight Aegis, and probably a trump card to defeat the energy mass.

"I cannot let go of the bond that keeps you as my guardians." Strange said to Abnegazar. "But I know that I can use your soullessness to save the future. You just need some guidance."

He turned to address Natasha once again. "Have you mastered the Soul Weaver's spell?"

He has come to acknowledge her avid natured and desire to surpass her master. She had mastered as much as she could, but she was hesitant to accept.

"Why?" Natasha asked, wondering if Doctor Strange had forgotten about the shifting energies in the energy beam before them.

"So, you have." Strange said. "You speak with the tone of someone's who's afraid of the potential and consequences."

"But don't worry." Strange said. "I'll lend you the energy necessary to complete the spell."

"You want me to weave a soul?" Natasha asked with a great uncertainty. "I know the spell, but I'm not sure I have the energy required to complete it."

"That's why I said I'd..." Strange cut himself short to ponder on what had just transpired.

It felt like the time was lagging, and he was slipping back and forth, having reassured Natasha before she voiced her uncertainty.

"Okay." Strange said as he uncloaked the watch on his wrist. "I've been into the future, and I've seen you do it."

He extended it to Natasha and gave the instructions. "Take this watch and channel it's energy for the spell. Then, at the Broken stage of the spell, weave the broke soul into Abnegazar."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Abnegazar objected. "If you're gonna speak about using me for something, then let me in on it."

"You lost your will to me." Strange said, hushing the demon. "You have no voice, and no choice in the matter."

"So, I'll not complete the spell?" Natasha asked.

"No." Strange replied. "Make sure to stop at the Broken stage."

Natasha hesitated while digesting her new instructions.

"Well..." Strange stared back at her as if expecting her to do something. "What are you waiting for? The fate of this world depends on it. Go!"

Natasha and Abnegazar rushed to act on the Soul Weaver spell in the meditation chamber of the Sanctum.

Strange watched as they left before closing his eyes and quickly jumping into the Astral Plane. He levitated and turned with a confident pose to address the presence he had sensed lurking from beyond.

"Didn't think I'd get to see you again." The presence behind him said before Strange could talk. "But you just had to mess the one piece of great thing I chose to teach the Prime Sorcerer."

"I was hoping I could find you." Strange said with his eyes locking to the Stranger's eyes. "Phantom Stranger."

"Do you know how you did it?" The Phantom Stranger asked as his silver necklace glimmered in the flow of the Astral Plane. He had his usual hat and coat on, with the black cape extending from the coat.

"Did what?" Strange asked.

"Which one am I talking to?" The Phantom Stranger asked. "Razake, or, Doctor Strange?"

"Technically, both." Strange replied.

"You are bold. You must be the latter." The Phantom Stranger said. "Which means that I'm not wrong to accuse you for destroying a precious secret!"

The Astral Plane shifted as the Phantom Stranger shattered the reality by merely getting annoyed with Doctor Strange. It felt as if a rapid earthquake had spread through out the reality with a powerful magnitude.

"You really need to calm down a bit." Strange said on seeing how terrifying the Phantom Stranger was. "Tell me what you are accusing me of."

The Phantom Stranger calmed and looked at Doctor Strange, recognizing a massive power deference. Before him was one that was greater than he was - the Prime Sorcerer.

That was why he had only shared his greatest power with him, knowing that he could be the only other capable of using it. But he didn't know that it would end up becoming such a mess.

"I'm a mystery to many, but I demystified myself a bit to the Prime Sorcerer." The Phantom Stranger narrated. "Those who know of me, know that I'm nigh Omniscient."

"Why do you think?" The Phantom Stranger asked Doctor Strange.

"Because it's your power, perhaps?" Strange replied.

"Of course." The Phantom Stranger sounded disappointed. "You wouldn't know. You never bothered to explore when I led you on. If I had know that your conscious had split, I would have never taught you in the first place."

Doctor Strange was really confused. He had absolutely no clue what this guy was talking about. When did he teach him stuff to begin with?

"I'm honestly lost here." Doctor Strange confessed.

The entire astral plane literally shook as The Phantom Stranger barked his next words. "The Collective Conscious!"

Everything became fluid and wavy as Strange realized what he was being accused of.

"Oh..." Strange didn't know the words to use. "That."

"You were never meant to access the Collective Conscious on your own. Not without the Will of Prime!" The Phantom Stranger. "When you did, you left an astral part of you in the Collective Conscious that connected with the OmniSight Aegis!"

"I'm sorry." Strange was beginning to feel guilty. "I thought that it was a natural thing to do. I honestly didn't know."

"Yes. The OmniSight Aegis and whatever it's doing is your fault." The Phantom Stranger ascertained. "But that's none of my concern."

"What??" Strange didn't get this guy at all.

"Your fate has already been doomed, Doctor Strange." The Phantom Stranger continued. "And so is the fate of the Prime Sorcerer."

"Soon, you shall meet him." The Phantom Stranger said. "He calls himself Vengeance."

"The Spectre?" Strange wondered.

"When all is lost, however." The Phantom Stranger said. "You must use your power for good, and save all of existence by renouncing the title of the Prime Sorcerer."

"Why?" Strange asked.

"And then reunite the fragmented conscious." The Phantom Stranger ignore Doctor Strange.

"But most importantly." The Phantom Stranger continued. "I need you to save the Collective Conscious from total corruption by the OmniSight Aegis."

"How do I do that?" Doctor Strange asked with still a million questions in his mind.

"It's simple." The Phantom Stranger said. "You'll have to let Chaos take control once again so that he can activate the Ultimate Spell.

"Will that solve everything?" Doctor Strange asked.

"No." The Phantom Stranger said. "You still have to complete your plan with the Justice League, so that Zurak can be stopped."

"Zurak?" Doctor Strange's head was now steaming with exhaustion from information overload.

"I'm sorry for doing this to you." The Phantom Stranger said. "Even though you make me mad, I pity how your story may end."

"Zurak is the only god of anti-magic, locked by Nabu eternally into the depths of the multiverse, where no magic exists." The Phantom Stranger explained. "As it's natural, he hates all magic, but he was put into slumber for eternity, unless magical energy could wake him up."

"That was until recently, when Loki's charm made it through the Dense Atmosphere of Space and woke Zurak up." The narration continued. "That was possible because it's magic not from this multiverse. It was impossible for a magic user to cross the Dense Atmosphere before, but that happened."

"Now, Zurak is coming to reclaim his relics that make him complete, and all magic will perish under his wrath." The Phantom Stranger said. "But that is, if he passes through the Dense Atmosphere, which I definitely know he will."

"That's... Too much to take in." Doctor Strange admitted.

"Well... Zurak is the entire existence's problem, even the Marvel Multiverse!" The Phantom Stranger said.
