"Quite a lot has changed since I have been gone." Zatanna observed as a I approached her at the entrance into the Sanctum.
"I was hoping you would like it." I said to her as I greeted her.
"Well, I don't hate it, Doctor Strange." She said, while taking my hand.
"Sorry that my visit was on short notice. But I was coming home, wasn't I?" Zatanna said.
"Of course." I replied, acknowledging that the Greenpoint Sanctum was originally her place of "command". But there was no debate as to who owned it now. I had taken the liberty to fill the void as to who claimed ownership of the public space, even going as far as to prepares the papers.
"Come in and tell me what you have discovered." I said to her, gesturing for her to lead the way into the Sanctum.
"Oh. I mustn't stay for long, Doctor Strange. "Zatanna said. "I only came here to retrieve the Scroll."
"It's still in the Sanctum, isn't it?" Zatanna asked.
"Well, about that..." I started. "There has been a slight hiccup."
"What do you mean?" Zatanna said, her expression changing to that of shock. "You didn't lose it, did you? I told you not to remove it from the astral plane."
"And I didn't...I couldn't." I objected.
"So what happened?" She asked. "How did you lose it?"
"Someone else took it." I answered. "A dark sorcerer who has crossed paths with one of it's earlier forms."
"Dark sorcerer? What's the name of this sorcerer?" Zatanna asked, her expression bewildering with every passing moment.
"Felix Faust." I replied. "He had the ability to manipulate anti-magic, and that's how he got it from the astral plane."
"Anti-magic?" Zatanna asked in surprise, but a little observation, I noticed that her expression was more that of realization.
"Yes. But more with a Nthirium crystal, an artifact." I explained.
"But still," Zatanna started, "one cannot grip the crystal without this."
She produced a book she had cloaked with her magic. I examined it closely from where I stood, observing the symbols and the colors.
"The Book of Thoth." I said, more to myself. "How did you find it?"
"You know of it?" She asked. "A friend gave it to me."
"A friend?" I asked, becoming suspicious. "Why do you want the Scroll?"
"The scroll can open portals to dimensions across the multiverse and time. If it falls in the wrong hands, they can use it to cause the collapse of the multiverse." Zatanna explained.
"Why would anybody want that?" I asked, pondering on the implications of what that meant. "They wouldn't have anywhere to live after that. I doubt Felix would be that stupid."
"When someone without the right credentials required to use it, uses it's power, that will bring upon chaos in the multiverse. Not that they would know that, however." Zatanna explained. "But Felix Faust isn't the one you should be worried about. There are worse forces that will sense it, now that it's out in the open, and come for it."
"Other forces? You mean like the Homo Magi?" I asked. "Your mother?"
Zatanna went quiet, then said. "You lied to me, Doctor Strange. You are not who you say you are."
Stolen story; please report.
"I never did." I countered. "I am the Prime Sorcerer, and it's my destiny to wield the Scroll of Dimensions and more. You still haven't told me what exactly you want with the scroll. You have barely scratched the surface of what's in your mind."
"I know you mean us no harm, but I know that you are not from this Universe, neither anywhere from this Multiverse." Zatanna said. "You are what that caused the portals to appear in Greenpoint. Your presence here threatens to collapse our Multiverse."
"And so you shall use the Scroll to banish me back to my Multiverse?" I deduced.
"Yes." Zatanna replied. "I hope you understand why. After all, you are a Supreme Sorcerer."
"Jokes on you." I said. "I come from different Multiverses."
"The Will of Prime will stay behind. He can exist harmoniously in any multiverse, provided that he is in the body of a supreme sorcerer." Zatanna said. "He is the only thing keeping you from reaping apart out world."
"You haven't learnt about the Prime Sorcerer, haven't you?" I asked. "How do you intend to extract the will from me."
"With the necessary ingredients in place, nothing is impossible. You know that, as much as I do." Zatanna said.
"What if Prime chooses to stay in this body?" I asked. I am his favorite after all. He chose this body first."
"It's not a matter of choice. It's a matter of duty." Zatanna said.
Something about that set Razake off. A strong sense of duty dulled the whole adventure. He had grown to like the impulses that came with being Doctor Strange.
But what about the chance to explore other Supreme Sorcerers? Doctor Fate for instance.
"Who is the current Doctor Fate?" I asked. "Kent Nelson?"
"That's besides the point." Zatanna said. "You won't be possessing his body, Prime."
Zatanna continued. "You caused a timeline crisis while the world was in the middle of another timeline crisis. While you managed to effectively change several fates, causing beings and things to exist where they shouldn't, some facts still remain."
"I am the Supreme Sorcerer, and I will be taking the will of Prime from you, Doctor Strange." Zatanna revealed, amidst the information overload.
But that gave me a sense of the timeline, and the world I was living in. The world after the Flashpoint. But how had Zatanna come to know all of this? Where had she gone to?
Wait...I was forgetting the highlight of what she had just said. I would be possessing her?!
My blood boiled in my body at the thought of this. Zatanna wasn't exactly that much young in this story, probably in her thirties, but she was still hot. How hadn't I seen things this way for so long?
The mere thought of possessing her body made my thoughts wander into distant lands. That would be breathtaking, but still. I liked being in the body of Doctor Strange.
With the handsome looks I had, and a little push of will, I was an effective ladies man, and I had come to enjoy the experience. I wouldn't want that to be taken away from me, even at the thought of exploring something else for a while.
What if Zatanna found a way to seal me permanently in her body, if I chose to posses her. I couldn't risk that. I preferred to keep my will, without the constant judgement of her consciousness.
I liked my harmony with Doctor Strange. He understood me, and I understood him perfectly. Poor lonely guy, with an undying love for Christine. I had felt his heart shatter into pieces when he realized that in the infinite multiverse, him and Christine never really worked out.
On the bright side, that only gave him a chance to lose control of his emotional conflictions to me...the hopeless guy, who now had the confidence to talk to any woman, as I pleased.
"Prime and I agree, that this is the right choice for the Prime Sorcerer." I said, affirming my choice of Doctor Strange. "You must agree too, because I do not wish to fight you."
"It will never come to that." Zatanna said. "We both want the same thing. Peace."
"And there's no peace without war?" I asked, trying to understand what she meant. But I felt good that she understood that I could crush her in a second. Especially now with my anti-magic and the Vishanti...and the Demons Three power, just to name a few.
Zatanna chuckled. "We need to retrieve the Scroll of Dimensions first. Then, the rest will follow."
"Oh right." I remembered about Felix. "I will retrieve the Scroll from Felix and master its powers. You should trust me, because I managed to stop the portals from appearing, even without the help of the scroll."
"But I'll be sure to keep the scroll from you, and the Book of Thoth." I added, hinting at my already possession of the book.
"Well played." Zatanna said. "I barely sensed the swap."
She looked at the illusion copy of the book in wonder. It looked exactly as the book of Thoth, but she then dispersed of the illusion.
"How did you manage to do that?" She asked.
"It's just a reminder of my power." I replied. "If I wanted to wreak havoc, I would have destroyed the whole world by now."
"Let's hope it doesn't come to that then." Zatanna said. "But I already knew you would try to take the book, since you sensed it's value. That's why I never brought the original."
"I took the book out from my cloaking spell and checked it out. It was blank, and the cover was a fake. I had stolen the book, thanks to the powers of the Time Stone.
"I would expect nothing less from a Sorcerer Supreme." I said as Zatanna dispersed away with a flick of her fingers.
"See you soon, Doctor Strange." She left her goodbyes in the winds.
I turned to go back into the Sanctum. First, I would sleep, and then think my plan through.
