Chapter 50. Kryptonians & Anti-magic

Chapter 50. Kryptonians & Anti-magic

"I've got the crystal." Kara said as she entered into the Star Labs office space. She had the Nthirium crystal clutched in her hand.

The room was a hive of activity, filled with various members of the superhero community who seemed to have been engaged in a conversation.

Barry Allen, the Flash, was leaning against a table, studying a piece of paper that looked ancient, with the help of Tina McGee.

"...A fusion of of biology and magic!" Kara caught a glimpse of Barry's and Tina's conversation as she entered.

"Let me have that." Cisco said as he approached Kara, beckoning her to put the crystal on a mechanical hand he had.

"Where did you get it?" Caitlin asked Kara, coming closer.

"I took it from two sorcerers who were fighting for it. It seemed to be the right call." Kara replied.

"No doubt one of them was the Prime Sorcerer, now calling himself the Supreme Sorcerer." Barry murmured.

"And the magic didn't affect you?" Caitlin continued.

"No it didn't." Kara replied.

"Something entirely different happened, on the contrary, but I'm not sure about it yet." Kara added.

"Do tell us. What happened?" Cisco beckoned, his curiosity piqued.

"It had this familiar feel that I get from exposure to sunlight. Faint, but familiar." Kara said, almost nostalgically.

Barry's senses were tickled and he left his table, using his powers to close in on Kara.

"Jeez Barry." Tina complained.

"Do you think that this thing could undo what happened to Superman. If so, let's alert the rest of the Justice League as soon as possible." Barry said.

"Hold your horses there Barry." Caitlin said. "We don't know anything yet. What does it do anyway."

"Nthirium crystal," Cisco began his technical narration, "ancient as they come, is one of the mysteries of the universe; or multiverse."

"It's said to be a compound of the Nth metal from Thanagra, and we know how that goes." Cisco continued. "But perhaps what makes it even more unique is its ability to take away magic power. Once it does that to a sorcerer, or witch, it can't be undone."

"Can it take away superpowers too?" Barry asked.

"That I do not know." Cisco replied. "But what I know, is the fact that if this crystal is kept in one place for too long, it starts causing chaos. I'm talking mind control, reality manipulation, etc, etc... Basically anything magic can do, but chaotically."

"The irony of an anti-magic crystal." Caitlin observed.

"So, how do we keep it from doing that?" Tina asked.

"While sorcerers believe that magic isn't a scientific phenomenal, I beg to differ. Anything can be explained scientifically, and we will use it's anti-magic properties to keep it from doing magic." Cisco mused.

"Can't anyone see the obvious?" Barry asked. "We can use anti-magic to remove the magic agonizing Superman."

"Kara said it." Barry continued. "Anti-magic empowered her, just like the sun."

"I didn't say anything like that, exactly." Kara defended in murmurs.

"It makes sense that magic takes away their power and anti-magic giving them more... But it's still all hypothetical." Cisco said. "We don't know that far ahead yet."

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

"You guys think you know everything about Kryptonians, don't you?" Kara pitched.

"We know what that matters, Kara." Caitlin said.

"Trial and error." Barry suggested. "We could use it to try and help Superman, but if it doesn't work, we'll know. What's the worst that could happen?"

"We could do that, but what if something else, unprecedented happens?" Cisco argued in emphasis.

"It's the goddamn Man of Steel. Nothing can happen to him." Barry shot back.

"Yet he still lies in a comma." Cisco argued back.

The tension in the room, particularly between Barry and Cisco was rising.

"Guys, guys." Kara stopped them. "We all want to help Clark. Especially considering that he is my cousin. But we can't do that while arguing with each other, and risking being affected by the crystal. We need to figure it out first."

"Kara has got a point." Caitlin said. "And so does Cisco, Barry."

"We can't risk doing what is unknown to us, until we demystify the Nthirium crystal." She added.

"What if we ask for the help of Doctor Strange? He might know something about the crystal, having been around it for so long and yet it didn't affect him." Barry asked.

"It didn't take away his magic, did it?" He turned to Kara.

"I don't think so. When we met, he still could do magic, but I didn't stay around the sanctum for too long to figure out if he still had his magic." Kara explained.

"But he still managed to keep watch over the crystal for so long, keeping it from being destructive." Cisco thought out loud.

"But he didn't know what the crystal was." Kara said.

"And yet, it didn't affect him. That's remarkable." Tina s

observed.

"I agree with Barry, we should consult the Sorcerer Supreme, or Prime Sorcerer, or, Doctor Strange... Whatever he is called. Maybe he knows something we don't." Cisco said.

"Have you established that he is not a threat?" Cisco asked. "Or whether he is from this universe or not, or he is just some trans-dimensional freak."

"The Justice League, even Batman, and especially Wonder Woman, agree that he's alright." Barry said. "We have been keeping tabs on him, and despite ignoring the consequences of his actions, he's okay, playing hero in New York City."

"Word has it that he has been recruiting more sorcerers while playing a superhero." Kara said.

"What about you Barry, do you trust him?" Caitlin asked.

"Honestly, I keep thinking that he may be a product of my misgivings." Barry replied, in regret. (Misgivings - the Flashpoint)

(New York Sanctum)

The streets of Greenpoint looked normal in the broad daylight, as if nothing had happened to them, thanks to our collective efforts of cleaning up the mess.

With the help of my apprentices, we had finished rebuilding the sanctum, and accessing the stolen items from the sanctum.

I didn't take this as a major setback, but instead a chance to even expand my reach into the world. I needed more sorceress to be trained in the art of guarding my precious sanctums.

Why? To keep guard of my OmniSight Aegis and my collection of relics. That, and the fact that I wanted to grow even more powerful, now that I had achieved Absolution.

That started with the Demons Three. Without hesitation, I had stolen away their power, integrating it with mine. Since I wasn't in Marvel, I didn't expect for anyone to come accusing me of meddling with dark forces and the consequences of my actions and...blah, blah, blah.

I had set my eyes on even greater prizes. With the Vishanti by my side, a book of rich spells that would give me access to even greater magic, I had a new goal. I would get its antithesis - The Darkhold - before Wanda Maximoff, from whatever universe decided to destroy every alternate and copy of it.

I had lost the Scroll of Dimensions somehow to Felix Faust. Even after countless times of trying to grab it from the astral plane, I hadn't been successful at getting it, yet he managed to take it. Maybe it's because he had anti-magic on his side then, but now, so did I.

I had reconnected back to magic, and even stopped using the sling ring again, giving it back to Natasha after returning her magic powers to her. That was a gift from anti-magic. I could give or take away magic now, thanks to Felix Faust and the Nthirium.

Felix Faust had wandered away into the city of New York, then to Gotham, where I eventually lost his signal. Maybe he has detected my OmniSight Aegis or used anti-magic to cloak himself, or something else, but we were not done.

He had taken away a precious thing from me, and I would take it back! I needed to master the scroll of dimensions since it was my quest, but I also desired the power to travel through dimensions and time. I could go anywhere I wanted with that.

I needed to take it back from Felix before he figured out a way to master it. There was always a loophole, and I couldn't tolerate him finding one with my destiny.

I was now torn in between finding my scroll, finding the Tower of Fate and the Book of Thoth, and building my Sanctums, while recruiting sorcerers.

"Master Strange." Natasha said as she approached me. I hadn't believed that she had stayed with me after what I had put her through. For Itadori, however, that was too much, and we parted our ways, saying our goodbyes. Nathan's signal was however still in the Sahara Desert. "Someone is outside waiting for you."

"Tell her I will be out in a minute." I said, looking through the eye of Agamotto.

"And it's Doctor S..." I tried to correct. "Never mind."

Zatanna was back, and I didn't know how she would take the news that I had lost the Scroll, after I had assured her that I would protect it.

What about the Sanctum? Would she love the new look?
