Chapter 64. Doctor Strange vs. Lex

Chapter 64. Doctor Strange vs. Lex

The collective conscious, a sea of vast thoughts, each woven together like a fine tunic. By focusing on what Doctor Strange was thinking, I could contact him with my location and alert him to the Lex situation.

His thoughts were either stuck to finding a red Cloak of Levitation, or unblocking his Chakra. Time had slowed down, and my focus was fine tuning the frequencies of the Collective Conscious in search of Doctor Strange, gradually anticipating what his other thoughts.

Perhaps he was even thinking about me.

Slowly, the sea of thoughts tuned, guided by my desire. Gently, billions of thoughts crossed my mind as the number grew smaller. And finally, I crossed with his thoughts.

"He is still too uncertain to guide how this story goes. When I take over, I will realize the destiny of the Prime Sorcerer sooner and faster. The fate of the Crossover is at sway, especially with Loki on the lose. He probably knows about the scrolls in this multiverse too, and he is probably on his own selfish quest to get them." The thoughts of Doctor Strange caught my attention.

What was he talking about? Was he staging a coup against my conscious or something?

"I hear something." His thoughts went on. "It's familiar. What is it. It's trying to reach out to me. Could it be?"

Suddenly, Doctor Strange appeared before me in the astral plane. But since I was so tuned into the collective conscious, I could still hear his thoughts.

"My Cloak." He wondered. "In the astral plane all by itself? It's sentient but, it's not like it can do magic. This must be something more. The will of Prime perhaps?"

"Razake." He called out. "Are you one with the Cloak?"

I couldn't do magic in the astral plane, but I needed to communicate to him about Lex and my whereabouts. For that, I needed him to tune into the collective conscious. If he could do that, he must have unblocked his chakra.

"You can't speak, of course." He deduced. "Perhaps I can communicate to you through your thoughts. Using telepathy. Just think and I will know."

That was easier. And Doctor Strange could read mind after all.

Okay, I thought out my message. "I am in the place where the Sanctum is located back in New York, about to be captured by Led. I think that since you know the place, you can open the portal to here. Lex has a mystic suit that can repel magic attacks and I need your assistance."

"But how did you manage to become the Cloak?" He wondered. "Is that even possible?"

"That's besides the point." I thought out. "It's sentient and out conscious' became one, just like with you. But I still don't know how to block it's chakra."

"I need you here urgently." I implied the urgency. "We can't let this golden opportunity get away, and we can't let Lex get away."

"I'm already there." Doctor Strange replied. "Leave the astral plane and you shall see me taking Lex down."

I left the astral plane, and true to his word, Doctor Strange appeared in the through a portal, as the net nabbed me.

"Lex Luthor." He said. "It's your name, isn't it?"

"You have something of mine, and I can't let you get away with it." Doctor Strange added.

"Ah. The Supreme Sorcerer." Lex Luthor recognized Doctor Strange. "I'll warn you, this is not like the last time. Let me show you just how much more powerful I have become by crashing you."

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

Lex cracked his knuckles as he turned to face Doctor Strange. "I was in a hurry the last time we met. But I guess I can spare you some time, to show you my-"

"You talk too much." Doctor Strange said as he produced Eldritch energy using his Sling Ring, aiming his attack for Lex.

"Anti-magic." He recalled. "It will neutralize my attack as soon as it reaches him."

"I'll fight fire with fire." Doctor Strange said as the Eldritch energy before him transformed and started to glow with a mixture of golden brown and green. He could use anti-magic without even needing me after all.

His attack prepared, he made his move against Lex, shooting a shield mechanism towards him. He meant to crash the suit from the outside.

Lex noticing the green aura, he immediate realized that it was anti-magic, and he activated the thrusters in his suit, from both the back and the leg areas. He shot towards the roof as the attack followed him, directed by Doctor Strange's extended fingers.

After a circular motion on the roof as Lex worked hard to dodge the attack, Doctor Strange let go of his projection.

"I feel off without the Cloak behind me." He thought to himself. He traced symbols on the air before him and sent the diagram towards where I was. As it came into contact with the net, the net shattered into pieces, an my mobility came back.

Instinctively, I soared towards where he was, and gently placed myself on his shoulders.

"You are my cloak, that's for sure." He said out loud. "But just what the F*$$ happened to your colour? Did you get soaked in the worst possible colour ever?"

"Nevertheless, I ain't got much time like this." He said. "Let's finish this quickly."

Facing towards where Lex was, he added. "Let's take this to the skies if that's what you want."

Hovering someone came second nature to me, but it felt a bit odd. We soared up to where Lex was preparing his attack, or defence, as Doctor Strange moved his hands in sorts of ways.

I wondered what attack he would be producing against Lex, a why did it involve so many hand movements.

Lex extended his arm to the incoming sorcerer and produced the reality warping beam that he had used earlier against Lex. It was a beam concentrated with a lot of magic, anti-magic, and, technological energy, hence the effects.

However, this didn't pose a threat to Doctor Strange, and he swayed sideways to doge, producing his shields to protect himself. He bent his legs midway and produced a beam concentrated with magic and anti-magic towards Lex.

Lex looked startled as he tried to direct the beam to where Doctor Strange had hovered after dodging. But his speed wasn't as fast as Doctor Strange's attack, an it hit him, sending him flying backwards.

Doctor Strange was about to surge forward before Lex landed on the ground when something stopped him, and he paused his movement to wipe his face.

Was that blood that I just saw? It must be. What was happening to him? Was he dying because of using anti-magic?

Wiping his hand with his cloth, he bent his knees and prepared to shoot towards Lex, ready to land a last blow. But his moment of distraction had given Lex a chance to reorient himself and perform a counterattack.

As if supercharged, Lex tilted his falling body quickly, and faced the oncoming Doctor Strange, charging at him at a supersonic speed, and punching him in the stomach.

Lex's anti-magic managed to pass through Doctor Strange's protective shield, and the punch sent Doctor Strange flying towards the darkening sky. Night was setting in.

I could hear Doctor Strange groan in pain as his body contorted. More blood came from his mouth, and this time I saw the drops falling.

Seeing the blood, I remembered the dry blood I had seen dried on the grass. After soaring for some distance, as I fruitless tried to slow down the momentum, Doctor Strange finally came to a halt. From a far, he could see Lex charging towards him.

"You are nothing but insects to me!" He screamed as he approached at a fast speed.

Doctor Strange's analytical mind came into play at this point. He had managed to by himself more time using the powers of the Vishanti and the Darkhold, but he didn't know how much longer he could hold off.

He needed to reunite with the Will of Prime ASAP. But the mystery behind the Cloak of Levitation having a Chakra couldn't be solved in a matter of seconds.

The relics Razake had talked about also needed to be secured, as well as putting an end to Lex's evil plan. What would Doctor Strange do? If he continued the fight without any longer, he would lose because his soul would be torn to pieces.

But if he didn't fight, who knows what the repercussions of Letting Lex go were. It was never his nature as a master of the Mystic Arts and the Sorcerer Supreme to back away from a fight.

Without spending more time to think, Doctor Strange quickly hedged a plan. He moved his hands in that fast motion again and concentrated Eldritch and anti-magic energy as fast as he could.

Lex slowed down, expecting an attack from Doctor Strange. But that's not what Doctor Strange was going for.

Suddenly, he shot the ball of energy towards the sky at a supersonic speed while uttering a command:

"Rise! OmniSight Aegis. Defeat Lex Luthor and bring back all the relics."

Then almost simultaneously, he opened up a portal and disappeared through it before Lex could react.
