Chapter 57. Dis-Amalgamated

Chapter 57. Dis-Amalgamated

What is that ominous feeling in the air? Why does it feel so familiar? Like a blend of sweet and bitter, not knowing what you're really tasting.

Is it my unconscious doing? Why is the OmniSight Aegis this cluttered?

Suspicion clouded my mind as I observed the clutter of markers on the giant globe. Crowds had began to gather to observe the man floating in the air with a gigantic display before him, but I barely took notice.

This was New York City in DC, and supernatural things were not uncommon.

"Well, I better check this out." I said as I glided towards the compound below me. It was a well trimmed garden, serving as the backyard to the hospital.

I wanted to make sure that my OmniSight Aegis wasn't going crazy, or something like that, before I proceeded to investigate further on the ominous feeling that still lingered in the air.

It didn't feel threatening to me, but I still found it peculiar.

The gigantic globe miniaturized as I sat in my lotus position, preparing to cast an integrity spell. I drew a circle around me, with magic, and another in the air to retrieve the book of the Vishanti.

I had spent sometime reading through the spells in the book, and mastering most of them, and the integrity check I was about to do came from the Vishanti.

I let the pages flip as I created a safeguard surrounding the Vishanti. It was a web filled with tiny voids.

It's purpose was simple. Using the Book of Vishanti had it's consequences. While I had integrated the pendant from Zatara's hat to the book, it was still rooted to the world of Marvel.

If I used it to perform a powerful spell or ritual, I would inevitably end up channeling from the Marvel Dimensions. I didn't intend to bring in calamities from marvel yet.

The void portals would absorb any stray energies, or beings that came from the unknown. My magic vacuum cleaner, a spell I had crafted myself.

Now, to perform the integrity check, and ensure that the OmniSight Aegis was okay.

The pages flipped to a page in the Vishanti, and I levitated it closer to me. I was just checking to confirm the details of the ritual.

The integrity check spell was however not a complex spell, and I had put up the black void just to be safe. It involved just two steps: disconnection and reconnection.

Having energy flowing through you constantly creates a familiar atmosphere all the time, such that, subtle changes that happen to the energy become familiar too within a short while.

It's hard notice any infiltrations in such a state, so, by disconnecting from the OmniSight Aegis, I would lose the connection to any foreign energies.

In the second step, I would reconnect to the OmniSight Aegis, attuned to my original energy. Thereby, I would be able to identify any stray energies that might have amalgamated with the barrier.

Strong stray energies would show a compromise in my magic barrier.

I had anticipated that such a thing would happen, since the OmniSight Aegis was drawing energy from anywhere around the Earth, perhaps even the Multiverse. While I had put up measures to limit where it would draw most of the energy (the Sanctums), I still hadn't completed working on the barrier.

The reason as to why I needed the Vishanti was because of the disconnection stage. The Vishanti took it's origin from the roots of magic, and using the instructions provided in one of it's pages, it showed me how to effectively stop myself from using magic, even unconsciously.

Disconnection from magic was different from losing magic. A sorcerer who got disconnected from magic still had a choice of reconnecting to it, but one who lost magic through means such as anti-magic had less of a chance of reconnecting.

For such as my former student, Itadori, and my apprentice, Natasha, I just had to purify the anti-magic blocking their respective Chakras, allowing them to reconnect to magic. This was possible because their chakras hadn't been fully corrupted by anti-magic.

As for myself, disconnecting from magic meant that I would be blocking the chakra energies within me, indefinitely. This could be fatal if not done properly. But I wasn't worried at all, I was the most powerful sorcerer in existence.

I closed my eyes in focus and cleared my mind of any distracting thoughts. Taking deep calming breaths, I whispered the incantations that led to my disconnection:

"I willingly renounce this blessing."

And just like that, I was disconnected from the use of magic. The Cloak of Levitation, sensing my disconnection, left my shoulders, and after a moment of observation, it flew towards the sky.

My body felt the disconnection, and I felt the inability to channel energies to cast spells. Moreover, my body resumed it's original state, and my hands started to shake.

But something more happen. Something that I only speculated could be possibly.

---

Once Razake's and Doctor Strange's consciousnesses had amalgamated, a new life had formed, with their old ones sideline.

RazakeStrange had become one with both consciousnesses, even forming a new soul, owning his will and memories.

Basically, StrangeRazake was a life by itself, formed from a Supreme Sorcerer, and the will of Prime.

But now that the Supreme Sorcerer could no longer do magic, the will of Prime couldn't continue to exist within the sorcerer, and the amalgamated consciousness split.

The "dis-amagalmation" process was quick and sudden, perhaps even brutal, and Razake's soul catapulted from Doctor Strange's body abruptly, causing him some turmoil.

Yet, because of his inability to do magic, Doctor Strange could not see the soul staring back at him.

---

"What happened?" I asked myself surveying my surroundings.

"I don't have a body?" I looked at my cloudy hands, then stared at Doctor Strange still in the lotus position.

Without hesitating to think, I catapulted myself towards the body, hoping to repossess the body of the Supreme Sorcerer. As soon as I tried to penetrate, a strong force blocked me and shot me back with the strength of a lighting bolt.

"Aaarghh.." I cried as I flew backwards.

Regaining composure, I stopped to think. Doctor Strange needed to reconnect to magic for me to "re-amalgamate" with his conscious.

He was already trying to do so, as I could see him focusing and breathing, trying to unblock his chakra. The confidence that I had once felt before the disconnection began to waver as I watched him burrow his face in determination.

What if he can't unblock his chakra?

Nah..He was a master of the mystic arts, chosen for the arts. There was nothing he couldn't do when it came to magic. I had seen it all, sometimes even raising the dead and reviving destroyed cities.

All those times he had put his life on the line to defend the Earth didn't compare to this tiny issue. Unblocking his chakra would be an easy enough feat for him, even if he was MCU Doctor Strange. I believed in him.

Problem was, I couldn't help but wonder if his existence in DC could make it impossible. But there was the Vishanti. If anything there were answers if something, supposedly, went wrong.

Speaking of which, where had the Cloak of Levitation gone to?

"I better find it before he pulls me back to his consciousness, which he undoubtedly will." I said to myself as I shot to the sky to trace the cloak. "It won't be long before he does that."

Being in the form of a soul was weird though. It felt as if I could disperse and reform unconditionally. But I was fast in the sky, and it didn't take long for me to spot the cloak heading upwards.

Where was it heading to?

"A last connection to Doctor Strange's magic?" I wondered. "The OmniSight Aegis. I wonder what it looks like. Can I touch it?"

I sped up a bit and reached towards the cloak. But just as I did, the ominous feeling that I had felt while still Doctor Strange intensified.

"Huh... Could the OmniSight Aegis be compromised?" I wondered as I reached for the cloak.

My human instincts had kicked in, and I momentarily forgot that I possessed a soul, not a human body. That occured to me as I reached for the cloak.

But strangely, as if it could feel my presence, the cloak swerved away from my "grasp", still heading upwards.

"Maybe I can touch it." I wondered. "Let's see."

I approached the cloak faster and reached out to grab it.

We were now way up from the ground, approaching the thermosphere, and the colour of the Cloak was beginning to glow.

It was moving at a really high speed, and if it didn't stop, it would end up being charred from the friction. I needed to stop it, but how?

I finally managed to come into contact with the Cloak after several attempts, with it evading me. Then, weirdly, I felt myself touch something, but it was not the feel of the tunic.

It was as if I was touching the cloak's magic itself, already familiar with how magic felt. As soon. As I had done this, I was suddenly pulled into the sentient Cloak.

Suddenly, I could feel the heat surrounding the Cloak, and without even trying to grasp what had just happened, I put in my best effort to reduce the speed of the cloak.
