I approached the awe-struck members of the Justice League, my form radiating with a newfound and superior energy.
I levitated above where they all gathered, looking down on them.
The battle against Thanos had been a pivotal moment, a turning point in my journey towards becoming the Prime Sorcerer.
The Cloak of Levitation, a loyal companion in countless battles, now fluttered around me, its once-vibrant crimson fabric fading to a subtle, deep maroon.
The presence of the Infinity Stones in this dimension had intensified it's aura as it absorbed the familiar energies radiating from them.
But now as those energies died away, it's connection to it's home and reality was fading away, and it's magic dying down.
I had been maintaining that connection unknowingly as I channeled energy from the dimensions of the Marvel Multiverse, but now my connection to this different world was profound and deep, and, rooted.
I was no longer tapping into the Marvel cosmos, but into the DC cosmos, and the relics I bore showed this.
The Eye of Agamotto, suspended around my neck, pulsed with a gentle, dying, rhythmic glow. It was experiencing the same conditions as the Cloak of Levitation, having been used one last time to aid to my victory.
The energy that faded away quickly and rapidly was that of the Sling Ring. I could feel the relic abruptly become mundane as it tried to tap into it's source of magic one last time.
I had possessed and used these relics for the longest time, and this wasn't the place where we were about to part ways.
With a wave of my hands and a focus of my will, I surrounded myself with a swirling shimmering vortex as I tapped into my new sources of power.
I focused on the pendant on my neck, summoning it before my presence. It reacted as if being pulled forward by some unseen gravity.
Carefully, I broke apart the gems that were in the pendant, each with it's own slice of power from the hat of Zatara.
There were three of them: one green, the other red and another blue. I intended to use them to reinforce the magic within my relics.
The gems swirled around me within the vortex, each eventually locating itself to a relic.
The green gem fused with the Cloak of Levitation and the cloak awoke with a newfound vigour, flapping behind me.
The red gem fused with the Time Stone, both reinforcing and increasing it's already immense power.
And then the last gem, the blue gem. It fused with my tunic, granting me a guaranteed ability to draw power directly from the dimensions of this multiverse without the need of the sling ring.
Each gem connected me and the relics to the raw power of this multiverse.
The shimmering web of energy that enveloped me dispersed outwards, startling Wonder Woman as she recalled a familiar incidence from a while back.
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
But this disbursed energy held no sense of threat or immediate danger. Each of the members near me, felt a connection to the mystical energy of this universe as the energy wave expanded.
They had once glimpsed the depths of my power with Thanos, but now they momentarily felt it.
Wonder Woman's golden lasso gleamed with a newfound intensity, compelling the truth of all that was happening .
"That was one hell of a display of power." Zatanna was the first to address me in this new form. "But you know that hat was a gift from my father."
Feeling a bit guilty, I responded. "I'm sorry about that, but right now I need it more than he does. I'll make sure it's magic stays intact."
I could see the uncertainty in Wonder Woman's eyes as she scanned me. I responded to this too.
"Worry not Princess Diana, I'm in control of my power." I said.
Manhunter and the Flash, who also seemed wary of my presence and current state eased a bit. The way I had used my power to defeat Thanos was a testament to my control over my abilities.
But there was something sinister about my actions against Thanos that made them worried and still, slightly point to me as a threat.
In my moment of power, I had gotten carried away and tortured Thanos using flames. And then, I had done God-knows-what to him, causing him to disappear.
"Who was he and what did he want?" Wonder Woman asked, wishing to know more about the threat.
"He was a threat to this world, having stepped through a portal like several others." I explained. "But he poses no threat anymore, and the portals will stop appearing now."
"How do you know that?" Zatanna asked, wishing to understand further how I had come to that conclusion.
"The portals appeared as a result of my unstable energy. But there's something about Zatara's hat has stabilized my magic. I now understand my power and what I am meant to be." I explained.
"The Prime Sorcerer?" Zatanna asked suggestively.
"Yes. I am Prime. And I am here to protect against mystical threats." I said with an aura of confidence and authority, these very words making my body pulse with magical torrents of power.
"If you are Prime and you are here to protect against the dangers of this world, you should become a part of the Justice League, it's protectors." Wonder Woman suggested, her intention being to keep a close watch over me.
"Diana!" The Flash exclaimed at her suggestion.
"We need to watch him closely." Wonder Woman said.
I pondered on her words for a moment. Joining the Justice League would be an honor, but I still had a lot I needed to do. I needed to understand the depths of the mystic arts in DC to avoid causing another calamity in this new world.
"No." I uttered these words, unbelieving that I could actually respond to such a calling in such a manner.
"I cannot join the League. There is so much I still need to learn in my quest to become the protector of the universe." I continued.
"It was not a request." Wonder Woman commanded.
"I do not answer to you or the League." I said defiantly. "But we are allies as both of our goals align."
Wonder Woman didn't know how to answer to this. I clearly wasn't intending to join the League and it was something she couldn't force me into.
"We stand together as guardians of peace and harmony," Zatanna said. "The battle against the yielder of that gauntlet was just the beginning. There are countless threats out there, and we must be prepared to defend all of existence, as one; not divided."
"I agree with Zatanna." J'onn chimed in. "I have been with him since the start and I can ascertain that he means us no harm."
His words had held a truth that Wonder Woman couldn't deny. He had been my companion in Greenpoint all the while, and Manhunter was not easy to corrupt.
"What about Superman then? Is there a remedy to his situation." Barry asked.
I thought about this for a longer while. The information I had just realized related to Superman's situation.
It was possible that upon my arrival, I had drawn a lot of energy from both the Marvel Multiverse and DC Multiverse during my initial spell casting.
This energy was what caused the shield to form around me and finally explode, nearly collapsing the city of Gotham.
Clark might have absorbed this amalgam of power when he flew me to the skies, and it was the cloud of uncertainty surging through his being.
However, this was just an hypothesis, an I couldn't let the Justice League know I didn't belong into this multiverse yet.
I had so much I needed to figure out first, including how my destiny as the Prime Sorcerer was tied into DC.
"I have had an insight into his situation, but I still can't be able to help yet." I explained, knowing that I understood very little on how I could channel energy from different multiverses. I needed to understand that further, before trying to tamper with an amalgam that contained this energy.
"But I believe that nothing will happen to Superman, as magic can't kill him. Something Zatanna explained to me." I added. "With more understanding of my power, I will finally be able to help the Man of Steel."
During this encounter, the Justice League saw a transformation to greatness within me. I wasn't as reckless as the first time, or as uncertain as the second encounter.
I seemed more knowledgeable, calm and authoritative, and the knew that if they wanted to sway any of my current decisions, it could only happen in an epic clash.
"What do you plan on doing now?" Wonder Woman asked, after sometime.
"Now, I learn more about my magic and my purpose. I'll stay here in Greenpoint for now." I answered.
"You've picked the perfect place to master the mystic arts." Zatanna said. "Your magic is intriguing, and it's far beyond anything I've ever seen. I'll help you unravel it's mysteries if you don't mind."
"That would be helpful." I observed.
I felt a strong magic presence approaching and I turned my head to look up to the skies.
I noticed a distinctive structure on the horizon, a towering spire that seemed to reach into the very heavens.
Its architecture was unlike anything I had ever seen in the real world, yet I recognized it in an instant. It resonated with an undeniable sense of ancient power.
It was the Tower of Fate. But how was it in the heavens? Something was not right.
