The sorcerers and sorceress of DC were gathered in the Tower of Fate planning their next move.
"His power is beyond imagination." Dr Fate said. "Even if we want him gone, we will need a very stronger force."
"I tried to get my hands on the Scroll of Dimensions but I couldn't." Zatanna said. "When I went back to Greenpoint, it wasn't there anymore. He had already lost it."
"That was something we could have used to our advantage." Zatara added. "But there's gotta be another way besides that."
"We could always lock him up somewhere hell-ish." Constantine pitched in with an accent. "If he is that potentially dangerous, he must surely deserve it."
"No." Dr. Fate disagreed. "That's not possible. His purpose is far great for us to intervene. All we need to do is to preserve order and get things back to how they were."
"So, how do we suppose we do that?" A female voice said from the shadows.
"Show yourself." Dr. Fate commanded.
"He must have rattled you up for you to let your guard down." The voice continued. "He must be a really interesting fella."
"This is no time for one of your questionable schemes." Dr. Fate said. "The order of all life is at stake."
"Indeed." Enchantress said as she showed herself to the other sorcerers. "But you will love my recent scheme."
"I know how to extract the will of Prime from Doctor Strange." She revealed.
"That's something we already can do." Zatanna shot back.
"Could do." Enchantress corrected. "But you no longer know where the scroll is, do you?"
"Correct me if I am wrong." Enchantress continued. "But didn't your plan involve using it to send him back to his world, after which the will of Prime will have to choose another host since his fate is permanently inscribed in this one?"
"Correct." Zatara confirmed.
"What side are you on?" Constantine inquired.
"There are no sides here." Dr. Fate said.
"Wise man." Enchantress said. "We all want the same thing after all."
"Something I highly doubt." Zatanna expressed her doubts. "What's this plan of yours?"
"An old ritual." Enchantress explained. "One that disconnects someone from using magic."
"The will of Prime requires a Sorcerer to cohabitate with." She continued. "Once Doctor Strange can't use his magic, we will have his power and use it to banish him back to his world."
"That's forbidden!" Dr. Fate barked.
"Depends on the context." Enchantress said calmly. "To spare you from the moral entanglement, I'll perform the ritual."
"That's a bold sacrifice." Constantine said.
"You don't need any of that?" A loud authoritative voice resounded in the Tower of Fate, echoing in their minds.
Dr. Fate's senses heightened as he wondered who else had infiltrated his castle. The aura felt familiar.
"It's an honor being in the presence of the lot of you." The voice said now originating from a particular place.
The sorcerer's had been standing at the floor below a series of an ascending staircase, discussing their next best move. At the top of the stairs was a seat reserved for the wearer of Nabu's helmet. The high seat of the Tower of Fate.
And from this emerged a conscious that too desired order. A conscious that knew everything that there was to know about the Prime Sorcerer, and more importantly, a lot about the characters before him.
Order manifested his presence for them to see. "I got exactly what you need to preserve order in the Crossover."
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
His radiance was marvelous as the audience observed.
"What are you?" Zatara asked the question on everyone's mind.
"I am the Will of Prime." Order replied confidently, then added... "At least, a part of it."
"A split conscious?" Dr. Fate pondered.
"We need to send Doctor Strange from Marvel - where he came from." Order said. "But you have to understand that he believes that he is in the right, and knows the consequences."
"But if we don't, sooner than later, a force beyond your imagination will come for him, and the effects could be catastrophic." Order added.
"Alright. But you still haven't proposed how to do that to him... Or to you?" Constantine reminded.
"The Scroll of Dimensions." Order revealed, showing a radiating scroll on his hand.
He allowed it to float upwards, adding to the glow in the room. "Once I select my host, I will master it and use it to bring back order by banishing Doctor Strange, and reuniting with my conscious."
"A split conscious?" Dr. Fate was still stuck on that.
"Yes." Order replied. "My fate is tied to his, and his to mine. Which means that the more we exist as different parts, the easier it will be to breach the space-time continuum."
"But there is someone out there who will not let it happen as such an event risks the disruption of the entire multiverse." Order continued. "His name is Access, and he'd rather see just one world get destroyed than the entire multiverse."
"We need to resolve this quick." Order clarified.
"So, who shall it be?" Zatanna asked.
"It's no doubt that you are all worthy." Order said. "You all can become the Prime Sorcerer. But I don't suppose you goals truly align."
"Moreover, he will try to absorb me again, as he has already done it once." Order continued. "I need a fail safe when that happens."
---
Order spoke in the body of Dr. Fate after the amalgamation completed. "You are now the Sorcerers of Order, and your duty is to preserve the multiverse with the guidance of the Lord of Order."
A whitish glow and illuminated on Zatanna's eyes, Constantine's eyes, Zatara's eyes and Enchantress' eyes. The glow lasted for a split second.
Then Order lowered the hovering scroll towards the high seat he was seated on. He inspected it a bit.
"The Scroll of Dimensions." He said. "It contains the power to travel across time to any point in space. I wonder if it applies to the entire Crossover, or just this Multiverse."
The scroll of dimensions looked just like a normal scroll, but with a radiance illuminating around it. The radiance took the colour of the holder's aura, and for order, that was white.
The seal was intact, and could only be broke under certain conditions.
First, was the Supreme Sorcerer who could break it out of an axiom. An axiom was a relic that was designed to hold the power of the scroll within it until the time came for it to fullfil it's destiny. Only one who had earned that title could break it out of an axiom.
Moreover, the supreme sorcerer had to have come into contact with the book or manuscripts that talked about this scroll.
Next came the Will of Prime residing in the body of a Supreme Sorcerer. The will allowed for the seal of the scroll to be broken, and thus revealing its contents.
With the seal broken, the scroll could now grant it's power to whoever had it in there hands. The power granted to the wielder was a representation of one of the most powerful powers of the divine being that created the scroll, at certain stages.
Mastery of the scroll wasn't quick and abrupt, and Order had learnt that from the Book of Prime in his dreams.
The initial stages for the Scroll of Dimensions would include basically traveling within the same Multiverse, without crossing to another multiverse. But at later stages, it granted one the ability to travel to the multiverse of the being who created the scroll.
There are seven Scrolls of OAA in the DC Multiverse, each a representation of seven most powerful powers of The One Above All.
Order observed the scroll before him closely.
"What are you waiting for?" Zatanna inquired.
"Mastering the scroll is a process." Order said. "I'm just wondering if there is a way I will be able to use it without having to master it."
"Oy, Prime." Constantine said. "Believe me lad. Shortcuts don't really work. I have been there many times over."
"I'm not looking for a shortcut." Order said as he tuned to his magic. His eyes glowed and time froze.
"Such chaos." Order observed as he looked at the many threads that had appeared frozen before him like broken glass.
They were floating in all directions around him with all sorts of colors. Some green, others white, others black. They had all sorts of shapes and twists too.
Some tied in knots while other bent to form circles. Others just looked shattered and broken.
"This is just not right." Order said. "Doctor Strange must go for the sake of this universe. He will doom everyone."
He lifted the scroll of dimensions that had subsided to the bottom of the threads. Then he tried to break the seal. As he did so, the threads around him shifted and transformed almost all quickly for him to grasp.
They had now taken on a new form like a constantly changing matrix.
"The threads of fate are indeed changing." Order confirmed.
The seal was not however breaking in the frozen time. "Can't stop time and master it? That's not really fair, is it?"
The threads transformed again. Order looked at his new environment with fear in his eyes.
The threads were now charred and everything had been plunged into darkness.
"The end of the world!" Order shook at the sight, but hoping that the threads would transform yet again. A few moments passed, but time didn't.
A small Eldritch glow appeared from the farthest his eye could see. The glow moved fast through the dark matrix, quickly approaching to where he was. As it did so, the charred threads became even more darker, but no longer. They looked rejuvenated with a sluggish appearance.
His eyes widened as he realized what was happening. "The End of the World!"
He quickly unfroze the time, with the scroll of dimensions still in his grasp.
"We don't have much time." He shouted before anyone could recollect himself. "Something worse is about to happen."
