Chapter 65. Awakening

Chapter 65. Awakening

🎶 I'm high, I'm from outer space,

I got milky way for blood,

Evolution in my veins...🎶

The energy ball that Doctor Strange had sent towards the OmniSight Aegis moved fast and steady, leaving behind a trail of energy. It's contents were the orders to retrieve the relics, and put down Lex.

For that, it needed to influence the OmniSight Aegis to act on its own accord, temporarily. For that Doctor Strange linked it to the Collective Conscious, and as the ball hurtled towards the sky, the OmniSight Aegis' Awakening began.

But it's not just the OmniSight Aegis alone that would be awakening.

Lex Luthor on the other hand had had it with sorcerers escaping from his might. Of course they were afraid of him since he was all-powerful. But he wouldn't let this chance to demonstrate his might. He was going to complete his plan and disable all Metahumans.

Not knowing what Doctor Strange had in store for him, he raced towards Metropolis to set his final plans in motion. He had everything he needed, and to his collection of anti-magic relics, he had added the Witch's Wand among the Cloak of Zurak and the Hat of Anti-Magic. All he was missing was the Nthirium crystal.

The ball of energy finally hit the OmniSight Aegis in a dazzling display of energy like fireworks on the fourth of July. This contact was however not just for show, and the awakening began.

Thoughts... Thoughts... Thoughts.... A whole bunch of them. Millions of them. Billions more... A trillion thoughts... Even some more.

What are people always thinking about? Why are they always thinking?

"Mmmhh..."

That's a strong thought. A command? Relics? Power? Lex Luthor?

I see...

The OmniSight Aegis, now conscious, harnessed energy from the Sanctum Sanctorum and concentrated it into a shape. Not that it knew what sort of shape it was supposed to take.

Would it be an oval? A circle? A triangle? Or perhaps a human form.

That didn't matter. The OmniSight Aegis was on a mission. Gathering all the energy it could accumulate, it reshaped itself by first piecing itself together. All those patches that had appeared on the cloak of the Earth slowly began to come together like a liquid flowing.

The Earth slowly began to be unveiled from the confines of the OmniSight Aegis as it teasingly pulled itself together teasingly, like a woman teasing her counterpart as she undressed.

All patched up, the OmniSight Aegis drew it's energy in with one last go, an it explosively took a form, causing a violent mystic wave to erupt through out the space.

All done and humanoid, it tore into the Earth's atmosphere with a goal in mind - relics, power, Lex Luthor.

The energy wave coursed throughout the space explosively, traveling at a "worp" speed through the galaxies. It moved and soared on, experiencing a variety of civilizations in mere seconds.

All the cosmic beings with mystic energy flowing through them experienced this sudden flow of energy, an were alerted to potential threats. It was unlike anything they had ever experience.

Those who came into contact with the stray energies of anti-magic in the wave instantly lost their mystic abilities. But that only applied for sorcerers, wizards and witches. Super-powered entities only felt the wave of disruption moving through the world.

Those who came into contact with certain magic properties had their mystic abilities heightened, and they could suddenly achieve grand magical feats.

The wave moved on, across the Multiverse, even touching into dimensions that were not meant to be touched. It even came across a certain group of travelers that had been misguidedly moving in space for a long time, though unwillingly.

But they weren't touched by anti-magic, and their destination still remained. That had a simple goal, just a simple task.

To keep the Justice League preoccupied while their "master" accomplished his goals. For that, they collectively envisioned bringing doom to the Earth. Someone powerful enough, someone strong enough to keep the Justice League preoccupied.

Someone with an insatiable desire to do math. And they knew just how they would pique his interest, and he would move across the Multiverse to find a certain equation, on a certain blue planet.

They had gone so far into the depths of space, and their journey was coming to an abrupt end, however. That would be good for them since they were running out of energy and supplies. There is nothing worse than being a prisoner of someone's grasp.

"What is this vulgar feeling? It tastes bitter and sour." A conscious stirred in the depths of space as the Teen Titans cruised through.

They had long followed Loki's orders, due to his wicked charm. Knowing that they couldn't defeat the JL by themselves, they chose to seek a higher power from beyond their galaxy. Thanks to their advanced emergency space craft, they had managed to get so far without being harmed.

But as they crossed through this void, the charm that had held their minds hostage for so long began to waver and fade away, giving them enough room to break free.

"What happened to us?" Raven asked as she stirred awake.

"Where are we?" Robin wondered out loud as he peered into the dark void before.

"I hate it!" The conscious that was stirring awake began to feel rattled. "It's vulgar. It's terrible! It's magic! Where did it come from?"

"Aaarghh!!" The conscious screeched, startling the Teen Titans. In this moment, it produced a counter-wave that neutralized the former wave. The Teen Titans finally became fully aware of themselves as Loki's charm became neutralized by anti-magic.

"I can't feel my magic." Raven noticed.

"I sense more, in a certain place." Anti-Magic observed, noticing Raven's innate mystic connection. "How dare you come to disturb me this far?!"

A very enormous eye opened up in the void before the spacecraft. The eye was laced with traces of green, as it unlocked, invoking terror in all of the Teen Titans.

With a blink, the eye started to move towards the Space Craft at a fast speed, ready to tear it to pieces. It moved so quickly and the Teen Titans trembled in fear, knowing that this would be their end.

But why them? Did they really deserve this? Did they deserve to die hungry?

They all closed their eyes, expecting that the worst would happen to them.

They felt their space craft hurtle sideways as something grappled onto it. They were then suddenly thrown falling forward as the space craft started to be pulled backward.

Their eyes closed, they each saw their lives flash in their minds as they waited the crash that would collapse their bodies.

And so it happened. The crash that sent quivers through their spine. The crash of anti-magic eye as it hit a wall illusion projected before it.

"I sense... A strong will. Not magic." The conscious deduced.

Before it could make another move to counter the projection, the Teen Titans were suddenly thrusted backwards, moving at a light speed through space. Their lives were saved, but by who?

Yet after that long.

Back on Earth, Doctor Strange and I had gone back to the New York Sanctum.

"I don't have much time." Doctor Strange said to me. "We have to reunite quickly."

"I have set up the OmniSight Aegis to stop Lex from escaping." He continued. "Once we reunite, I'll go back and put him down."

"I? What do you mean by I?" I asked with my thoughts.

"No time to explain." He said as he hypnotically moved his hands around and surrounded me by candles. "I'll block the Cloak's chakra and return you to my body."

Before I could even find out more, energies surrounded me and it felt as if I was sinking in an ocean. Details suddenly became as he performed the ritual, and I was hazed in the sea of magic.

Then my conscious was suddenly separated from the Cloak, but I couldn't guide my movement as he conjured a stream of energy to flow towards himself. I had no choice but to be channeled into his consciousness.

But I still didn't understand what his intentions were. What did he mean by take over? Did that mean that he would subdue me into his subconscious, making me passive as I had done to him?

No, I couldn't allow this. This was my story, not his. I was the protagonist, and he was just the ride along. I can't let him do this to me. It's my destiny to become the Prime Sorcerer, not his.

I had so much I was yet to accomplish. So many dreams, so many adventures. I had to find a way to stop this. I was more powerful than him.

I tried to struggle, but the most that I could do was wiggle my smoky body. A mixture of emotions of sadness, betrayal, and anger rushed through me as I digested what was happening.

But it was all too sudden and too late, and our consciousness amalgamated.
