Zhou Yanling's Challenge

Zhou Yanling's Challenge

Hey, here's your next chapter before we go back to the regular week. This next week is going to be shitty so I will most likely post late. Anyways, here it is!

______________________________________________________________________________________________

Feng Yun and the rest of the audience stared at her in shock. She wanted to fight against Feng Yun? What prompted her to wish to fight him? They were all curious to see what Feng Yun's reaction would be. They looked at him expectantly waiting for an answer. Feng Yun scratched his head in thought. Had he offended this girl in any way? He decided to probe her.

"Young Miss, may I know the reason behind this challenge?"

"Naturally, it is because I wish to improve my martial skills by sparring with you. You possess decent strength and a pretty good talent, of course inferior to my own, but it is enough for me to want to compare with you. Do not reject this Qiu Yun. You will fight me." The girl was incomparably arrogant and smiled with absolute confidence. She was completely sure that she would win regardless of whether Feng Yun was talented or not. Feng Yun narrowed his eyes at this attitude being shown. As I thought, this girl has remained in a high seat for too long. I must put her in her place and teach her that there is monster beyond a monster, a heaven beyond a heaven! He was thoroughly irritated. He had already sparred against Di Luan and although he wasn't tired in the slightest, he still found it quite rude for someone to challenge him directly afterwards. Whatever, he thought. I'll just kick her ass and make her mouth close.

"Of course Young Miss, this junior wouldn't dare to reject the offer to spar. Please, exchange pointers with me!" He said this with a smile and a sharp look that said that he would not let this girl keep her arrogance. Xia Qing noticed this and smiled. This girl is seriously an idiot, she thought. She's messing with Feng Yun of all people. The girl was satisfied and happy. To her, Feng Yun was just another stepping stone for her to reach the top. She had not considered at all that she would lose.

"Good good! You are not a coward who shies away from challenges at least. I like that! We shall use the same arena as before with the same rules that you had when fighting Di Luan. Alright?"

"That is perfectly fine with me, Young Miss. However, as fellow cultivators sparring against each other, I feel that we should know each other's names before sparring. You already know my name, but what is yours?" Feng Yun was curious to know about the identity of the people the Death Singer Mercenaries were escorting. The girl frowned a bit and gave a glance towards Elder Zhou, who merely nodded. He probably wasn't concerned about people knowing their identity anymore.

"Very well, as per your wish, I shall tell you this young miss's honorable name. I am Zhou Yanling, remember it well Qiu Yun!" After that, she walked over to the battleground where Feng Yun had dueled Di Luan before and stood on one end. Feng Yun walked over to the other end and gazed at his opponent.

"Zhou Yanling, please make the first move." He cupped his hands and bowed slightly. Zhou Yanling merely nodded and a burst of powerful Yuan Energy erupted like a volcano out from her body. Her body began to turn slightly red from the intense power it gave off. The purity that it possessed was also no joke. She must have transfused over fifty percent of her qi into Yuan Energy. Feng Yun had transfused fifty percent of his qi into Yuan Energy thanks to the Eleven Colours Elemental Leaf but he had yet to transfuse the rest. She released her Yuan Energy until it became a large hazy aura surrounding her body. It gave off an immense feeling of depth and control that could utterly destroy its surroundings easily. The crowd gasped in awe. This was...the power of the sixth stage of the Xiantian Realm! Only fifteen years old yet possesses such strength, she must have awesome talent and a powerful backer. Feng Yun's expression did not change even after seeing the full extent of her cultivation. Xiantian Realm sixth layer, that's still too low of a talent to compare to Feng Yun, who was in the third layer of the Xiantian Realm and only twelve years old.

Back to the fight, it seemed as if Zhou Yanling was finished releasing her power and trying to intimidate her opponent. She smiled slightly when she saw Feng Yun''s emotionless expression.

"Not surprised even after seeing my cultivation? Hmm, well then, it seems it will take a bit more effort to teach you that I am far above you!" She then stormed forward, fists charged with Yuan Energy at Feng Yun, appearing very intimidating. Her agility was very high as she was able to reach Feng Yun's position in about a couple seconds. She appeared like a blur to the surrounding audience but to Feng Yun, her actions were as clear as day. The fists were aimed very accurately at the important points on his body. Feng Yun utilized the Cloudscale Sect evasion arts to dodge every single one of her attacks, but it wasn't that simple. Feng Yun could tell due to his special eyes, that her attacks were laced with a combustive force that caused ripples every time they struck out. Because of this, Feng Yun had to activate higher defensive measures to block it.  Dodging wasn't that easy for him against these types of unique attacks. If the fists got too close to his body, even if they missed they would still cause some damage to his body. He quickly leaped backwards and said,

"Wow! Little me would never have thought that miss Zhou Yanling had such a unique way of attacking. The ripples caused by your fists, are they the result of a martial art you train in?" Zhou Yanling frowned slightly as she realized that Feng Yun was very adept with agility. Not only that, he had excellent eyesight and could easily identify the specialty of her martial art. This boy, truly isn't simple. Could he truly come from a strong power backing him? It would be best not to underestimate him too much.

"Ho, Qiu Yun has very good eyes. It indeed is the result of a martial art I train in. The martial art I train in is called the Rippling Tower Fist. It is a Sage Class late phase skill. As for the abilities it can display, I'm sure you have already deduced it." Zhou Yanling said. Feng Yun only nodded and sighed in his heart. This martial art was indeed quite powerful and if the person going against her fists was not Feng Yun, then they would have surely been taken by surprise by the special characteristics it possessed. Unfortunately, Feng Yun was her opponent and had high reflexes.

"Well then, you have already attacked with your moves. It should be my turn to act right?" Feng Yun said this with with an evil smile which sent shudders down Zhou Yanling's spine. She didn't know why but she felt as if this boy was truly confident in being able to beat her. Zhou Yanling shook off the feeling thinking to herself that that was impossible. After all, even if he was some genius, he was still only twelve years old. His cultivation couldn't have gotten too far. How could he match up to Zhou Yanling who was about fifteen years old? Ludicrous, she thought. He's merely putting up a front. He must be cringing inside from anxiousness.

Feng Yun, contrary to her beliefs was perfectly calm and did not have the slightest bit of fear. Without hesitation, he charged up a large amount of Yuan Energy in his palms and body. An incredibly terrifying aura began to grow around him and illuminated his entire body in a golden aura. He knew this battle would not be as easy as it was when battling Di Luan due to the techniques that the girl practiced and the percentage of qi she had transfused to Yuan Energy. He had no doubt that she had transfused all one hundred percent of her qi into Yuan Energy. Therefore, against a strong opponent like her, he naturally had to use some of his true strength. He released his full cultivation of the third layer of the Xiantian Realm and his full aura. He didn't draw the Void aura however, else that would complicate things and he would certainly be questioned heavily by Elder Zhou. He was also afraid that his Void aura would completely swallow his opponent whole while she's unable to defend. If that happened, then he would be offending the power behind Zhou Yanling and thus make an unnecessary enemy. Currently, he was far from home and his own personal strength was incredibly weak. The Cloudscale Sect couldn't help if they didn't even know where he was or what he was doing. It would not be good to cause trouble for them. Still, Feng Yun would at least teach this arrogant girl a lesson. When he finished accumulating his Yuan Energy, he leaped off the ground with a large Bang and left only dust in his previous position.

Zhou Yanling's eyes flickered with momentary shock, which quickly resumed back to its composed complexion. What speed! Feng Yun lashed out with a flurry of fists when he was around a foot away. They were each filled with incredibly dense Yuan Energy and could not be taken lightly. They were also controlled greatly to the extent that they didn't even cause any fluctuations. He was not wasting any moves and directly went for the valid points each and every time he struck. Zhou Yanling was well versed in combat however and blocked his strikes in return with her Rippling Tower Fist arts. Feng Yun felt a numbing sensation when his palms touched Zhou Yanling's and they could not stop shaking. Truly powerful! He clenched his numb fist and calmed his body forcefully. He was able to do this because of his training in the body from his days as an assassin. What assassin wasn't well versed in the human body? They had to know the points on the human body that were the most weakest as well as what each and every one of them could be used for. Feng Yun had used a technique his father from his previous world had shown him to calm his body forcefully whenever a strike left his body slightly paralyzed. It was the perfect counter for paralysis attacks. For poison however, that was a different story. Poison had effects that could completely corrode the body's functions so even if you knew the body calming technique, you still wouldn't be able to remain in prime fighting condition. The old man may have been pretty harsh back then, but at least the stuff he taught me was pretty useful. However, there was a slight drawback. He would suffer from a lot of bone pain later and he would need to rest and give himself treatment for a few days. He would be unable to engage in combat or training until that time limit was over.

Meanwhile, Zhou Yanling was smiling with satisfaction at having hit her opponent with her Rippling Tower Fist. Those fists possessed the power to downgrade the body's fighting capacity a bit. He should be feeling very numb and uncomfortable, she thought. Her thoughts quickly changed as she saw Feng Yun clenching his hands and closing his eyes. She had a clear connection to the ripples caused by her fists so she could tell if her ripples were still present on her opponent or not. But at this moment, she was unable to sense any ripples on her opponent at all. Impossible! He shouldn't be able to forcefully disable the ripples by himself. But looking at the calm smile he gave off, Zhou Yanling couldn't help but think that the impossible had just happened. She was so surprised that she began to stutter.

"Y-You...you...impossible...you disabled the ripples caused by my Rippling Tower Fist!?" Her jaw was about a couple inches dropped. Feng Yun indifferently replied to her.

"Hm, oh that? That was just a technique I learned. You ripples are ineffective against me I'm afraid." Feng Yun sighed sarcastically and made a few tsk tsk sounds. Zhou Yanling's face grew colder by the second and her expression turned ugly. Elder Zhou's face was also pale with fright as he realized that his granddaughter's top tier martial art which she had painstakingly cultivated for the last five years of her life could not do shit to her opponent at this moment! He could not believe that a youth not even a teenager could block this kind of hit with practically no damage at all. A Sage Class Late phase skill! It was an incomparably strong type of skill. He found himself more wary of this kind by the minute. Just what kind of background does her have?!

"Okay, using normal attacks against you are ineffective it seems. I have to say, your skills are quite impressive. However, I will still ultimately win in the end." Feng Yun charged lightning Yuan Energy into his palms and executed the first chapter of the Dragon Inheritance Manual.

"Raiding Thunder Palm!" He launched a fierce strike against Zhou Yanling's chest. Zhou Yanling, sensing the danger behind the strike focused all of her Yuan Energy into blocking the strike and suppressing the power that it held. To no avail it held as the martial skills of the Dragon Inheritance Manual were much stronger than normal skills. Furthermore, the lightning element it held also reinforced the strength of the skill. Altogether, the power of the Raiding Thunder Palm was equivalent to a Sage Class middle phase skill. The palm strike struck the barrier covering the girl's chest and struggled for a bit, as if battling for supremacy.

"Hmph. I will break through," Feng Yun said and gave a violent burst in power. The Raiding Thunder Palm once again pushed against the barrier this time with an even greater force than before. Zhou Yanling felt like she was suffocating from the pressure being exerted on the fist. She couldn't take it anymore after a few seconds and the punch broke through. Feng Yun slammed the punch hard into her chest but he restricted it to the extent that it would not cause serious harm to her internal organs. Zhou Yanling was sent flying backwards at a high velocity and passed the red line which signified the border of the mach grounds. She landed just outside of it about a meter away and bones completely weary. She was also not too hurt although she had multiple bruises. She coughed a little bit as she sat up from being laid on the ground. Her eyes were filled with rage and fury as well as the feeling of broken pride. She had evidently taken quite a mental hit from this exchange and hated him to the bone. She was still replaying in her mind how she lost and could still not believe it.

"Me...lose? Impossible. No...I am the heir to Azure Sky City's Zhou Clan. I can't have lost. This is..." She kept mumbling to herself and had lost touch with the outside world for the moment. Elder Zhou's face wasn't very good as he kept looking from Feng Yun to Zhou Yanling over and over again with an ugly complexion. He was still coming to terms with the realization that his granddaughter had lost despite her being an earth shaking genius. The sound of laughter could be heard as an old figure stepped forward. This was Dong Fuzhen and he had a very content smile on his old face. He had always wanted to see someone teach a lesson to that arrogant girl Zhou Yanling but there was no one daring enough to do it. Luckily, Feng Yun ha done so himself. This made Dong Fuzhen quite happy. He immediately said to Elder Zhou,

"Well then, it appears, Elder Zhou that the winner of this duel is our Qiu Yun. Well then, now that the matters of today are over, we should head back to our tents to prepare for the journey tomorrow morning." He said.

"Ah...er...yes. We shall do that. Come, Ling'er. We shall go back to our residence." Elder Zhou was desperately trying to escape the current situation and beckoned Zhou Yanling to follow him. Zhou Yanling however, was not paying attention. She was staring at Feng Yun, who had turned around and begun to walk back to his amazed battalion teammates. She gritted her teeth and steeled her gaze at Feng Yun.

"Me...inferior to that guy? Impossible. I am the genius of the Zhou Clan of Azure Sky City. I am destined for greatness. There is no way I can let someone like him stop me from greatness!" She then reached into her pouch drew a large emblem. The emblem contained azure vines with clouds imprinted above them. This emblem was truly extraordinary as it was made of precious materials, perhaps even Spiritual Jadestone! Upon seeing this emblem taken out, Elder Zhou's face started dripping sweat like mad.

"Ling'er, do not use that emblem! Your father specifically told you not to---" he tried to speak but was then interrupted by Zhou Yanling, who had channeled her Yuan Energy into the emblem. It began to glow brightly and emanate a dominating aura that stretched all the way to Feng Yun. He felt the aura and turned around in curiosity only to see the emblem in her hand. What the hell is this thing that gives me the shivers, he thought. The glow around the emblem was growing even brighter by the second and more tyrannical. Feng Yun placed his hands up in defense. Zhou Yanling laughed insanely when she saw this. It was as if she had gone mad after realizing her loss.

"HAHAHAHAHA! Qiu Yun, let's see if you can block against this move with your techniques. Before my Zhou Clan family treasure, all techniques are useless! Ensealing Cloudvine Symbol, awaken!" The atmosphere then began to get heavy and the ground started to shake. Whatever was in that symbol, wasn't very good for Feng Yun.
