Feng Yun stood in between the three corpses and released all of his pent up killing intent in order to ward off other beasts that could possibly attempt to come over. With his current condition, there was no way that he could afford to fight any longer. Blood stains completely ruined his green robes and his eyes had a fiendish though tired glare to them. Panting heavily, sweat poured down his face and he trudged over towards the corpse of the ape.
"That's right. Fuck your mother and all your ancestors. I, have just ended your entire bloodline. Big mistake running into me! Hahaha, say hello to Yama for me in the Yellow Springs!" Now Feng Yun had gone delirious. He continued to blabber nonstop without an end and it was clear that he had gone insane. It was only until Warden shut him up did he calm down.
"Boy, shut the fuck up and collect their goddamn souls. You insane idiot, calm down already. What the hell happened to you all of a sudden?!" Feng Yun was shaken by the sudden interruption and his evil expression sank. He had apparently registered Warden's words and cooled down a bit. However, his body still emitted a fierce killing intent.
"Sorry, I went crazy for a bit." Warden's eyes twitched inside the Manual's space. 'Crazy' was a bit of an understatement for that kind of behavior.
"What was that change in your aura?"
"Hm, oh it was nothing. I just...found myself. Anyways, let's collect the souls." Warden somewhat understood what Feng Yun's words meant, but he had been quite frightened by the amount of killing intent that Feng Yun dispersed.
'Just how many people did he kill in his past life for there to be this much killing intent?' Warden shook his head and kept silent.
Calmly, Feng Yun summoned the Void Universal Manual and the black grimoire manifested out of nowhere, hovering above the corpse. He willed the book to open and instantly the pages flipped over until it reached an empty page. Then, with a little push of spiritual energy, Feng Yun willed the book to absorb the souls of the three corpses. The clear orbs flew out of their chests and traveled into the book, images representing them immediately forming.
"Hmm, these souls are quite strong. I imagine that the constant slaughter had forged a great foundation for them and as such, the power of their souls was also incomparably strong. I wonder what kind of pills the manual would make if I fused all of their souls together." Feng Yun silently lamented to himself. Then, he willed himself to enter the space of the book.
When he opened his eyes, a figure looking like a Demon Lord, curved horns on top of his head, and a muscular physique greeted him with a questioning glare.
"I assume that you wish to transform the souls into pills?" Warden had his arms crossed and a slight frown appeared on his face as he looked over at Feng Yun for a long while. The boy scratched his head slightly as an awkward atmosphere drifted between them.
"Yes, I would like the pills." Warden continued to stare at him and at this point, Feng Yun felt uncomfortable. "Are you perhaps interested in me? You know, Warden, I'm not really into guys. Especially demon looking people like you."
"Who the fuck would be interested in you?" Warden slammed a fist onto Feng Yun's head and the boy instantly yelled in surprise.
"Why the hell did you do that?" Feng Yun cried out, but he wasn't actually serious. He was just trying to get Warden's attention to break the awkward silence. The man...or demon merely snorted and extended his hand outward. Three souls converged upon the space above his hand and twirled about erratically in response to the energy Warden injected into it. It seemed like they were in the process of fusion. All the while, Feng Yun watched with a fervent expression on his face. He was extremely fascinated towards these kinds of things.
After a few moments of fusion, the three souls began to merge together and become one powerful soul. Vacuum like sounds were made as the final form emerged into fruition. The final soul was much larger than the original three and it emanated power. Even Feng Yun felt a bit of pressure from it.
"Next is the pill formation process." Warden's indifferent voice sounded out. This kind of pressure didn't faze him at all.
Suddenly, the large soul began to shrink at a fast pace, the power within it condensing and being shaped. Soon, the soul had solidified into a sphere like shape that was small enough to fit down your throat. The pill glowed bright yellow, as if it was made of a holy substance. It even looked like the color of Yuan Energy. Warden raised his eyebrows in surprise as he analyzed the functions of the pill he had created.
"Hoh? A temporary cultivation enhancing pill? Truly not bad! These souls were actually powerful enough to forge a pill of some rarity." Feng Yun looked up and saw the surprised expression on Warden's face. He asked hurriedly,
"Cultivation Enhancement Pill?! Does it truly advance cultivation?"
"Indeed. This pill is able to increase your cultivation level by three levels for approximately ten minutes. Pills like this are quite hard to forge, even for a high level master of medicine. Thus, their rarity is not small. However, though it is extremely useful, it also comes with drawbacks. After the ten minutes is used up, then you will not be able to move for an entire day."
Feng Yun was shocked. An entire day of non movement. In a place like the Violet Slaughter Valley, a day of non-movement was akin to committing suicide. Any monster could rip apart your body if you showed even a moment of weakness. To use the pill here was impossible. Feng Yun shook his head as he realized this.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
"Well, this pill is quite useful. However, to use it here is tantamount to suicide. I'll somehow find a way to use it somewhere else." Feng Yun whispered to himself. Then he looked over at Warden and expressed his gratitude.
"Thanks for the pill." Warden shook his head and waved him away.
[Lol, this sounds like something a guy who wants drugs would say]
Feng Yun exited the manual and looked over at the corpses and his own body. Most of his clothes were covered in blood but there were still areas of green that could be easily discerned.
"This won't do. I'm much too easy to be spotted. I need to find a way to cover up myself." If he continued to wear these kinds of attire, then he wouldn't be able to survive the next two months.
Gazing around his surroundings, he received a spark of inspiration. Summoning his sword, he quickly chopped off lots of leaves and grass colored violet and compiled them in a pile. Then, he pressed down upon them with his fist covered in Yuan Energy and flattened the grass and leaves until it became a thick violet paste.
Before the paste could dry into the ground, Feng Yun took the paste and began to spread it around his clothes, covering every inch of it without fail. He made tiger stripes made out of violet paste on his cheeks to make his face slightly violet as well. At the end, every inch of his body was covered in violet, excluding his face. Looking down at himself he whispered,
"This should do. I'll be able to hide out of plain sight easier thanks to this. Now I can hunt without fear of being spotted." Feng Yun cackled evilly to himself as he thought of all the blood he would make rain in this valley. He didn't forget to collect the hearts of the beasts and ruthlessly tore into their bodies. He walked off, planning of the killing methods he would employ. The change in his personality was now extremely visible.
Another month passed by as Feng Yun continued to kill beasts easier than ever. His reputation inside the forest began to steadily rise as he slaughtered countless beasts. Many beasts would become afraid of him the moment he released his killing intent. All the life and death battle he encountered forged his cultivation to become stronger and stronger, making his natural abilities nearly unstoppable.
At the current point of time, he was crouched on the branch of a tree and watched intently, his killing intent masked perfectly. In his hand was a small wooden crossbow colored violet and a single arrow inside it. If an expert were to survey it carefully, they would see that the arrow inside had a very peculiar gleam to it, and a laced liquid. The liquid was green in color and had a dangerous aura to it.
He stared at the ground before him from a high altitude and narrowed his eyes when he found his target. A large wolf lay down, chewing a piece of meat from a deceased carnivore. The wolf was absolutely oblivious to Feng Yun's presence but it still maintained a cautious disposition.
"Target's in sight. Ready...aim...fire!" Feng Yun aimed the crossbow at the violet wolf and fired, the bolt flying quickly straight into the wolf's body. The wolf had detected the bolt but it was too late to stop it. The bolt landed squarely in it's chest, and blood immediately shot out of the new wound. The wolf gave out a cry before shaking its body to remove the bolt. With its vigorous movement, the bolt flew out and blood flowed freely. Feng Yun leaped down from the tree to meet his foe.
The wolf snarled at him, killing intent surrounding his body. Feng Yun stared calmly as the wolf prepared to strike. He didn't even summon his sword. When the wolf balanced itself on it's hind legs to balance the footing, it suddenly released a mouthful of blood from it's mouth. It's face turned pale and it's intestines felt like they were going to explode. Feng Yun stared indifferently at the wolf as it spasmed on the ground. Blood flew out of it's mouth one after another.
"Looks like the Nematode Body-Ripping Poison is working better than I thought it would. Knowing the effect of the poison, you should die in about five minutes. I have the antidote, but you won't be able to get it."
The wolf stared venomously at Feng Yun as he strode forward. The Nematode Body-Ripping Poison was something he had collected from the corpse of a violet frog with the cultivation of the Eighth Layer of the Xiantian Realm. It was extraordinarily powerful and its poison could burn through objects. If used on another person or beast, it would absolutely tear them apart internally. Feng Yun didn't wait for five minutes and instead directly slit the wolf's throat with his sword and collected it's heart and soul.
Gazing at the body of the dead wolf, Feng Yun pondered what to do next. He had remained in the outer portions of the Violet Slaughter Valley for about two months now and had collected over two-hundred hearts. He was near the quota for the amount of beast hearts he was to bring in and the beasts of the outer portions were becoming too easy to kill. He needed a challenge and had learned that most of the strong beasts resided at the depths of the valley.
"I'm done with this place. I need a real challenge. Perhaps the inner valley might be a good idea." Feng Yun pondered for a bit and then realized that he would grow stronger substantially only if he entered the inner valley. He gazed at the path leading to the inner valley.
"Hm, well then. Let's see what kind of place it is." Feng Yun grinned to himself as he walked along the path.
