Hey peeps! And another chapter for you! The last chapter was so hard to write because it was so damn boring! This one might be a bit more exciting. Enjoy!

Feng Yun stayed back, laying under the cherry blossom tree for a little more time, pondering about his future and the events that had happened until now.
He had gone on a great journey, met with new people, fought with terrifying beasts, angered great and powerful kings and experienced things that not many people his age would normally have. He had even gained a master! Currently, his life had been very extraordinary and Feng Yun was very excited to experience new things. He had not even traveled a fourth of the continent and there were many things to explore. He had come to value his friendship with Xia Qing even more than he had at the beginning.
They had many things in common so it was easy for them to strike a friendship. However, they had never truly become close to each other until facing death together. His companion shared a near inseparable bond that couldn't be broken easily. Once again, he felt a pang of sadness from having to leave her at the Holy Continental Academy. However, this as all for the sake of becoming even stronger. Once he had reached a very considerable level of strength, traveling together would be so much easier.
At that point in time, they would resume their journey together.
Feng Yun pondered those things while subject to the comfortable atmosphere of the environment. After another couple of hours, he decided to come back to the villa. He got up with a yawn and in a very leisurely pace, traced his steps back to the Death Singer Mercenaries. He eventually found the same villa he had arrived at merely a few hours before and walked inside. He had immediately left the vicinity of the villa after he had arrived there so he had not received a chance to inspect the inside.
Now that he thought of it, the insides were much more beautiful than the outside. The walls of the inside were colored jade and small hexagonal patterns covered the entirety of it. Golden ornaments were strung across the hall and served to lighten the place up and make it seem that much luxurious. Feng Yun's gaze lingered on the decorations for a few moments before taking it off. He did not have too much of an appreciation for these structures, no matter how beautiful they were. To Feng Yun, the beauty of architecture merely served as something good to look at once in a while. The pleasures of the world was something that Feng Yun rarely delved into.
Making his way across the hall, he saw many of the mercenaries sitting on the mahogany chairs their legs placed in a relaxed position. They all had large jugs of ale and wine as they conversed with each other in excited voices. Feng Yun smiled and nodded his head at the behavior of the mercenaries. Relaxing was a good thing for the mercenaries who had been through so much. Experiencing pleasure would undoubtedly raise the morale of the troops and their energy would make a qualitative leap. It was the right decision coming to this city.
There were multiple floors to the villa so it came as no surprise to Feng Yun when he saw a staircase leading upstairs. He ascended upstairs and found the commanders around the place. Dong Fuzhen was sipping from a glass of wine while enjoying the view. He looked incomparably relaxed. Feng Yun could not find Xia Qing anywhere. She must have gone to her room already. He sat himself next to Dong Fuzhen in a comfy chair, a wine bottle next to him. Next to the bottle was a small glass. Feng Yun grabbed the glass and poured some of the wine from the bottle into it. Dong Fuzhen noticed his actions and worry filled his eyes.
"Kid, are you sure you should be..."
"I have a pretty good constitution. You would be surprised." Feng Yun filled the glass to the rim and emptied the contents down his throat. Instantly, a hot sensation filled his throat and redness made its way onto his face. The wine tasted very sweet and pleasure was apparent on Feng Yun's face as he wiped his mouth. Dong Fuzhen stared, wide eyed, at the teen's constitution.
"Oi oi kid. Are you going to be okay?" Dong Fuzhen was about to call for someone to get a bucket just in case Feng Yun decided to vomit. Feng Yun's face cleared up in an instant and he felt healthy once more. The sweetness of the wine was still on his face but the hot sensation was no longer there. He held up his hand to indicate that he felt very fine and there was no need. Instead he began to talk with Dong Fuzhen as if nothing happened.
"It appears that there will be something interesting happening soon." Dong Fuzhen's expression turned a little interested.
"Oh? Do tell."
"A large horde of demonic beasts will be attacking the city. It appears that it has happened before." Dong Fuzhen almost spit out his wine.
"A large horde of demonic beasts?! What the hell? Is there any danger?"
"Apparently not. The city appears to have been attacked by hordes before, and they have never sustained heavy casualties. Even so, the presence of Seeker Twin Viper is there. It is impossible for the horde to be able to take over the city." Dong Fuzhen's expression softened. It was true. Seeker Twin Viper was an almost peerless existence to the citizens of Twin Viper City and even the people outside of the city. His name was known throughout the continent. Very few could win against existences of that level of power. What hope did a horde of stupid demonic beasts have of defeating him?
"So, what do you plan to do?"
"Well, the hordes will be attacking very soon and transportation will most likely shut down. The city will go into lockdown. No one can get in and no one can get out. Seeing how we are practically trapped in here fore the time being, lets enjoy the show. I am interested to see what will happen." Dong Fuzhen nodded his head in response. It made sense. No one would want to travel when such a crisis may disrupt their journey. After briefly discussing with Dong Fuzhen, Feng Yun went up and talked to Xia Qing for a while, informing her of the coming horde. By nightfall, the mercenaries had all slept except for Feng Yun, who decided to use his time to cultivate.
The next day, everyone was fresh and their spirits were high. They seemed as if they were prepared to take on any challenge that the world had for them. With this kind of morale, the journey to Azure Sky City would be much easier. The army had already been informed of the incoming horde and excited expressions surfaced onto their faces. The whole army was coming for the "event". Feng Yun changed the dial above the holy circle to 0000 and the circle expanded to encompass the whole army of fifty. Instantly, they teleported to the check in location.

They exited the area and headed towards the gates. Along the way, there were many other people making their way towards the gates as well. They all held very interested expressions and, like the mercenaries, wished to personally witness the power of the City Lord's Mansion. The line of people moved very fast in contrast to yesterday's slow movement. They all rushed to get a spot at the scene. Soon, Feng Yun and his group reached the location. They were very lucky to grab a spot on the outer rim of the gates, where there was a rim for people to see the outside. Not only that, there was also a screen that was magically projected behind the gates, depicting the soon to be battlefield. Everyone waited patiently for the warriors of the City Lord's Mansion to come.
Soon enough they did. Archers wearing tight jade colored armor stood on the towers that kept the walls together, their bows at their sides. Next to them were cannons two times taller than themselves, black in color. One of the guards in charge of the gate let out a shout and the massive doors opened. Out came hundreds of soldiers on mounts, varying from ghastly lizards to noble stallions. Either way, the soldiers looked awe inspiring on them and they were a sight to behold. At the front of the army was a stout looking man with a red feather sticking out of his helmet. He was clearly the commander and had sharp eyes that could see through everything. The troops stared at the horizon for a moment before tensing up.
This was because in the horizon was a stampede of hundreds if not thousands of beasts, all rushing towards the same point: the gate. They varied in size and shape and carried a very bloodthirsty killing intent with them as they rushed. The monsters were incredibly savage, bits of flesh and gore dying their coats. It was clear that these beasts had killed for a bit before coming here. The crowd watched them coming closer to the gates as the full number of the horde unveiled itself. It was terrifyingly huge. Thousands and thousands of beasts piled themselves together while running at full speed. The stout looking man's gaze flickered as he saw this mind boggling number. He called a soldier from the army to him and spoke a few words to him. The soldier nodded solemnly and charged inside the city.
The stout commander expected the beasts to continue to run until they collided with the army so he had made preparations with the cannons and archers to pick them off before the majority of them met the troops. To his surprise, the beasts had stopped moving when they had reached a distance of fifty meters from the gates. They tensed up and licked their savage lips in anticipation, as if they were waiting for an order to be given for them to charge. The stout commander's eyes flashed with shock. Were they possibly...being commanded? He had heard of such a thing before but it had never happened to them in the history of the hordes that attacked Twin Viper City. Truth and Tyrant realm beasts possessed very high intelligence, comparable to humans but they lacked commanding experience so they could not forge armies. However, it as clear that such a thing has happened.
The crowd was surprised once more when they saw that the beasts were dividing themselves up into large groups, like divisions. The army had formed several formations filled with specific beasts that had certain attributes that could boost the potential of the army. The stout commander''s gaze turned focused and grim.
"Not good, the beast army has gone against expectation. They have formed an organized army. With this kind of force added to their extreme population, it won't be easy to repel this assault." Feng Yun thought to himself. What kind of beast was commanding them, to have this much intelligence.
"MEN! Ready your weapons! Prepare for war!" The stout commander yelled to the army behind him. The archers on the tower raised their bows and a powerful aura erupted from them. The same was true for the mounted soldiers, who had aimed their spears forward, making for a fantastic formation. The cannons on the towers were being loaded by the men and they were trained on the army. The stout commander wasn't going to take any chances. He had been through a great many horde sieges but never had he ever experienced something like this.
Almost at the same time that the army readied their weapons, a loud sound pierced through the air. Thunderclouds formed in the sky above the beast army. They looked extremely terrifying and scared the Xiantian cultivators in the human army out of their wits. Truth realm cultivator! A Truth realm cultivator was among their ranks. The stout commander's face twitched as he pondered. Was this beast possibly the perpetrator behind the organized horde? He didn't have time to think about it as a large thunderbolt dislodged itself from the clouds and flew straight down into the battlefield.
CRACK!
The sound rang throughout the ears of everyone present. However, it was the beasts who acted upon this sound. They all rushed forward, bloodlust leaking out of their mouths. They came in all forms, reptiles, birds, felines, mammals and many others.
Their speed was considerable as they neared the stout commander and his men one foot every two seconds. The stout commander raised his spear high and yelled,
"Fire the projectiles!"
The cannons began firing large circular projectiles made of a very powerful substance at the beasts. The balls connected with multiple groups and the destruction was apparent. As soon as they made contact, the cannonballs exploded into multiple fragments each filled with fire energy. The fire energy came from a private Truth realm cultivator hired by the City Lord's Mansion who imbued the cannonballs with pure fire energy. This basically meant that the cannonballs were like disposable Truth Artifacts! With so many of them firing simultaneously, how could the damage not be small.
The bodies of combusted beasts flew through the air and knocked into other beasts. The damage was enough to disrupt the flow of the battle for a bit but surprisingly, the beasts recovered easily and proceeded to meet the ground troops. Even when the arrows and cannonballs rained down upon them, their killing intent didn't diminish. Rather, it increased quantitatively. The stout commander's side of the battle tensed.
"Brace for impact! Kill them all!"
The roars of the beasts grew ever louder as they merged with the battle cries of the soldiers. The beasts and the soldiers had made contact. And a whole other level of brutality was about to begin.
