Desperate Situation

Hey guys, so I'm sure you heard about my circumstances in the last chapter. Haha, sorry about that. Anyways, I'll try my hardest to update two more chapters but if luck isn't on my side, only one. Enjoy!

Responding to the voice of the bandit commander, the infantry began to stomp their feet and spears into the ground repeatedly, as if in anticipation of the battle. Feng Yun narrowed his eyes. These were all battle hungry maniacs. Their bloodlust could be seen even from the back of the defensive formation. Not only that, their battle experience was actually not small at all. They had organized themselves into several V-like formations with their cavalry. They were smart and knew that the level of difficulty of the enemy they were facing was strong. They had prepared well and their morale was high. These bandits represented a high level of danger. The elite commander pulled out a horn from his pouch which he kept around his waist, smiled wickedly, and blew deeply into it. This sound was different from the earlier sound. It lasted much longer and was much deeper. If the earlier sound was meant to prepare for war, then this sound was meant to go to war.

Chief Dong Fuzhen had a very strict and fierce expression on his face that said that he would never back down from a challenge. But at the same time, he was exclaiming in his heart. He was wondering how they managed to come up with such a strategy for taking the whole mercenary army down. That elite commander at the front certainly did not look like he came up with it. On the contrary, he looked quite stupid. Is it possible they have a strong power backing them up? Feng Yun was thinking the same. But at this moment, he could only brush those thoughts aside as he drew his sword. The Overlord Heaven Piercer katana appeared in his hands, its domineering pressure activating at once. Meng Rou and Cang Lin looked over in surprise because the pressure had even scared them. They were thinking in their heads as they stared at the katana that Feng Yun truly wasn't simple. Duo Ling looked at it for moment and then smiled. He had indeed made the right choice to select Feng Yun onto their team. He and his spirit would be a major help to the battlefield.

"Mercenaries, remember! Stay in a defensive formation. We don't want them getting in at all. If need be, you can switch to an offensive tactic to keep them off us and then switch back to defense." Dong Fuzhen yelled. The bald commander suddenly smiled and said,

"I'm afraid that's a bit too late." Before Dong Fuzhen could comprehend what the bald commander had said, he felt an overwhelmingly cold aura assault within the ranks of his army. The chief looked around and realized what was about to transpire. He was about to jump off his horse when he heard a loud scream. The chief's worst fears were confirmed as he saw one of his elite commanders kneeling on the floor with a sword stabbed straight through his heart. Everyone looked and found that the assailant was wearing their own uniform. The chief turned cold and immediately yelled to the people in the battalion that the assailant belonged to.

"KILL HIM!!! The bandits have placed a spy in our ranks. That's him! The original person of your battalion has already been killed and substituted with a bandit!" It took the battalion a while to realize what was happening before another scream rang. The same assailant was killing the members of the battalion one by one until someone from the other battalions decided to act. An arrow whistled through the air and landed in the assailant's back before puncturing the heart. The danger had passed but the chief's fierce expression had turned cold. He turned to face the bald commander as he said,

"YOU BASTARD!!! You planted spies in our ranks! Don't tell me you---"

"Haha, it took you long enough to notice. Indeed, when you sent a scout to retrieve information about the surroundings, we had found him ourselves and interrogated him. After finding out about you guys, I killed the scout and replaced him with one of our own men. That guy was a tough nut to crack. We had to use a variety of torture methods to make him spill it out. We told our guy what to tell you about the surroundings and completely fooled you. The goal was to kill at least one of your elite commanders because that was already a huge part of your force. We didn't need to kill the others. With one of the commanders dead, we can kill you much easier." The bald man said while cackling and had a mocking expression on his face. Feng Yun narrowed his eyes. That was a very good tactic. By implanting a spy within our ranks, it would sow some disorder within the mercenaries and eliminate a large part of their offensive force. These guys shouldn't be capable of such tactics however. Though they possessed strong individual strength and virtually all of their members were of the Xiantian Realm, tactics like this needed to include someone with intelligence and a strong tactical background. Who? Feng Yun wondered.

"I see, you people are this despicable. You murdered one of my brothers and used such foul tactics to fight! Then, we shall slaughter you in vengeance for our brother's death." The chief had rage burning in his eyes and sorrow. The bald man cackled loudly and signaled the cavalry to move. The horsemen traveled fast and created a stampede. Behind them was fifty infantry charging at a strong pace. It didn't seem like anything could slow them down. The chief took another look at the dead elite commander's body before raising his sword.

"Do not let them pass! Kill them all!" The remaining three commanders appeared next to him, the same expressions filled with rage and sorrow. They took out their own spirits and stood there on their horses, ready to slaughter any who passed. Feng Yun and Xia Qing fired up Yuan Energy in their body as did the other battalions and mercenaries. They all had rage in their hearts and wished to spill the bandits' blood. They all had their spirits ready to destroy whatever foes that may meet them. The cavalry were the first to arrive as they swept the 1st and 2nd Battalions with their spirits. Blood mixed the air as weapons and beasts fought. The cavalry truly had quite the strength. They managed to push back the 1st and 2nd Battalions bit by bit while cutting them down. The offensive battalions were not weak however. They desperately fought with all their might, destroying the bandits's horses, limiting their momentum and movement. Two of the three elite commanders remaining joined the vanguard, attempting to stop the cavalry's charge. They truly possessed great strength but even they had trouble keeping up with the passing cavalry. The dust had also grown to a considerable extent such that visibility was hard.

Meanwhile, as the cavalry had wept the vanguard's ranks, the infantry had divided paths, choosing to go for the left and right flanks instead. This made it hard to pay attention to all the sides guarding the carriage. The last remaining commander was on the front lines as well with the chief so he couldn't be bothered to protect the flanks. Therefore, it was up to the battalions themselves to defend against the flanking assault. Feng Yun and the 5th Battalion was located on the left flank alongside the 3rd and 4th Battalions. Approximately twenty to thirty men from the bandits had come to attack them on the left flank so they had to be especially on guard. Fortunately, the left flank had Feng Yun. The bandits had a high morale so they did not hesitate to charge in. Feng Yun and the other battalions met them head on.

Feng Yun charged into the bandits's ranks, slashing with his sword wherever he went. He twisted and twirled about as his sword danced through the air. His sword pierced through every bandit he met's head, unleashing a spray of blood everywhere. He possessed twenty seven years worth of combat experience so how could he not be able to adjust himself to the intense battle. Even the thick armor that the bandits wore was no match for the Overlord Heaven Piercer that seemed to disregard that completely. Feng Yun was currently battling against two bandits at the same time. One brought down a large axe on top of his head. At the same time, another bandits charged straight at him with a sword ready to pierce his exposed back. Feng Yun narrowed his eyes and parried the incoming axe with his sword with such efficiency that the axe was knocked out of the bandit's hands. The man staggered back wards but Feng Yun wasn't done yet. While the man was still dazed, Feng Yun turned around to deal with the other one. The sword was still flying at his back but Feng Yun did not care. He threw the Overlord Heaven Piercer katana in a straight line at the man's head and completely pierced through. That was a good thing about the katana. It was very easy to maneuver and was very light despite it's great pressure. The other man had recovered from his daze and as he looked at Feng Yun decapitating his comrade, the man launched a fist full of Yuan Energy at his back. Feng Yun didn't even turn around as he launched a foot full of Yuan Energy at the man's chest. The kick even had traces of powerful lightning elemental Yuan Energy as it landed on the bandit's chest. The man's chest blew open completely and he fell to the floor with a shocked expression on his face.

"Raiding Thunder Palm Condensed Version-Raiding Thunder Kick." The power of the skill had multiplied greatly with the increase in Feng Yun's cultivation and now used Yuan Energy as the basis for the power.

Although he had dispatched his opponents with ease, Feng Yun still frowned slightly. This was because the situation was not completely going in their favor. He gazed at the front lines, which were covered in blood and dead people. He saw two figures battling each other in what seemed to be a deadly showdown. The chief and the bad commander of the bandits were locked in a death match and neither seemed to be letting up. Feng Yun had to admit, the bandit commander was very strong. His strength was not inferior to Dong Fuzhen's strength in the slightest. It even looked as if the bandit commander had a slight advantage.

"Damn bandit commander, I didn't think you would e this strong! However, even if you're strong, I must avenge my fallen brothers and sisters that died by your hand!"

"Hmph, ridiculous. Complete bravado. You think you can defeat me? You must be dreaming. if you want to beat me, you would need the support of one of your commanders and what commander of yours is not tied up with my men. By the time any one of them can help you, you'll be dead." The man held a valid point. Dong Fuzhen could not defeat him alone. He needed someone to help. However, who else besides his elite commanders could help Dong Fuzhen? All of his elite commanders were busy keeping themselves alive! Feng Yun contemplated for a bit. The strength of the bandit commander was approximately at the eighth layer of the Xiantian Realm. Although he couldn't kill him at his level of strength, he could at least tie the man up with his special methods long enough for Dong Fuzhen to kill him. Feng Yun glanced at Xia Qing who had just finished killing one of her own enemies. They locked eyes and Xia Qing nodded as she mouthed the word, go. Feng Yun smiled and rushed towards the front lines of the battlefield. It was time for Feng YUn to enter the fray of battle.
