Feng Yun stared in shock at the crumbling blood wall, that had apparently lost all of its energy and power. The great formation that was capable of slaying Asuras, was actually defeated just like that. As he thought about it a voice entered his head.

"Hoh? Not bad. This guy has clearly grasped some special methods. However, he wouldn't have been able to to do it if the formation had been utilized to its max potential." The voice clearly belonged to Warden and he was analyzing the techniques that Twin Viper had used with slight interest. Feng Yun immediately questioned him,

"How is it possible? Didn't you say that the large majority of Seekers and Bloodfiends would have been easily slaughtered by the formation? How is it that he is able to escape this rule?"

"Well...I did say 'large majority' right? There are those who grasp special enough methods to stand out among others of the same level as themselves. It's like you. Since you cultivate using the Universal Bindings technique, no one at the same cultivation level as you can beat you. Same here, except it is applied to formations." Feng Yun was intelligent and understood what he meant.

"So Twin Viper has a large degree of insight into formation and thus he was able to drive back the formation?"

"Exactly. These fools of beasts don't even understand the formation that they are playing with and thus their control over it is horrible. The man called Twin Viper can manipulate this formation easily since the opposition clearly is trash. Insight and enlightenment is key in gaining great strength. I imagine that he must have come across a great tribulation that allowed him to gain enlightenment. His performance is somewhat noteworthy despite his cultivation level being so low." Although Feng Yun couldn't understand the concept of enlightenment, he still got the gist of what Warden was telling him.

"What about the staff?"

The skull headed staff glared at its surroundings, the red gleam in its eyes not diminishing in the slightest. It gave off the feeling of extreme depth and power; and a craving for power.

"That staff is most likely an artifact used for formations, both creating and destroying them. Although it has a pretty good effectiveness, it depends on the user to be a formations expert. To you, it would be something akin to trash. In terms of rarity, I guess it would be lower than a Soul bone Artifact, but greater than a Truth or Tyrant Artifact." Then, Warden closed his mouth and entered a state of deep silence.

Looking back at the battle, Twin Viper clearly held the upper hand. The beast hordes had been thrown into disarray and their source of confidence had been destroyed. They were at their lowest point and if nothing was done, they would be completely massacred. The Howling Thunder Wolf was seething with rage, its hair unkempt and eyes red. In a rage filled voice it said,

"Formations...expert? You...why? My plan was perfect! We could have easily taken over your puny damn city! Why that hell did we lose?!" Twin Viper closed his eyes, a light tranquility filling the air. In a cold and indifferent voice he said,

"You were too reliant on this formation of yours. Too narrow minded. You didn't think of any other contingency plans if the formation failed. You were too arrogant and believed that there was no one your formation could not kill. Too greedy. You wished for something but was not prepared to give something in return for it. Too impatient. If you had waited another couple thousand years, perhaps you may have posed a threat to me. In short, you made plenty of mistakes!"

Twin Viper's words were like sharp knives to the Howling Thunder Wolf whose pride was very well known. He realized that Twin Viper was right and he had made many mistakes out of arrogance. Knowing that because of his false leadership, the whole plan had gone to waste, made him filled with regret, and anger.

"God damn it! You and your damn artifacts and knowledge and all the shit that you have. AHHH! Even if I die, I shall take you along with me!"

The wolf was ready to head into straight frontal confrontation with Twin Viper. However, there were still fellows who had unfinished business with the wolf. Three figures zoomed out of the wreckage of the blood wall, thick and furious energy coursing through their bodies as they made their way towards the wolf. Twin Viper lightly opened his eyes and said indifferently,

"It is not me who will end your existence. You angered me but it is not my right to kill you. It is left to those responsible for the city's matters that will end you." The three figures landed simultaneously right next to Twin Viper. The three figure were incredibly familiar, Wu Lao, the blue robed elder and the red robed elder Wu Kong. All three elders had furious and grief stricken facial expressions and emitted a fierce killing intent towards the wolf. Wu Lao bowed towards Twin Viper lightly and said,

"Ancestor, this foolish descendant thanks you very much for allowing us three brothers to escape. We are eternally regretful that we allowed one of your descendants and our brother to die at the hands of this wolf!"

"Li'er is dead. That cannot be changed. Go...take revenge for the brother that was killed by this foolish wolf."

Wu Lao nodded and sent a sharp glance at the other two elders. Both stared directly at the wolf and the killing intent in their bodies grew stronger.

"Hmph, what are you planning to do you stupid old men? You couldn't beat me before and you certainly won't be able to this time!" Wu Lao didn't reply and instead said in a low voice,

"KILL!"

The three elders sprung into action as their spirits came into full view. All three of them charged at the wolf without an ounce of hesitation. The death of their brother had made their hearts grow cold and unity stronger. It could be said that at this moment, the three elders were a terrifying force to be reckoned with.

"Even with your spirits, you won't be able to beat me!" The wolf raised its one arm that was left and the claws on it extended several fold. The killing intent in its eyes grew savage and it retaliated against the three pronged attack. Wu Lao's weapon spirit clashed with the sharp claws and sparks flew. Wu Lao used one of his spirit abilities and instantly the gravity around the two fighters grew stronger. The wolf felt an extreme oppression coming from the hammer that Wu Lao wielded and tried desperately to fight back against it. The two went on and off constantly for a few seconds before another figure joined the fight.

The blue robed elder utilized his sword spirit and appeared behind the wolf in an instant. He aimed a slash filled with power and elemental energy at the back. The wolf realized too late and the slash pierced his back. Gritting its teeth, the wolf flew backwards in an attempt to escape. Lightning bolts materialized around the pelt of the wolf and lit up with power.

"You bastards! Teaming up on me, do you feel no shame?!"

This narrative has been purloined without the author's approval. Report any appearances on Amazon.

"Hmph, shame? All of us want to have the pleasure of killing you, and we are impatient so we might as well do it at the same time." Wu Lao snorted coldly.

"Fuck. You guys are a bunch of stupid bitches!"

Lightning bolts shot out from the wolf's pelt and went straight at the elders like arrows. Wu Lao smashed his hammer against the thunders, each one disintegrating with the deflections. The blue robed elder did the same and unleashed a torrent of wind elemental energy at the wolf, materializing in the form of a tempest.

The wolf narrowed its eyes and lightning bolts fused together to form a great vortex of lightning. The vortex relentlessly absorbed the power of the tempest but it was still unable to dispel it. The red robed elder Wu Kong, who had remained silent this whole time sprung into action. Though his arms were severed by the blood net, he was still able to use most of his power. His eyes glowed red as he tore through the atmosphere and dived straight through the tempest and the vortex of lightning and guarded his head at the same time. The wolf was utterly terrified at this move.

"Is this guy crazy? No one just jumps straight through my vortex of lightning!"

Cuts appeared on Wu Kong's body but none of them were too deep. The body of Tyrant realm cultivators was far too strong to be able to be pierced so easily. Wu Kong shot straight through the vortex of lightning and emerged on the other side, his eyes searching for the wolf. Sure enough, his gaze landed on the furry pelt and killing intent flashed through his eyes. The wolf had been shocked to see the elder appear on the other side and wasn't quick enough to react.

"Die wolf!"

Wu Kong directed his killing intent towards the wolf and attempted to suppress it. The wolf felt a domineering pressure keeping him strictly in one place. Wu Kong utilized his speed to the maximum to reach the wolf's position, stepping towards it. He reached out towards the wolf with a bloody hand and found its neck, giving it a tight squeeze. The wolf was choking and struggling to breathe.

"No...no. Stop! I'll do anything for you. Any...thing! Just don't kill me!" The wolf's voice gurgled through its throat as it tried desperately to make peace with Wu Kong. In response to this Wu Kong let out a cold smile and said,

"What a shameless bastard of a dog! First you are so confident in killing us and now here you are, begging me to spare you. Well, I am afraid that you won't be given an easy death! No, we will torture you until you are hoping for death!" The wolf's eyes widened and it struggled to break free of Wu Kong's grasp. Unfortunately for the wolf, the bodies of Truth realm cultivators were comparatively weaker than Tyrant realm cultivators. Furthermore, it had already been severely injured by Twin Viper prior to fighting against the three elders. It had no chance of escaping. As it pondered its fate, the other two elders arrived next to Wu Kong. Wu Lao said,

"How do you want to torture him?"

"Good question. I am thinking that we should cut off his other claw first. That thing did nasty stuff to us and had quite long nails. We should trim it for him don't you think?" Wu Kong said, an evil smile on his face. The blue robed elder solemnly nodded in agreement to the other two.

"No...not my claw!"

Wu Kong didn't care for the pleas and cries of the wolf and he unleashed his spirit, which was a great spear. The spear hovered in the air, waiting for the command of its master. Since Wu Kong had no arms left, he could only use his mental power to do so. The spear moved in accordance of his wished and shot straight through the wolf's other arm. It punctured the arm slowly, so as to make it torturous for the wolf. Pain coursed through the beast's body as it shook violently and cried. Wu Kong's spear soon went out the other end and he ordered it to spin, completely tearing off the arm of the wolf.

"AHHH....AH...AH!"

The wolf panted in pain and hatred for the elders arose. However, it was in no position to do anything in retaliation and could only await the suffering that would come soon. The blue robed elder stepped forward and his sword hung at his sides. The wolf had a bad feeling of what was to come.

"Next is my turn. I would like to cut off this fucker's legs that made him so hard to catch with him running around the last time that we fought."

Wu Lao nodded and made way for the blue robed elder. The old man walked straight up to the wolf, whose eyes were trying to tell him 'no'. The blue robed elder didn't care and raised his sword high into the air. Then, in a swift motion, he sliced it downwards, the legs and bones of the wolf becoming severed in an instant. The blue robed elder, despite his rage, did not like making things too slow when he killed people. He walked back and saw the state of the wolf, who seemed to have lost its soul after losing so many body parts.

"Finally, my turn. One of the things that got me so infuriated about you was your mouth. Perhaps that should be the last part!"

Wu Lao walked forward and stood before the wolf being held in the air by Wu Kong. A cold smile made its way on the face of the old City Lord and instead of drawing his hammer spirit out, he raised his fist instead. Wu Lao was a Tyrant realm cultivator and thus could make his bones and body parts as strong or as sharp as knives. Wu Kong opened up the mouth of the wolf without much resistance. Wu Lao aimed his jack knifed fist at the interior of the mouth and shot it straight through. The fist went right out the skull of the wolf, the gore and fluids of the head exploding outwards. The flesh dropped down from the skies, seeming like a rain of blood. Wu Lao pulled out his fist and let the wolf's corpse drop down to the ground. Watching it fall he whispered to himself,

"Brother Wu Li, we have avenged you. May your soul rest in peace in the heavens."

The three elders similarly said such things with closed eyes and decided to head back to the city. Twin Viper was still hovering in the air, his green hair flying about in the wind. The three elders flew towards him and cupped their hands in respect.

"Great ancestor! We have avenged our kin!"

"Good. Then let us go back to the city."

"What about those other beast hordes?"

"Them? They are nothing. An army without a commander is like chicken running around headless. There isn't any direction for them to go. In time, they will split up and chaos shall reign in their army. Mere small fries are not worthy of mentioning." Wu Lao nodded at Twin Viper's statement. It made perfect logical sense.

The crowd saw the four cultivators heading back towards the city and whispered to themselves with excitement. They had all saw the powerful and brutal display that the elders had put on and admired their strength. They moved out of the streets to make way for the people. Feng Yun had remained mostly calm but the display of strength was deeply been rooted in his mind.

"When will I be able to be this powerful?"

"Kid, you think too small." Warden interrupted his thoughts. "There are realms of power out there you wouldn't even believe. They are far beyond the likes of Asuras or Seekers or Bloodfiends."

"Truly?"

"Definitely. Kid, these realms that are regarded as 'supreme' in this continent are only the beginning of cultivation."
