Whew, this chapter took quite the effort to make. I was pretty happy that I got to work on this chapter since I have Monday off because of snow days. Oh man, I am so not psyched to go back to school. Well, it is inevitable. Anyways, enjoy this chapter!

Feng Yun did not reply to Warden's comment due to the impossibility of it happening. However, he was forced to accept the truth because the energy being emitted by the Green Fanged Eagle was not that different from the Beserker Devil divine ability that Mo Han possessed. The exception being that the type was completely different. But just the feel, was enough to make Feng Yun instantly more cautious.
"I never would have expected that this eagle would use 'that method' to get the divine ability and still succeed!" Warden mused to himself. Feng Yun naturally heard this and quickly questioned him.
"What do you mean by 'that method'? The Green Fanged Eagle isn't supposed to have a divine ability. I read it in the books. If it had a divine ability, then it would not have been this close to extinction!"
"Well, that is indeed true, but in some cases there are exceptions."
"And what is that exception."
"Well, if a beast and another beast do that thing between a man and a woman, there is a chance for the beast that has lower power to receive power from the higher level beast. In this case, what was gifted was a divine ability. However, keep in mind that this method is extremely hard and it doesn't work all the time. The transfer of power is luck-based only. This sort of method also allows the sharing of cultivation, special body physique or even bloodline!"
"So it was something like that. But...doesn't that mean that the Green Fanged Eagle in front of us has a mate that is much stronger than it?" Feng Yun's face began to turn solemn as he made the connection and he realized that he may have run into a problem.
"Ahh...yes that is true indeed. Furthermore, since this divine ability belongs to the mate, then the mate should be a noble beast from the Immortal Fiendlands. Why it moved, I have no idea. So, I estimate it's strength to be of at least the Truth or Tyrant Realm." Warden finished his conclusion.
"..." Feng Yun was utterly speechless. To have a background such as that, could it be that he provoked someone that he shouldn't have? By fatally injuring its mate, that noble beast shouldn't take it lightly. In fact, worst case scenario is that it hunts him down until it finds him.
"Shit, should I retreat and instead escape from the scene or should I proceed with the job?" Feng Yun was in conflict with himself.
"It is not hopeless. You should kill this eagle fast and steal her blood. After that, it is best to bury it under layers of rock and stone. Wash off the blood everywhere as well. Furthermore, adding to your young appearance, even if you somehow meet the mate, he will not think that you had anything to do with her death. What twelve year old can match a master of the sixth layer of the Xiantian Realm? But of course, you first need to deal with the divine ability in front of you." Hearing this, Feng Yun glanced upwards, almost forgetting that he still had an opponent who had not died yet. She had eyes that had turned bright red and her aura surged forward, clashing tightly with the defense that Feng Yun had put up. It was not easy and Feng Yun appeared to be in a bad spot. The fire Yuan Energy appeared to explode from her mouth directly at Feng Yun. The latter was shocked as he had never thought that this divine ability of hers could let her control the elements! Feng Yun could materialize a bit of lightning, but that was only because the Dragon Inheritance Manual permitted it. He could only truly materialize the elements into its true form if he reached the level of the Truth Realm. Feng Yun didn't dare to block it and without hesitation, he activated his Wind Transferrer ability and landed a few meters away from the flame.
Sweat dripped down his face because that encounter had been too close. The flame tongue that had surged toward him actually possessed a frightening speed! He did not have time to contemplate as a hurricane of flames flew at him, being materialized by the power of the Green Fanged Eagle's wings. The hurricane seemed to be alive, with its flames dancing through the air and the countless strands of Yuan Energy flashing towards him. The hurricane contained what looked to be thousands of flame tongues which were all incomparably powerful. They also covered up a large surface area which made it extremely difficult to evade. Feng Yun brought out his katana and hacked away at the flames at the same time injecting water Yuan Energy onto the blade's tip so as to alleviate the power being thrown at him. At the same time, he brought out the Void element from within him and willed to eat up the flames. However, he had forgotten that his Void aura was quite weak at the moment and could not be compared to Truth level opponents.
The Void aura struggled to swallow the fire energy that flew into its mouth but the more it accumulated the more it got full. The Green Fanged Eagle noticed this and doubled its efforts to fill up the Void element. Feng Yun narrowed his eyes. Shit, this thing actually has a limit to the amount of elemental energy it can absorb? He received a bad premonition from the current situation and hurriedly attempted to draw the aura back into his body. Unfortunately, it was too late and the Void aura began to emit moaning sounds. It seemed to try to expand but it could not. Then, a fiery red color emerged in the center and spread outwards. Feng Yun realized what was happening and jumped backwards.
BOOM!!!
The Void element internally combusted detonating the entire substance. Of course, Feng Yun could make more with his body but he was quite surprised at the development of the situation.
"It seems that the Void element is of no use in defeating this divine ability." Feng Yun glanced at the tyrannical hurricane of flames only a few feet away from him and struck out with his sword. The flames were rapidly cut down by fast and intensive sword strokes that seemed to cause ripples to appear in the atmosphere. However, the flames would gather back and recombine in the massive hurricane. The flames swept themselves together and continued on its course towards Feng Yun. All this time, the Green Fanged Eagle was controlling it, but with great difficulty since the power was not her own.
"Why didn't this eagle use the divine ability in the beginning of the battle?"
"This divine ability does not belong to the Green Fanged Eagle's bloodline. Naturally, if she uses it, there is bound to be heavy consequences. In this case, its quite fatal. If she used it before, she had a certain chance of dying. However, now that she knows that she is going to die anyways, there is nothing to lose. Not only that, the element that she has the most affinity to is not fire, but water." Feng Yun nodded his head at Warden's reply. That made more sense. Feng Yun gritted his teeth. He would have to use the higher tier skills he had in order to dispel the hurricane. Problem was that they costed too much Yuan Energy.
Feng Yun charged lightning Yuan Energy into his palms and circulated through the rest of his body, traveling past the dantian as well as his meridians. Once he had gathered enough Yuan Energy, he decided to execute the move. The clouds began to grow darker as and thunder crackled along them. A heavy aura descended upon the battleground and made even the now transformed Green Fanged Eagle very cautious.
"Hell Thunder Dragon's Descent!"
A dark silhouette resembling that of a dragon descended from the clouds like a royal deity. The dragon was huge and contained a massive amount of power. This dragon was the very definition of a godly being, its eyes looking down upon the world with a pride and arrogance that seemed to shake the hearts of those who looked upon it. Though it was only an incorporeal image, it still had a terrifying presence and shocked the eagle out of its wits.
ROAR!!!
The dragon gave a mighty roar as it flew down at an amazing speed like a bolt of lightning, throwing itself straight through the hurricane of flames, its full power exploding forth upon touching the flames. The lightning Yuan Energy swallowed the flames and engulfed it in its aura. Soon, the hurricane dissipated as did the dragon. That was the third chapter of the Dragon Inheritance Manual for you, Feng Yun thought. He kneeled on the ground slightly, his face somewhat pale. The Green Fanged Eagle was no better. It had coughed out a large amount of blood and the fire Yuan Energy it was releasing had dimmed slightly. It looked with shock at the boy kneeling on the ground who had shattered an attack from a divine ability belonging to her very own mate. Of course, the power was much weaker when being used by the Green Fanged Eagle but it still held astonishing capabilities! The Green Fanged Eagle had hoped to take the boy out with it but it appears that this boy was too strong for that.
It began to sink down into the ground, its body becoming heavier by the second. It's eyelids drooped with tiredness and a sense of happiness to be released from the pain. The only regret she had was that she could not see her children grow up or even hatch for that matter. She glanced towards the boy who had defeated her. Her gaze intensified on him and Feng Yun stared right back. There were words that were unspoken but both knew what the other was trying to communicate. Feng Yun would honor his promise and leave the eggs alone thus leaving the Green Fanged Eagle in peace. The Green Fanged Eagle could not help but think of her mate, the majestic bird that ruled over many skies, a nearly incomparable existence. The flames that danced on top of his back and his overwhelming power was what had earned her mate the respect from the other noble beasts of the Immortal Fiendlands. The Scarlet Phoenix was known throughout the world. It was surprising that a divine beast such as the Scarlet Phoenix's very own mate would be here, in a desolate forest such as this one. Why would she not be in the Immortal Fiendlands? The Green Fanged Eagle closed its eyes and its breath began to cease. It had finally died.

Feng Yun stared at it for a while before the urge to vomit blood overcame him. A large mouthful of blood came pouring out with no reservations whatsoever. He had been holding back his internal injuries during the fight but he now felt the need to let it out. Feng Yun had truly been done a number on by that eagle. In the end, he had won the battle, but it had truly been tough. He had enjoyed every point of the battle however and even received some rewards. Excitedly, Feng Yun forgot his internal injuries as he made his way towards the body of the eagle. He took out a vial from his Void Universal Manual and held it to the eagle's chest. He then made a medium sized incision and watched as the blood poured into the vial. It came a bit slowly at first but then gradually flowed faster and eventually filled the whole vial. The amount of blood was enough for him and Xia Qing to advance their cultivation by a layer. The blood was extremely valuable and could not be wasted.
He placed the vial back into his Void Universal Manual and looked at the body of the eagle. It was stained in blood and reeked of torn flesh. He brought the body to a lake to wash it of stains and smell so that if the mate came to look for it, he would not locate him based on smell. After a few minutes of constant washing, he brought it once more back to the original location of the eggs. Feng Yun dug a hole in the ground sufficient to hold the massive body of the eagle. After that, he covered the hole under layers and layers of dirt. He had made sure that there were no bloodstains in the battlefield at all. As for the eggs, the were placed near the grave of the mother. Feng Yun didn't plan to take the rest of the body of the Green Fanged Eagle out of respect. The eagle had allowed for his training to make massive progress and stabilize his Void aura considerably. Not only that, he was able to experience a great life and death battle. He took one last glance at the spot where the body was hidden before leaving towards the camp. He did not look back a single time for fear of seeing the eagle's mate right behind him. All was silent on the battlefield after he left and not a single beast that heard of the battle dared to come forward.
IMMORTAL FIENDLANDS
Two men, both being approximately middle aged appeared to be conversing together in a friendly fashion. One of them wore a fiery red robe and seemed quite handsome with his red hair while the other onesitting across from him had a white robe and a somewhat normal facial appearance. The white one had a smile on his face as he asked,
"Haha, Brother Scarlet Phoenix, it has been a pleasure to see you after a long time my friend. I assume you should be heading back to your wife now?"
"Ah yes, Brother Black Salamander. I haven't seen my wife in a while and I best be heading back. After all, my children are to be born soon." The red robed man replied with a smile. He seemed to be with glee about his incoming children.
"Haha, then good luck. Say hello to your wife for me."
"I will indeed...eh?" The red robed man suddenly frowned. Black Salamander was confused, why did Scarlet Phoenix's expression just change.
"Brother Scarlet Phoenix, what is wrong? Did something happen?"
"Yes, I believe so. You see, I placed a formation on my wife such that if she ever used my divine ability, I would immediately know. But, she wouldn't do that unless she was absolutely sure she was going to die." Scarlet Phoenix began to grow worried and had a bad premonition. Black Salamander's face also turned pale. In a whispering voice he said,
"But your wife cannot handle the divine ability without sacrificing her life force. Even if she did indeed face a great expert, I am confident her evading abilities should have been able to get her out of trouble. But for her to use the divine ability means that..."
"Damn it! Someone tried to kill my wife. I need to get back...now! I'm terribly sorry for the abrupt ending to our meeting, Brother Black Salamander. I need to go help my wife!" Scarlet Phoenix's expression turned ugly.
"Do you need me to come with you?" Black Salamander nodded his head and offered a suggestion.
"No", Scarlet Phoenix said evilly. "I will teach whoever dared to mess with my wife personally, who exactly it is they are offending!"
The red robed man transformed into a humongous fiery red bird, its size utterly unbelievable. The pressure it gave off was not something that any person could just casually confront. The Scarlet Phoenix flapped its wings and instantly covered hundreds of kilometers. Soon, he was far from the Black Salamander's range of sight. It did not take long before the Scarlet Phoenix reached the location where his wife was supposed to be. He transformed into his human form and inspected the battlefield. There were signs of destruction and chaos where he stood. He was already feeling sick. This confirmed that his wife had indeed gotten into a fight. He looked around and noticed that there was slight gusts of wind left from when the Green Fanged Eagle had taken off into the air. The Scarlet Phoenix noticed this and nodded his head. The opponent must have been stronger than she had expected so his wife had decided to flee with the eggs. However, just as he noticed his wife's gusts of wind, he also caught on to another remnant of the gusts. Strangely enough, the gusts were not his wife's. Flight, the Scarlet Phoenix thought. The enemy was capable of flight.
His expression turned solemn. If the enemy could fly, then that was a problem. They were either a Truth or Tyrant Realm expert or they possessed a wing type Soul Bone Artifact. The latter scenario seemed too unlikely so Scarlet Phoenix decided it was most likely that the attacker was of the same realm as itself. They had to have extended their battle to another location. He spread out his sense to encompass the whole entire forest. After a minute of searching, he found another scene of chaos and battle and immediately headed there. What he saw scared him even more than the previous battlefield. This was because he noticed the intense fire Yuan Energy lingering in the air and concluded bitterly that his wife had indeed used the divine ability. He knew clearly what the outcome would be if his wife used it and tears streamed down his face. He went into a frenzy.
"WHERE IS SHE?!" A massive fire pillar erupted from the man's body burning the entire forest in an instant as well as all of the beasts that resided within it. He looked around, his eyes completely red from anger. He was an exalted noble of the Immortal Fiendlands, a divine beast. The number of people who would dare offend him were few. Even understanding that, the assailant still pursued his wife? Unbelievable! The Scarlet Phoenix's rage was overflowing and the killing intent showering over every living thing, making them appear like ants.
SWOOSH!
The divine beast turned around and heard the sound that came out of nowhere. Then, the earth a few feet near him began to cave in, revealing a large hole big enough to store a large amount of something. The divine beast's eyes flashed and he walked over to the hole. It seems the hole had been revealed by the fire pillar he had released upon the forest. He carefully gazed at the insides of the hole and what he saw shocked him. There she was, with her green feathers slightly ruffles and holes in her body, his wife. The Scarlet Phoenix shuddered for a moment before realizing that the body inside the hole was indeed his wife. He carefully dragged the body out of the pit, his eyes completely dark from the shock.
"Chun'er, it is truly you? You...are dead? How...Who killed you? AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" The Scarlet Phoenix let out a roar so loud that even people over a few kilometers away could hear it clearly. Tears streamed down his slightly handsome face and his hands delicately stroked the beak of the eagle. After a moment, noticed something out of the corner of his eye. They glowed green and were very large. His eggs, his children were actually alive! He ran over to his eggs and brought them close to the eagle while crying.
"At least my eggs are spared. Oh my god, how are they spared?" He hugged the eggs close to himself, as if they would disappear if he didn't. Very quickly, his gaze turned from sorrowful, to an expression full of coldness. Even the eggs could feel their father's radiating aura encompassing the entire area. The temperature turned up quite a lot. He calmed down a bit and stroked the eggs with compassion. He smiled coldly and said,
"Shhh, don't worry. Father is okay. Father will go avenge your mother and slaughter the person who killed her. From the looks of it, she shouldn't have died too long ago. I will find that person, and then I will burn all that they care about!" The Scarlet Phoenix's words carried a conviction that seemed unshakable. He brought out a interspatial material to store his eggs safely and prepared to leave. In his eyes carried a coldness that could frighten even the most mentally strong of people.
"Wait for me, arrogant idiot. You have made me pay attention to you now. Do not think that I will let you escape my grasp so easily. Once I find you, you will die the most painful death one could ever experience." The Scarlet Phoenix muttered under its breath before transforming and riding the air once more.
