Ω25.0: Carl Is Shocked By A Gatekeeper

Six years had passed.

Six years, and it still looked the same.

How fucking boring could a city be?

A human's head turned to the left.

On the leftmost side of the main gates of Onyxfell, near the gate to D-one, a moment passed under watchful eyes, and then a man—a gladiator, just by the looks of him—launched into the air, flailing his arms madly as though pretending to fly. At the beginning of his lengthy descent, he changed motions, now pretending to swim downwards towards the ground.

It was a jumping contest, obviously.

D-one was where the patricians lived, but the ones challenging its gate were mostly just idiots.

It was known as Porta Impossibilis for a reason.

Even after six years, there were still so many idiots who tried.

Boring.

"Next," called the gladiator at the D-four gate, a young woman with short, red hair who was roughly twenty years of age, holding one of the pads of paper that had become so popular seven or so years ago as well as a weird thing that looked to be used for writing.

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

She was nobody important.

Probably.

Her legs were mediocre at best.

Maybe six years had been too long?

Yeah, that was probably…

Huh.

It wasn't.

The girl looked up. "Citizen, or—"

Metal glinted, and the badge of a gladiator glittered in the light of the afternoon suns.

It was the badge of a specific gladiator.

A unique badge.

The gatekeeper's mouth dropped open, her eyes bulged, and the pad of paper fell from her hands.

Maybe coming back was a bad way to waste time?

"S-S-S-S…" the girl stuttered, unable to speak coherently, her eyes fixed to the sparkling blue jewel in the center of the badge.

Eh.

Maybe just a few days.

There had to be something fun to do here.

Probably as long as nobody noticed…

"Victory be upon you," were the only words said to the stunned, wide-eyed girl who had been randomly chosen from among the unscheduled gladiators to have the honor of guarding the gate to D-four.

Today happened to be the day that the undefeated gladiator known as Scorpio Fulminis returned to Onyxfell.
