Chapter 60 : Druids & Spirits, Taking Charge of The Situation

Druids.

A race that was said to have come about through the combination of a mutation of plant life, energy, and the DNA of their creator and his wife.

As they did not have differing DNA from each other, this was the main reason that all druids looked the same.

The females all looked like the wife of the creator of druids. The only difference was that they were fully green.

All the males took the appearance of the creator himself with the only difference again being that they were fully green.

Druids had a wide roster of inborn abilities ranging from plant manipulation, shape-shifting, charm, and much more.

The most dangerous abilities however that other races were wary of were the ability to manipulate feelings which most referred to as charm.

The ability to manipulate what others referred to as the mind or soul and also their ability to summon spirits easily.

Spirit summoning was something that close to any race could do but druids could be said to be the masters of it.

A druid who had a green and amber flower with some purple at the bottom on her forehead turned to her comrades.

“Hmmm, I didn’t hear anything when we landed.”

“The boorish humans must have escaped somehow.”

The druid in the middle who had a black flower with long strands on his forehead shook his head.

“Humans are not fast, they might just be in hiding waiting to ambush us.”

“The ones with a little bit of strength at least.”

He then turned to all his comrades.

“Remember the mission briefing.”

“We’ve come to this disgusting place to get our hands on two things.”

“One is the hybrid Kenric.”

Hearing the name, all the druids' faces contorted in disgust.

Even the person who was giving the brief.

He didn’t know why their boss was so obsessed with capturing some filthy hybrid but it wasn’t their place to meddle.

“Two is the lytis lily.”

Hearing the second part, the entire group nodded.

Being druids, locating flowers could be done by instinct and as they had gotten a whiff of one before the mission it would be easy for them to locate the flower.

The group of five didn’t mind some risk but an easy meal was an easy meal.

The leader then was about to make a motion with his arm.

“Alright, then get-go-”

The leader froze, and the other druids were confused by him suddenly stopping.

Before he could give the command, one of his contracted spirits were freaking out.

“Wait a second, one of my spirits are trying to tell me something.”

He focused on his chest where all the spirits that a druid contracted would usually remain until someone summoned them.

The spirit that was freaking out seemed to just be a woman with a long white dress on with curly black hair.

The features that made her look a little strange were that she had one eye, no nose, and her mouth and eye shifted a lot.

“What’s going on? Before we started you told me that we would have been fine.”

The spirit readjusted her face a bit before talking.

“I made a mistake with the precognition I gave you before.”

Usually, when I give you advice about the future I can see any obstacles in red, green, orange, and black.

The Druid nodded. I know, you told me this before.

Red stands for dangerous people I have to steer clear of no matter what.

Green stands for those who pose no harm to me.

Orange is for those who might be a bit hard to manage and for black is those who are uncertain even for fate

Due to the area being surrounded by green and there being only one black spot I deemed it safe.

But after getting another vision of the immediate future I realized that the black spot was covering a red spot.

Which caused me to speculate wrongly.

This caused the leader to freak out.

He knew how to the T this spirit’s precognition abilities were.

After all, she was a banshee. A Banshee’s main ability was to give glimpses of the future so that their hosts would survive longer.

A banshee was considered a four-leaf rarity spirit to druids.

Which in combatant ranking would be around an S rank level weapon.

The ranking system that druids used for strength, authority, item level, and more was the same.

Druids were fans of keeping things as simple as they needed to be.

Druid rankings went like this :

No leaf: G rank and below

1 leaf: F- rank to E+ rank

2 leaf : D- to C+ rank

3 leaf: B- to A+

4 leaf: S- to S+

5 leaf: Unclassified to ???

It was due to her being a rare 4-leaf weapon and her track record that he usually never doubted her readings.

Along with the fact that across his 10 years of using her, the amount of times she’s messed up has been twice, with this being the second mistake so far.

Taking some time to process the situation, the Druid leader calmed down.

“What else should I know?”

The spirit’s limited facial features started panicking.

I called you in because I realized that the black dot is close to where we currently are.

Leaving where his spirits were located. He knew what his spirit was trying to tell him.

Unfortunately, as he was about to inform his team of what he found out.

The moment he got out, Trista lightly kicked one of the giant yellow spirit’s legs.

The Druid who was sitting on the spirit’s shoulders was puzzled upon seeing what Trista was trying to do.

The total amount of power a spirit could exert depended on the strength of the summoner.

A perfect analogy was that spirits were like a tap water pipe and druids were the hose.

Spirits used the energy from the vital core of druids to materialize themselves, attack others, and more.

As a race, all spirits, even the newborn ones were usually always at the top of the food chain.

You’d think that with how powerful they were humans would be doomed but by sheer luck humanity survived when spirits came about.

The rift in the world of spirits didn’t come about until around a year after humans discovered the first rift.

By then the talent of one of the world’s strongest, the elemental queen was fully realized.

She was one of the first to enter the spirit rift and upon exiting with some injuries, ended up sealing it off on both sides.

Claiming it as the 8th unconquerable rift of humankind.

Spirits were not a race that anyone took lightly.

So for a druid who was at two-leaf strength with her strongest spirit being the one that her team was on.

She thought Trista was some delirious human who couldn’t cope with the situation.

‘Unless you’re at the three-leaf level like the leader’

‘Then the chances of even injuring this guy is nonexistent’

‘It’s really sad that most humans struggle like ants just to mimic a fraction of what we’re born with’

What this Druid didn’t expect however was that not only did a light kick of Trista injure her spirit but it flipped her, the spirit, and the Druids over.

‘What the hell happened!?’

Furthermore, the leg of the spirit that Trista kicked broke off.

“ Serves you bastards right.”

“Of all places why destroy the candy apple stall?”

Trista then stuck out her middle finger and tongue.

While Reno and Kenric wanted to facepalm themselves. They smiled because they knew Trista was here.

Although Reno felt a bit conflicted as Trista always coming in clutch all the time had been one of the main reasons he hadn’t ended up in some new world by now.

Trista then moved her hand in a weird manner

“”Kenric call headquarters.“”

“”Reno check on the guard if he’s unconscious then try waking him up.“”

It wasn’t the first time it’s happened but having someone speak into your head all of a sudden like Trista was doing now was a pretty weird experience.

“”“”I’ll hold them off until we get some help “”“”

Listening to Trista’s instructions, Reno nodded and then went to wake up the unconscious guard.
