Chapter 49 : Focus Skill Is Activated, The Class President Is Chosen

Squa- Sugarplum then began to attack those who were nearest to him.

One minute seemed like it would be a long period of time.

In actuality though, it seemed like seconds to all the students in the classroom.

Red-colored energy coated Sugarplum’s hands, which proved that he was a brawler.

‘Fuck, I definitely can’t let myself get hit.’

It was unlucky that Reno was close to the guy that got attacked first but that didn’t mean he couldn’t try running.

After Sugarplum had punched another student putting them out of commission.

He wanted to try running closer to the front of the classroom.

He wanted to try and bail from the situation, but knowing Melia, he thought otherwise.

When he was about to begin running, a girl with white hair and blue eyes pushed Reno right into Sugarplum’s range.

Reno was in disbelief.

‘Fuck!’

When he turned around, he saw that the girl was freaking out.

She seemed to be pushing everyone around her closer to Sugarplum to last longer.

Reno understood what she was trying to do but that didn’t mean he wanted to be on the receiving end of it.

Seeing that Reno was entering his attacking range.

Sugarplum charged up an attack with energy infused into it.

With what little time Reno had.

He unsheathed ‘Greving Maiden’ and got ready to receive the blow.

‘Now that I’m here, if I have to fight then I’ll fucking fight till I’m almost dead.’

‘That’s what I’ve been doing all this time if anything.’

[Focus skill: Assign a task]

‘Fight anyone in a 5-meter radius as long as possible’

[Task starting: Fight anyone in a 5-meter radius as long as possible]

Ever since Reno had faced off against Koa and Kori.

He made sure to save a certain amount of focus time if he needed it

The reason he didn’t do it at first.

Is because he was worried that the full time would not reset if he hadn’t used all of it.

After testing it out a few times though.

He found that the cool-down reset like usual, giving him all his allotted time like usual.

When the focus skill took control.

Sugarplum’s fist was right in front of Reno.

[Never-ending Sorrow] + [Parry] + [Quick Step]

The focus skill was told to fight and so it did.

When Sugarplum’s hand touched Reno’s blade.

Reno’s body shifted Sugarplum’s hand so that the wind generated by it went to the right.

His body then used quickstep to go behind Sugarplum.

‘Oh… This one is not too bad.’

‘Instead of trying to survive, he’s attacking instead it seems.’

Reno was freaking out a bit on the inside.

‘Fuck! The rules I gave were too vague! I might end up attacking any and everyone.’

‘I was rushed for time but next time I need to think out a set of instructions before getting into any fights.’

Sugarplum turned around but according to Melia’s rules, he couldn’t attack.

That didn’t mean that he couldn’t block though.

‘A second-year kid getting through my block is impossible.’

‘This is why Melia needed me for this job after all.’

He coated his arms with energy and layered one arm over the other to block Reno.

What he didn’t expect, however, was that the focus skill did not have much idea of how strong he was.

This caused it to dish out everything it could manage.

[Stab] + [Cut]

When Reno used [Stab] some of Sugarplum’s energy had cracked which surprised not only him but Melia.

Before he could reinforce it with any more energy though.

He saw Reno about to hit him with a vertical sword strike.

The next thing he knew, he was flying across the classroom and his body crashed into the board.

This surprised everyone in the classroom, especially Melia.

‘HAHAHA! Who in blazing hells is this guy!?’

‘I don’t think I’m supposed to have someone this strong in my class.’

‘Squa- Sugarplum is a certified D+ rank combatant.’

‘He might have been holding back as much as he could to not harm the student but even so…’

‘Someone would need to be able to strike with around the full force of E+ rank to send him flying.’

‘No one in my class should be capable of that.’

Even Reno was somewhat surprised.

He usually only sparred with against Cassia with Grania when they all had the time.

During those spars, he had not been able to ever do any damage to Cassia.

This caused him to assume that he was just a bit stronger than the average 2nd-year student at this point.

Now that Sugarplum was out of the focus skill’s 5-meter radius.

It turned to the next closet target to it.

Which happened to be the girl with white hair and blue eyes.

Seeing Reno’s gaze, cold sweat started to form on the back of the girl.

“It was an accident! I didn’t mean it!”

If the focus skill was able to, it would have already used quick step but it was on cool-down.

This caused it to instead just start running to the girl.

Reno could have deactivated his focus skill but he was tired of his ass always being on the chopping block.

‘Fuck you! Let’s see how you like it when it’s your turn.’

From what he knew, as long as it wasn’t fatal then it should be fine.

He was sure that it wasn’t him alone who saw when the girl had pushed him to get his face punched in.

The girl knew what was coming to her but still tried to struggle.

She used her energy combined with a psychic skill to fling Reno’s blade out of his hand.

It was only after seeing that his blade was 10 meters away that she sighed.

Wasting no time, the focus skill pulled out the blade he had gotten from the academy and did all it could.

[Stab] + [Cut]

The girl also made sure to activate a shield around her but the same with how [Stab] broke Sugarplum’s block.

Her shield was no exception to Stab’s defense-breaking capabilities.

As soon as her shield broke.

She saw Reno’s blade over her head coming down quickly like a guillotine.

In her panic, she activated everything she could.

Whether it be her necklace, rings with defense skills, or some more of her shields.

No matter what she put up, the [Cut] skill mowed through all of them like butter.

Before she knew it, the force of the academy’s sword struck her head and body.

She was somehow spared some of the force, however, as the blade broke a short while after it collided with her head.

The focus skill still made sure to finish the job and landed a kick right in her stomach.

This launched her right back to where Sugarplum had collided with the wall.

The focus skill was about to go to someone else but Reno had deactivated it.

‘Payback served up! Man, I feel so much better already, even if she was a minor evil.’

Reno then walked to go and get back ‘Grieving Maiden’

Wherever he walked, the students made sure to clear the way.

To them, at this moment.

Reno seemed like an anomaly, a stupidly strong anomaly.

He then picked up his sword and put it back in its sheathe.

When he turned around, he saw that Melia was sitting on her desk.

Sugarplum was standing beside her with the white-haired girl on his shoulder.

Reno’s strikes had sent him flying but didn’t seem to have done any actual damage.

She then started to clap.

“Impressive, Impressive."

"I didn’t know that we had a future elite combatant in our class.”

“I don’t know why you’re showing your strength now but I don’t give two fucks if it was now or your last year.”

“I’ll acknowledge what you’ve shown.”

“Being able to launch Sugarplum alone is already class prez level shit.”

“Dun Da Dun! Class prez goes to …, goes to…”

Reno sighed. “Name’s Reno Mochizuki.”

Melia snapped her finger when she heard Reno’s name.

“Yup! It goes to Reno Mochizuki!”

“To all you five suckers, I feel bad for making stage one and it not having any payoff.”

“Reno can choose one of you five to be the vice president.”

“For now though. See ya!”

Sugarplum then placed Melia on his shoulder and they left the classroom.
