Chapter 17 : Backstories, A Sinister Plot (2)

When Reno fell asleep, he was out for a while before going back to the same situation that happened when he went to bed the day before.

Reno then saw something like a video of himself earlier when he was raising the proficiency of the parry skill. Even though this was the second time he was seen, it still amazed him.

When the focus skill used his body to practice skills, if it fixed a mistake then it would never make it again.

To compare it, other people could be said to be running and then walking back before running some more, so they made progress but just not a lot.

When Reno watched his focus skill in action, using the same example, it was as if he ran for a while and then stopped and then repeated.

Causing him to progress much faster than if he just trained by himself for hours.

Seeing the screen, Reno started pointing out mistakes that he saw, unadjusted stance, wasted movement, etc.

As if the screen could hear him, it adjusted to fix any mistake that Reno saw making each consequent parry more and more refined.

After some time, the video and everything disappeared and Reno fell back into the usual sleeping cycle.

[In Reno’s Asleep Mind]

Ren woke up in a seemingly old and rancid apartment before doing his usual morning routine of brushing his teeth and then getting ready for school.

He checked the time and realized he was around 5 minutes late for school. Ren got afraid, the last time he was late for school he got slapped by his mother with a threat to increase the punishment for the next time.

When he went to the living room, he didn’t see anyone so he thought he was safe, as he was just about to leave, however, a hand grabbed him.

He looked around and saw the face of his mother contorted in anger before reflexively apologizing to appease her anger.

“Sorry Mother, I was just up late studying so I just wanted to sleep a bit more, I’m sorry and I’ll make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

Ren’s mother then picked up his 10-year-old body.

“I’ll make sure it doesn’t happen again, I do everything for you, Ren. I do this all because I love you!”

“It starts with just being late once and then it spirals into something worse over time. I’ll make sure that doesn’t happen however, I’ll make it so that in the future, you won’t end up like your father and leave your family for some fucking whore! ”

Ren’s mother then carried him to the room where her previous husband used to live.

She locked the door with 3 locks and left Ren alone inside. “I do it all for you! This hurts me too you know, hopefully, you never have to let me do this again”

She then left as soon as she did Ren started crying.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

Ren’s childhood wasn’t exactly envied by any child out there. His family was originally a picture-perfect one until he was around the age of 7 when his dad cheated and moved in with his new wife.

His dad didn’t even try fighting for him, he just went to enjoy his new life. Seeing this, Ren’s mother snapped and went off the deep end in more ways than one.

It was due to this that she started to be as involved as she could in Ren’s life every day. Who Ren could be friends with, his attitude towards others, his goals in life, his future career, etc.

Ren’s mom had been apprehended and he ended up living as close to a normal life as he could until he became ‘Reno’ but every so often, before he got to his new world, he would have nightmares about his mother and how she treated him.

“I just need to bear with all this for now, mom will let me out the next day and I’ll make sure I’m never late again even if it means I don’t get much sleep.”

To Ren, it felt as if time was going as slowly as it could. His stomach growled every so often and he felt his body getting more and more tired.

He felt like he was slowly dying.

Some more time went by before Ren heard the door opening. “What’s happening!?”

A woman with lavender-colored hair opened the door and rushed to hug Reno and take him into her arms.

“My baby Reno! Are you alright!? Are you hungry!? Tell your mother everything alright?”

“I need to get your father in here so that I can slap him for making you go through all this. I can’t believe he let you get kidnapped while he wasn’t looking”

Reno cried into his mother’s bosom.

The memories of the previous Ren and the new Reno seemed to be getting jumbled together, making it so that Ren and Reno could be called the same person.

Sure, Ren had old memories that he didn’t like, same with the original Reno, the only thing that he could do was to face the future and make sure to make only good ones going forward.

[Elsewhere, In a part of the Academy’s Teacher District]

Kian was pacing around as if he was deeply bothered by something.

“When will those two show up, I’ve been here for hours, even skipping some of my classes, and I’ll get my pay cut or worse if I’m here for even longer”

A few minutes passed and two figures appeared. One of them was short while the other was an average-height lady with purple hair and a scar on her face.

The most notable thing about the two was their crimson eyes.

Seeing the both of them, Kian smiled. “You two took ages! What if I’d been caught”

Egon rubbed his head back. “We had to make sure to shake off any tails that were following us, so forgive us”

Kian then shook his head and took out a slip of paper. “Here’s the info about Cassia that you wanted, it tells the dorm that she’s staying at, her classes, etc”

As soon as the purple-haired lady heard this, she quickly grabbed the paper out of Kian’s hands.

Kian didn’t even see what had happened. ‘Fast! Viscount-rank vampires are nothing to scoff at.’

To compare the ranks of vampires on a dangerous scale, they would be at rank 3 which was sufficient enough to destroy villages and certain towns with relative ease. Anyone below B- rank to a viscount-rank vampire would be fodder.

Kian then rubbed his hands. “I did my best and have given you guys the information you need to do whatever you want, I just want the one thing we agreed upon, to make me a vampire”

The purple-haired vampire nodded her head. “Egon, give him some of my blood”

Egon took out a vial that was in his pocket and threw it over to Kian. He caught it and smiled gleefully. “Thank you two for doing business, I can finally become stronger and escape this damn job as an academy instructor.”

Kian then walked away. Egon thought that his lady would do something but she didn’t, all she did was observe.

“My lady Tessa, I get why this way might be easier, but I would be able to collect the information you need in due time, why take all this risk to get it like this.”

“If the man was so quick to sell out someone that he was entrusted to look after then who knows when he’ll sell us out”

Tessa just continued smiling. “He’s a scapegoat, power-crazed idiots like that guy grab at any opportunity they get but even he knows the power the person that blood came from holds, I could easily kill him”

“Just in case, you keep an eye on him, and Cassia, so I can speed up the plans if needed.”

Her face then turned ugly. “From what I know about Cassia Arwen, she’s more talented than her monstrous uncle, taking care of her and some other human sprouts at the same time would serve the vampires well in the future”

She then touched her scar and lightly smiled. “Besides, I want to see that damn bastard Damon’s face when his beloved niece is dead, he probably didn’t expect us to find her in this backup academy so soon”

Tessa’s face had a permanent scar with led most other vampires of nobility to mock her. She got this scar from her father when he was grieving over her sister.

It was partially due to her dumbass older sister who decided to try killing Damon Arwen and instead getting brutally murdered but also due to him that she had the scar on her face.

Tessa’s face then tensed down before she patted Egon on his head. “When you finish your time at the academy, I’ll give you a reward for helping me find Cassia Arwen.”

“For now, make sure to stick to what I told you to do, the plan will commence in 2 months' time when the principal leaves to go back to earth. We and the others will have a banquet, a banquet of blood!”

Hearing his lady’s plan Egon nodded his head. Seeing this Tessa smiled. “Good!”

Tessa then disappeared along with Egon following right after.
