Chapter 27 : Meeting Of The Academy Higher Ups

The reason the principal was angry was not due to how much danger the students were in.

He was angry about how much it would affect his connections if he was to be demoted.

Most that made it into the S-rank stage of a combatant did need to have some sliver of talent but connections could be said to be just as important.

The principal of Aligning Academy only reached where he was due to having both of these.

Seeing the principal's rage, a lady in a business uniform with short black hair intervened.

“Principal Clyde, you need to calm down. I know that the situation seems dire but getting angry over it won’t change anything”

Listening to the words of his secretary, Clyde took some breaths and then proceeded to calm himself.

This wasn’t like his usual calm self.

“Don’t worry, I won’t let a few blood-sucking mosquitos ruin my life”

“Tell me, what did all the teachers find during the investigation”

Some of the teachers began looking at each other around the giant grey conference table.

Behind the seat of each of the teachers, there was a number. Like how students had rank among each other, it was the same for teachers.

The only ones excluded from this were the two S-ranks of the school, the principal and his secretary.

The person in the chair with the number 1 behind it raised their hand.

“I have something to report. It’s about the interrogation of both the surviving student, Reno Mochizuki, and also the teacher that saved him, Ryan Basil.”

The principal turned to the person and nodded.

“Go ahead, Mae”

The person in question was white-haired, amber-eyed, with a scar across her face, and was wearing what seemed to be a black military uniform.

The clothes she was wearing contrasted with what the other teachers were wearing which was almost all white.

“After the interrogation of Reno Mochizuki and Ryan Basil, we concluded that the vampire attacks didn’t seem to be part of a plan."

"The vampire in question was a teacher here who defected from the human race and also had the help of a vampire over the level of B+ rank”

“Reno stated that he was going about the practical when some students tried to assail him. He was fighting them back and then the vampire appeared to have been hiding watching them, not expecting to be discovered”

“The vampire then seemed to go after the other students before hunting him down before he got saved by Ryan”

Hearing this, the room erupted into chatter. Mae had waited until when the Principal and the other top teachers were present before disclosing this information.

This was what she went with so that the chances of it leaking were lower.

The principal’s mood got worse when he found out that it was a teacher from their academy who had defected from the human race as a whole. He along with the other teachers knew that Mae was most likely not lying.

He, along with most other teachers trusted Mae.

Not only was her work ethic good but she was also strong and had great leadership ships. She ran many clubs of the academy and was even the main overseer of the merit pathway and the student council.

Something that the principal found odd, however, was that the vampire hesitated to kill Reno first and instead tried to go after the others.

“I’ve been wondering, about the testimony about the vampire going after the other students. It feels odd, why would the person that defected go out of his way to leave him last?”

Mae shook her head. “I wish I also knew why. When the student council and I were interrogating Reno for anything such as past grudges or the sort, he kept saying that he only had good interactions with the teacher who defected.”

“We were then wondering if he was in cahoots with the vampire but a testimony from a beloved student council member of mine and some others proved otherwise.

Hearing the strongest evidence they had to go off of, the room was processing the situation.

While rubbing his head, the principal was also thinking over what he should do. “Any suggestions on how to remedy the situation before my meeting in around 2 months, it’s a very important one and I can’t miss it”

“We need to solve this problem before then”

In some seconds, some hands began going up.

The principal first chose the person sitting in seat number 5. “I say that we alert the surrounding forces while keeping the academy in a low-profile lockdown.”

“We should also let the mage teachers patrol the school in their free time to look for any vampire-related energy”

“This should be enough for now. If anything occurs then we increase our measures but if they don’t then we can assume that the vampires are gone for good.”

The principal along with most other teachers seemed to agree with this plan. “All in favor of this, raise your hand”

Around 8 people rose their hand with the principal being one of them.

“Good, who wants to spearhead this directive”

Hearing this, no one raised their hand except one person. The only hand raised was Egon.

“I’ll take care of this principal. I’ll get rid of those vampire bastards who dared to invade the academy”

Some of the other teachers’ opinions on Egon had improved.

Something like this was more work and responsibility for almost no reason but he was taking the initiative.

Ever since getting recommended into the academy, Egon and Kian had talked with Egon doing his best to help out the rest of the staff when he had the time.

Most teachers, not only the A rankers and above had a good impression of him. One person in particular did not like him at all.

Mae didn’t like Egon. She agreed that he was a helpful and social guy. Even so, her intuition always screamed to her that something about him seemed out of place.

She didn’t hate him but she did not trust him.

The principal nodded. “I’ll leave it u-”

Mae slapped the table. “Wait a second. I won’t object to him getting this job but I’ll co-run it while also getting the student council to help out. This should be better for the situation too.”

The principal agreed, that more people on the matter was by no means a bad thing.

“That sounds good to me, what about you Egon?”

Egon nodded, “That’s fine with me. We will make sure that everything gets sorted out as soon as possible so that you can leave without worry”

The principal smiled. “I leave it up to you two, Mae and Egon, in our next meeting you can present the situation. For now, the meeting on this certain issue will finish.”

The teachers then got up and bowed before leaving the room.
