They then continued past the teacher dormitories.
Along with some other stops before they reached the academy cafeteria.
Rosa was smiling. “Looks like we’re almost there, just a bit more”
Reno nodded. ‘It’s weird that everyone seems to know where I live, first Kian and now Rosa.'
'I didn’t think that the dorm that I lived in would be so well known”
Reno sighed. 'I wish I could move to somewhere else but that would be its own set of problems'
Looking around the cafeteria, Reno saw that no one was around. He found this odd.
Checking his watch, Reno realized that it was pretty late.
His focus skill had even reset meaning he was in the interrogation room for a long time.
‘It’s pretty late, that must be why but still… Weirdly, there’s no one here
When the group was about to leave the cafeteria, a table was kicked at them.
Before the table could cause any of them harm, Reno had already unsheathed his blade.
[Cut]
The table was then sliced into two halves.
The trio then looked in the direction where the table came flying from.
They saw two people that were sitting around a table.
A guy was eating what appeared to be a chocolate cake and a girl was eating a parfait.
Seeing this, both Chett and Rosa became cautious.
Chett’s hands began to glow, showing that he was a brawler. “I didn’t hear anything even though I was so cautious the entire time”
Rosa stared at the two persons. “They seem like trouble, I’ll step in if need be but hopefully I won't need to."
"A member of the student council should not be fighting students for no reason”
Reno wasn’t on guard as he knew the two people that had appeared.
“Buggi? Marlene? What are you two doing here?”
Hearing that Reno seemed to know them, Chett and Rosa stood down.
Buggi slid down his sunglasses a bit before he started talking. “We're grabbing a late-night snack, didn’t think we would also be taking out the trash though”
As soon as Buggi said this, Marlene kicked out three people from under the desk who were unconscious and tied up.
Buggi then let out a loud and hearty laugh.
“I didn’t think that someone as weak as you would be dancing with the strong so often. I wish I had that luck.”
Hearing this, everyone else in the room except Buggi thought the same thing.
‘This guy must be on the spectrum, who would want to be that unlucky’
Buggi continued. “Don’t worry, I know you must be tired after everything so I made sure to take out any bounty dumb-asses so you could rest a bit.
"Also, have you been training a lot? you better not be wasting my time, make sure you remember the bet Reno.”
Reno then spoke. “Thanks for the help and I didn’t forget the bet.”
Buggi and Marlene then got up. “Good to know, me and Marlene will be escorting these three back to their dorms in a bit."
"When you're back at your dorm, I hope you have a good night!”
The two then got up and Buggi put the three bounty hunters on his shoulder. He then started whispering something to Marlene.
The trio thought that the entire ordeal was over and as such had put their guards down.
Before they could continue, Marlene took off the spear that was on her back and charged at Reno.
She then warned Chett and Rosa. “I would advise you two not to interfere. If you do then I won’t hold back.”
Ignoring this, Chett covered his arms with energy and charged in.
Rosa thought it was better to gauge the situation as she had a hunch about who these two people were.
‘A tanned, orange-haired lady and a guy with sunglasses on.'
'Sounds like who the student council adviser told us about. If it is those two then I’ll have to observe the situation before interfering’
Buggi then stopped walking and sat on a table that was nearby.
‘One picture is worth a thousand words Reno. I don’t want to hear you spout bullshit about how you are training but it not be true.’
‘One of the things I hate the most is when others lie about their strength and how much they train.'
'Hopefully, you aren’t one of those, or else I might accept that bounty.’
[Hound’s Mystic Spear Technique: Hunter’s Thrust]
Seeing the spear tip imbued with energy in front of him.
Reno thought he would be more nervous but after going through so much bullshit in around 3 days.
He felt as if he had gotten somewhat used to these situations.
It also might have had something to do with how his memories seemed to be overlapping into one.
[Parry]
When Reno’s blade and Marlene’s spear tip collided, a sound that reverberated throughout the entire academy cafeteria was made.
Upon parrying the sword strike, Reno got pushed back a few inches.
Reno felt a bit tired but repositioned his sword and got ready to go on the offensive.
Seeing what happened, both Buggi and Rosa were surprised.
Rosa was a bit confused but had a slight smile on her face.
‘Reno was able to tank a technique with energy imbued into it with no major damage taken! Impressive!’
Buggi’s face turned into a smile.
“Interesting! Very much so!"
"I told Marlene to hold back but that strike should have at least sent him flying back much further with some injuries"
"But, not only did he tank it but it looked like he didn’t even take much damage"
Marlene then repositioned her spear before receiving a strike from Chett who had charged in to help Reno.
The two then exchanged some blows.
During the exchange, Marlene’s mind wasn’t even on Chett but was more on her previous exchange with Reno.
‘Weird… I know I was holding back a bit but even so...'
'I felt like I was thrusting my spear at a wall for a moment before it felt like how it usually did with a person.’
‘Could it be a skill? Most likely not, he didn’t use any energy so the chances of that are slim.’
‘Whatever... I’m thinking too deeply about this.'
'Buggi asked me to gauge Reno and give him a rank estimate, not a full-on combat report.'
'I also warned the two so I can’t be blamed if I hurt anyone too much’
Marlene then dodged a punch from Chett instead of blocking it like she had been doing.
After which, she used her spear to try attacking his head.
Chett dodged this strike but before he could do anything else.
Marlene swiped his feet off the ground, causing him to fall.
Before he could do anything else, Marlene charged up her right foot and kicked him back to where Reno was.
“Not bad Reno. Whatever you’re doing to either negate or disperse some of my damage without any energy is working.”
“Due to that guy not listening to my instructions, I’ll be going a bit harder. Hopefully, you two can keep up.”
Marlene then began to imbue not only her spear tip with energy this time but the entire spear.
