Chapter 34 : Trista’s Back-story (1)

Cruising on a busy street was a black Limousine with the flag of a target sign with an arrow through it.

This logo was the sign of the Ace family that was well known not only as the central hub of earth.

But also throughout many different high-ranked or low-ranked rifts.

They weren’t an original family, but most people considered them the next best thing to one.

When passing through the streets, many different cars stopped and gave way making it so that the limousine faced no hindrances in its path.

In the limousine were four people.

One was a lady who had red hair and green eyes and was wearing a black one-piece dress.

She was seated near the back of the limousine next to another lady

This lady had red hair and yellow eyes and was wearing a lavender princess gown.

Opposite the two of them was a man with black hair and yellow eyes. He was wearing a grey suit.

The man was caressing the head of the final person who was a small girl who was sound asleep.

Seeing his sleeping angel, the man’s eyes lit up.

“My princess Trista looks so adorable when she’s sleeping!"

"She must be that her core testing revealed marvelous results.”

“For someone in our family that’s specialized in training the body."

"To also have a strong vital core means that she will dominate all the other families that look down on us.”

Hearing the man, the two ladies at the opposite end smiled and nodded.

The lady who had black hair and green eyes then took something out of her pocket. It was a yellow bunny hairpin.

She then waved her hands and it appeared in Trista’s hair.

“Liam… have you thought about the deal that my sister has proposed? Trista’s 8 years old and as you blink she will reach 10 years old.”

“Unlike my sister who’s at S-rank, I’m only a C-rank mage who won’t be able to teach our daughter much.”

“We should leave Trista to her when she’s 10 years old.”

Liam agreed with his wife Nadia.

Leaving his daughter to a high-ranking mage would yield good results when it was time for her to get admitted to an academy.

“I agree but as Trista is still only 8, we should let her enjoy her youth and not rush things.”

“In the meantime, I’d love to hear about the procedures and how the training would go.”

Nadia then turned to the lady with red hair and yellow eyes, awaiting her response.

“That’s fine with me."

"This is a massive opportunity that almost any parent would jump at."

"On accord with my sister and due to my respect for the Ace household I'll delay it for now.”

“When we get a chance, I’ll explain the specifics. Is that alright with you?”

Liam nodded.

Some minutes later, the limousine was stopped in front of a large mansion.

Looking outside, Liam realized that he was back home. He then took up Trista and put her on his shoulders and got out of the limousine with Nadia following behind him.

Greeting the two of them was a man with a blindfold on along with several dozen maids.

Nadia gave her bag to one of the maids and then started walking to the doors of the mansion.

“Hubby, give her to the butler to take care of. Come visit me in my room, you rarely have some time off.”

Liam hesitated. “I’ll carry Trista to her room, I don’t get the opportunity to do so often.”

Nadia rolled her eyes but then continued walking.

Liam ushered for the butler to follow him and then began to walk to his daughter, Trista’s room.

Liam was a busy man due to the size of the Ace family.

Most days he was swamped with work and would only get time to go out for social gatherings and the type.

He didn’t have much time to spend with his daughter. His wife seemed to only like their daughter when it was convenient for her.

The reason that Nadia had even given a pin to Trista was due to trying to impress her sister.

While on the way to Trista’s room, he removed the yellow hairpin from her hair before sighing.

‘If she even tried to pay attention to our daughter she would know that Trista doesn’t like anything cute and she hates the color yellow.’

She also took up most of his free time as she would drag him everywhere while leaving Trista behind as much as possible.

The only times that Trista would join them is if he put his foot down and didn’t take no for an answer.

The short trip to Trista’s room for Liam felt like it was a short 10 seconds.

It had been much longer though as he had been walking slowly.

He then put Trista down on the brown sheets of her queen-sized bed before kissing her on her forehead.

The thing that Liam didn’t expect was that his kiss would wake up his daughter.

“Papa..?”

Hearing his daughter, Liam went in for a hug and squeezed her tightly. He knew he couldn't stay for long or else his wife would arrive and cause problems.

After letting her out of his embrace, he passed her a bar of bitter chocolate as he knew this was her favorite kind.

He then talked to the butler before leaving the room.

Seeing her dad was something that Trista rarely got to due.

So when she saw he was leaving she put down the chocolate and tried to follow him.

The butler then went to the door and stopped Trista from following her father.

“Sorry young lady but your dad has matters he needs to attend to.”

Trista still wanted to go but knowing the usual circumstances went back to her bed.

‘I wish I could spend more time with Dad.”

She then took up the chocolate and started to eat it. Her mom always got her the kind she hated so she rarely ate much chocolate.

Upon taking the first bite, she started to cry.

‘This tastes so bitter like how I feel.’

The butler thought he had gotten used to moments like this, as how they seemed to be commonplace.

Hearing the cries of the girl he had been taking care of since her birth, however, he realized that he had been lying to himself.

He knew that the thing he was trying to do would most likely cause his master's wife to be angry at him.

In that moment he made up his mind.

He decided that seeing the young lady happy was the most important thing at that moment.

“My lady, keep it a secret but on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 pm to 3:15 pm in the movie theater is usually when your father eats his lunch.”

“I’ll take you there so that you can spend more time with your dad.”

Hearing this, Trista stopped crying. “I could enjoy more time with Papa?”

The butler wiped her tears. “Yes, you can.”

Hearing this, Trista’s face turned joyful.

The butler knew that what he was doing was risky but he could not bear to see a child like Trista go through any more torment.

‘Those hours are what Madam Navia considers to be too short to spend time with her husband so she rarely goes in that time frame.’

‘If the young lady can spend even 5 more minutes with her dad then I’m sure that will be able to make her day a whole lot better.’

‘If lady Nadia finds out that I’m the one who told her about it though, then I’ll have hell to pay.’
