“This is the classroom where-”
Alice kept on explaining things to Yuri, who had at this point completely stopped paying attention.
The amount of useless information filling her head quickly overflowed.
“I see, that’s all very interesting, but I heard this Academy had its own magical research department?”
Yuri had inquired while hoping to gain a piece of actually useful information.
“That department is fairly small, but we do have one, I can show it to you if you’re interested in that?”
Smiling politely, Alice offered to show her. Yuri nodded quickly.
“It’s this way”
She guided them through the maze that was the Academy, too complex for Yuri to be able to remember the layout of with her already strained brain filled with Alice’s useless information.
“Well this is it”
The sight shocked Yuri when she entered the room for magical research. It wasn’t because the room was filled with all manner of magical items and treasures.
It was because it held none of those things. What had greeted Yuri was a small pink room, inside of which resided a furnished table upon which lay tea cups along with other tea accessories.
She was at a loss for word.
“I think we got the wrong room?”
“Oh not at all. This is the room. This is the room for researching and developing magical items. If you just look around you will find all manner of magical items”
No matter how much Yuri looked around, she couldn’t find a trace of anything even vaguel magical.
“I give up, is this some kind of joke..?”
She was about to sigh.
“What do you mean?”
sitting down in front of the table, Alice tapped the table, making a cup move towards her.
After flicking her finger at the cup, it began to fill with hot liquid. Presumably tea, which she began drinking.
“I..of course…what did I expected…”
(An Academy for maidens would only have these kind of items huh…)
“Are you sure you don’t have..say, magical swords, or even…daggers?”
Yuri sat down and copied Alice’s actions and was rewarded with a cup of hot tea, which she slowly sipped.
“Weapons..what would a young pretty maiden such as you want to do with such vulgar things?”
“I- uh, no I meant-”
Yuri’s words fumbled and stumbled when she noticed Alice’s sceptic gaze.
“Pffft” Alice giggled while covering her mouth in a polite manner.
“I wasn’t being serious, you don’t have to get that nervous”
She took out a small candy from one of the pockets of her skirts and gave to Yuri.
“Oh…of course, I was just, ahahaha…”
Laughing nervously, Yuri accepted the candy and nibbled on it in order to shut herself up.
“Well I think we should retire to our quarters, we have early classes tomorrow. Don’t worry I will come by and wake you up tomorrow, and help you prepare too, since you’re still new”
Getting up, she knocked on the table which gave off a slight glow as things began moving on it, cleaning themselves up and being put neatly away.
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
“Well then, good night Yuri, don’t stay up too late”
Alice said after she had escorted Yuri back to her room.
–
Knocking on her door awoke Yuri from her restless slumber.
She slowly got up and opened the door, through it a flustered Alice rushed in.
“I have been knocking on your door for half an hour already!”
A small bag was put down on the floor.
“This bag arrived for you today, now let’s get ready before classes start, you look like a mess!”
Yuri’s hair began to get brushed and combed, while she stood there, half asleep.
A while later, Alice had managed to get Yuri into a presentable state.
“Now do you have any accessories that you usually like to wear? Being too plainly dressed is no good”
The bag she had brought in was opened and rummaged through.
You don’t seem to have anything but your white dress is pretty, you should wear it after class”
A familiar white dress was held up by Alice.
“Ah that’s the..”
The magical item she took from the vault passed her mind.
“Well, let’s hurry since we were going to be late?”
Yuri attempted to put the dress back into the bag, in order to hide the fact that it was magical.
Upon Yuri’s touch, the dress began to glow, and to her dismay, changed shape into a small white ribbon that fastened itself on top of her head.
“Ah..this is..”
Yuri stuttered.
“So you did having something. Shape changing items are rare, but so very convenient when travelling, I should ask my father for one. It looks cute on you, so let’s go!”
Yuri was dragged out of her room.
What followed next was a day that made Yuri remember the horrors of her school days.
Long tedious lessons about things she couldn’t care less about. They consisted of things like history and mathematics, but also linguistics and manners.
After a full day of confusing things that Yuri couldn’t understand, she walked like a drunk while supported by Alice. Yuri’s eyes were spinning spirals.
“We should relax and get some tea perhaps”
Yuri was dragged towards the magical research room, i.e. the fancy tea room.
Yuri was too tired to even complain.
Inside, the room looked identical to before except this time a par of girls that looked older than Alice were already sitting down inside.
What followed next was conversations enveloped in pink aura, which Yuri neither card nor dared to join in about. She sat quietly and sipped her tea while occasionally getting complimented on looking so cute or getting her cheeks pinched by the older students.
A while later, the topic shifted to politics and the Academies finances.
(As expected of young nobles, they sure do know a lot about this stuff)
Yuri thought while chewing on a small pastry that appeared in front of her.
“-Did you hear about the bank in the city?”
“Yes, Yes, I heard it was finally taken back from the rebels, horrible bunch.”
“Not that, I heard the Relic had mysteriously disappeared…”
“Which relic, there’s so many.:”
“THE Relic, the godly relic.” The girl hushed slightly.
“What, that’s impossible. The rebels wouldn’t do that, even they know the consequences-”
“That’s the thing, there is a rumour it wasn’t the rebels. But someone else, and there’s talk of other relics disappearing..”
“You don’t think..that a fallen god has finally appeared?”
One of the girls looked worried.
“Well it’s only rumours, so don’t look so nervous”
The conversation eventually shifted to random things, while Yuri still wore a stern expression while thinking to herself.
“What’s wrong Yuri, feel sick?”
Alice put her hand against Yuri’s forehead.
“Wha, no I’m fine. I uh..just need to use the toilet.”
An excuse was made up on the spot.
“Oh I see. The bathroom is over there”
She pointed at a small door nearby.
Yuri entered the bathroom and washed her face to straighten her thoughts.
“A fallen god..i don’t like the sound of that..and Hikaru has been heaving weirdly..could it be because he had guessed that too..?”
She went back to her seat.
(I will have to ask him when I see him)
“Oh I heard that we are getting a new teacher tomorrow!”
One of the girls said.
“Hmm is that so. I hope she is good at teaching..” Alice commented casually.
“No no, it’s not a she, but a HE”
The girls smiled.
“I also heard he’s young and handsome!”
“Those rumours tend to get exaggerated, it’s probably an old man like always”
Alice shrugged.
“Awww, one can always hope!”
The girls laughed and kept talking about the rumours while occasionally going “Kyaa” or making other noises which Yuri uncomfortable.
Thus ended Yuri’s first day at the Academy.
