Chapter 2: History lesson

Yuri’s hair moved from side to side while she paced back and forth along the corridor that was filled with statues.

The nun calmly observed the short girl with some curiosity, waiting for her to calm down.

Finally stopping and giving the nun an inquisitive look, Yuri spoke in a low voice.

“Alright…fine. Even if this this too surreal to be true..I’ll accept it for now..” She sighed “And why are you smiling..?”

“Oh it was just amusing seeing you make so many different expressions when you were pacing around”

Gleefully answering with an amused expression, the nun continued to smile.

“Well…whatever I guess.” Yuri shrugged “You said this place is Edos..? I cant really accept this without more proof you know..that green thing you did before, that was magic right..? can you show me anything else..?”

Yuri was a modern person who didn’t believe in the occult or anything similar, it was simply something that existed for entertainment in literature.

“Sure~ but don’t expect anything fancy, okay? Us nuns only learn the basics of anything other than healing”

Whilst saying that, the clapped her hands together while muttering under her breath. Immediately afterwards, a ball of floating fire came into existence above her.

“Wha, what the hell!?” Yuri jumped back whilst covering her eyes.

“Hm..for you to be so surprised by a simple fire spell..you really are from a different world.” The nun nodded seriously “Well either that or you’re some farmers daughter who has never seen magic before”

The second part was said in a nonchalant manner, as she grabbed the floating mass of flames, which fit neatly into her hand. Showing it off to Yuri.

“See, it won’t harm those I don’t see as enemies, so there’s nothing to be afraid of, miss farmers daughter~”

“Stop joking around. I’m a man dammit.” Yuri snapped at the grinning nun“…or at least I was..but I’m still one at heart!”

“Oh. Sorry, I didn’t know that you were a man, your body was so burnt that the only difference we could tell was that you had shrunk a bit after you healed.” She gave Yuri an awkward smile “Hey, don’t be gloomy, at-least you’re really cute!”

The nun patted Yuri’s head with a smile. Yuri, being too tired and gloomy, did not even bother to object the nuns action. while she was patted she suddenly remembered something.

“Wait..didn’t you say that you failed to heal me..? Then how am I alive..and in this kind of body..?”

“Weeeeell. Remember I told you about something in your pocket glowing? Maybe you had some sort of healing rune that activated? Oh wait, you said your world didn’t have magic…then I don’t really know, teehee..”

The nun smiled awkwardly, while Yuri sighed.

Looking over her new clothes, Yuri discovered that her skirt had a very small pocket on the side. When she tried to take out whatever was inside, she accidentally ripped her skirt because the item was too large to fit through the pocket hole.

Finally managing to get the item out of her now ripped skirt, the nun let out a yell in surprise.

“That! Where did you get that!?”

“Hm..?”

Looking at the item she was holding. Yuri realised it was the very same ornamental knife that she had stolen before she fell off that building. Now that she was not running for her life and had a chance to observe it closely, she realised that the it was covered in many small symbols that seemed to portray the image of the of same woman the statues were depicting.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

“I think I had this with me when I was hit by lightning..?” Yuri tilted her head slightly.

“You really have no idea how valuable the item you are holding right now is, do you?”

Sighing loudly, the nun continued.

“Handling it like some common kitchen knife…kids these days..no respect at all…” She continued to mutter to herself in a low tone.

“Miss nun? Miss nun? Hey, IDIOT NUN!”

Yuri was forced to yell, before finally catching the attention of muttering nun.

“So what is this fruit knife that seems so important to you?” Yuri held the knife as if it was some sort of unknown insect.

“Show some respect will you! What you’re holding right now is the knife used by Freiya herself during the last supper of the gods!” She huffed.

“It was thought to be destroyed or stolen by one of the other gods…but for it to be in your possession who has now appeared at our humble temple, it cannot be anything other than fate!”

Whilst she rambled, the nun quickly moved some of the statues out of the way, revealing a giant painting that seemed oddly similar to the last supper by Leonardo da vinci, except instead of Jesus and his gang. It depicted a bunch of unknown people. One of whom was the supposed goddess Freiya.

Yuri had never much cared for art of any kind, but she has had to “borrow” many paintings during her (previously ‘his’) life. Some of them were worth unimaginable amounts of pennies, as such one of them happened to be the last supper supper mural, with the wall and everything (The painting version having been lost to time).

“-And here you can see Freiya using the fabled knife to cut through the apple made of breathing gold, it is told that this apple was the item that granted the gods their immortality-”

Yuri had at this point began to tune out what the nun was saying, curiously looking at the depiction of Freiya.

She appeared to be a very beautiful woman, wearing clothes similar to the ones Yuri was currently wearing. A blouse and a short skit. Those clothes fit Yuri’s now petite body well and were quite modest, which Yuri was thankful for. However when worn by a goddess with two mountains where her breasts should be, the outfit was instantly transformed into something very provocative.

The depiction of the goddess seemed to be using the very same knife Yuri now had in order to cut up the small golden coloured apple.

“So it really was just a fruit knife…” Yuri sighed wearily after the nuns bragging.

“A godly fruit knife” The nun gleefully added, before continuing to ramble about the various history of the gods.

“Alright alright, enough with the history lesson! You said you were going to tell me about the knife and my situation!”

Yuri interrupted in an annoyed tone.

“Ah, oh right!” The nun tapped her head awkwardly.

(What an airhead…)

Sighing lightly, Yuri muttered “Well?”

“Hm..so from what you tell me…you had the knife..then you were hit by lightning..and if what you say is true and you cant use magic..seems improbable that you activated the knife..so my conclusion is..that lightning channeled enough nature mana when it hit you, that the dagger had enough mana to return itself to its rightful place!” She smiled whilst nodding proudly “And accidentally bringing you with it…?”

“Alright..fine…sure. But what about my body!?” Although Yuri was from a world where science ruled and magic was naught but a fairy tale. She had still read enough books to understand the concept of magic.

“Well…I think..Freiya probably felt sorry for you, because you were dying because of the knife..? and so she healed you?” She concluded “Freiya really is a wonderful and merciful god, isn’t she?”

The nun smiled like a child filled with pride over the accomplishment of her parents.

“Riiiight..still doesn’t explain why I’m a goddamn little girl!?”

“Oh that. Freiya only likes pretty and cute things. So she probably changed your body to fit her tastes?”

Nonchalantly answering Yuri’s question, the nun attempted to get a better look at the knife Yuri was holding. Like a puppy attempting to snatch some food.

“That fucking goddess…change me back dammit!” Yuri cried out while holding out the tiny knife threateningly.

“I..don’t think that’s going to happen anytime soon. Everybody knows that Freiya is the most stubborn of all the gods, so it’s best if you start getting used to your new body and..”

Whilst the nun was saying this, Yuri’s eyes had began to tear up, as if all she strength was sapped out of her.

“Now now…It will all be fine”

Lightly hugging Yuri’s small body, she softly patted her head.

Being hugged by the nun, Yuri’s head was enveloped in a surprising softness. Filled with a comforting smell that made her unwillingly relax.

“I don’t know if I’m lucky or unlucky right now…”

“Well now..you’re probably just hungry..let’s go eat, shall we?”

The nun said when Yuri had finally started to calm down.

“After that we can find you some new clothes and maybe replace that torn skirt of yours..”

Nodding gloomily, Yuri slowly followed the nun unwillingly. What she didn’t notice was that her eyes were shining in a dangerous manner. Her breathing was slightly rough as she thought to herself, whilst leading Yuri out of the statue hall.

(This kid is so cute..I’m going to have so much fun~)
