Greeted with the sound of metal clanking against metal, Yuri awoke in panic.
Running up to the window, she saw full blown knights with dwarf like appearances clash against men that looked more traditionally human and wore leather armour rather than the plate the knights wore.
She quickly put on her dress which she bought yesterday in order to not draw attention and made sure the relic was well hidden.
Yuri ran down to the eating area of the inn and was greeted with the dull scene of people looking bored and more annoyed than frightened at having been awoken at such an hour.
Amidst the people was the guard that let Yuri into the city the day before. He was busy gulping down mead with his breakfast.
“Hey, it’s you, what’s going on here?”
She sat across the familiar dwarf-like man. Who had a full set of bed hair and a ruffled beard.
“Ah it’s you again, little girl..”
He slowly answered while sleepily chewing his food.
“I told you..there was a rebellion.” He kept chewing his soggy bacon.
“Its Yuri and I get that..but why doesn’t anyone look worried..?”
She looked over at the relaxed atmosphere of the inn despite the noise outside.
“Ah that.”
“Well, you get used to it after a while, and neither side is dangerous to civilians, they both think they have the civilians best interest in mind after all.”
He took a large swig of his mug.
“Sounds weird..mind telling me about the rebellion. Since you let me in without explaining anything its your responsibility right”
She tried to guilt trip the guard while stealing a piece of bacon from his plate.
“Hey. That’s mine!”
He sighed. “Well, whatever, basically, the rebels want to make the city more profitable through closing down the mines and blacksmithing parts, and investing into other areas. While the royal family thinks it’s best to continue the tradition of honouring their god through smithing.”
He ate his bacon before Yuri could steal it.
“Is that really worth starting a war over?”
She was never good with politics back home, and she wasn’t any better in this world.
“Well no. This feud has been going on for years now. They’ve been throwing small stones at each other for a long time. Now it developed into this. Sure is annoying..can’t even get any sleep before my next shift..”
“I see..that reminds me, I never got your name?”
She disliked the idea of someone knowing her name without her knowing theirs.
“oh, I’m Galin, nice to meet you miss..Yuri was it.”
“Anyway, about, couldn’t the royal family just use Brokkr’s relic and end the war. I heard the relics are quite powerful in their own ways.”
She attempted leading the conversation to somewhere more interesting.
“The relic huh.. I don’t think they would use the relic for something so minor, lest they anger Brokkr. Either way, they don’t have it any more. So they do it the good old fashioned way, a noisy but effective way…” He muttered out the last part.
“What do you mean they don’t have it, was it stolen..?”
She felt disappointed someone had beaten her to the prize.
“Hah! That’s quote funny! No one in their right mind would do something like that. No it was kept in the banks possession. But when the rebels took over, the took control of the area the bank was located in, so it’s technically theirs right now..?”
“I see..”
Yuri was sure this would be easy. All she had to do was join the rebels, sneak in a grab the relic. No one would suspect a thing.

“hehehe…” Laughing silently at her own plans. Galin wondered if he really should have let this young girl into the city. His senses were going off. But he dismissed it as him going senile.
–
Yuri snuck behind a few rebels who had escape the earlier battle.
She followed them until they finally arrived at a small building. They entered quickly after looking around suspiciously, which made it pretty clear this was one of their bases.
Yuri picked up a few stones and prepared them with runes, some familiar while others were new, and set off towards the small house.
She knocked lightly while trying to appear as professional as she could. Which was proving difficult as she had the body of a young girl.
The door opened, revealing a young looking kid, peering out from inside.
“A new recruit? I don’t recognise you?” He squinted at her.
“I’m not a new recruit yet, although I want to be, where do I sign up?”
“Wait, you’re not a new recruit? How the hell did you find this place then..?”
“Oh I just followed the to guys who came by earlier, they looked scary so I didn’t want to ask them”
She said, earning her a raised eyebrow from the young rebel.
“Listen miss, this is not where we take in new recruits. But since you already know about this place, I suppose I have to make sure you don’t run off and tell everything about this place, so you can come inside..I guess.”
He moved out of the doorway and gestured for Yuri to come inside.
She was led down a long staircase leading to a series of large rooms. Each room filled with a different kind of weapon sort.
She felt uncomfortable as the gazes of everyone in the room rested on her for some reason.
Soon they arrived at a small door, which the young rebel knocked on, before shortly receiving an answer from within.
“Yes come in..”
The voice inside said.
Yuri was pushed in as the young rebel made a strange salute that involved waving your hands like a bird, Making Yuri almost snicker.
“Captain, this young lady came and asked to join us, she followed a few soldiers here. What should I do?”
A man sitting behind a large desk looked up.
“Punish the soldiers for being followed by a simple girl. Do that while I see what I can do about this girl.”
The young rebel jumped when the captain met his eyes.
“Yes sir!” He nearly ran out the room.
“So…you want to join us. But what can you do to aid us. You don’t seem to be a good fighter. Depending on how you answer I can let you join or lock you up until this war is won.”
The captain said this with arrogant certainty. Looking closer she realised the man was at least over 60 years old. From his demeanour he seemed to be used to this kind of position.
“I may not be good at direct fights, but I’m sure I can incapacitate the entire room of soldiers I passed by. Is that good enough?”
Yuri confidently raised an eyebrow.
“Is that so? Well I give you permission to do so. Come back when you’re done.”
Just like that, he was back to read his documents.
“Okay..?”
She walked out into the large room where everyone’s gaze was concentrated on Yuri.
“That guy seemed suspicious, but it’s alright as long as I get what I want~”
She peeked inside the room.
It was filled with mostly younger men, sharpening their weapons or drinking while chatting.
“Should be easy..”
She picked out one of the stone with some runes drawn on it and threw it inside after activating it.
“The rune began to glow, catching curious gazes, before it it exploded into a huge mass of steam that covered the entire room.
“Mixing fire and water spells seems to have the right effect..”
She ran inside the room, hidden by her mist, and took out two other stones which she threw. They exploded into a lightning arc while making a taser noise. Easily incapacitating half of the people in the room.
“Now for the special one..”
She took out a smaller stone that she kept in her fist after activating.
It began to release a torrent of electricity that arced from Yuri’s hand.
Yuri ran around the confused mass of people and hit them with the stone, making them faint of shock.
One by one the remaining rebels fell over unconscious, while a small dark figure kept frantically running around.
The mist soon settled and revealed Yuri standing in the middle of the room while breathing heavily. Almost every inch of the floor was was covered with unconscious people, still twitching slightly.
She threw away her used stone and walked back into the captains room. She entered without knocking.
“Well? Did you get lost, go ask someone else for directions!”
She received an annoyed look from the captain.
“But i’m already done?”
She said.
“….Show me then..?”
The captain slowly stood up and revealed a large body that looked like a human sized dwarf.
She led him back and showed him the aftermath of her work.
“You’re in.”
He finally said after looking at the people still unconscious.
“Great I look forward to working with you , captain!”
She smiled while evil thoughts filled her head.
