Billionaire With Husband 277

Being the shrewd old fox he was, Jaxon could see right through Jaden. Ever since Jaden had found someone to cure Curtis and Xena had helped defuse the situation, Jaden's interest in Felix had waned significantly. However, Jaxon had his own cards to play. "Mr. Hault, there's something I forgot to mention. There's a reason behind Felix's persistent pursuit of Xena," Jaxon whispered.noveldrama

This caught Jaden's attention, though he tried to appear nonchalant. "What reason could there be? It's just a chance encounter that led to an infatuation with Xena's beauty, status, and charisma. It's only natural." Jaxon shook his head. "No, it's because Felix and Xena are betrothed."

Jaden was stunned to hear the news. His expression changed, and a cold glint flashed in his eyes. He barely contained his anger as he asked through gritted teeth, "Do you understand the gravity of what you're saying?"

He did not spell it out, but Jaxon was not dense. He replied calmly, "I wouldn't stoop so low as to fabricate lies just to get rid of someone. This is the truth. Think about it-how else would someone like Felix even have the chance to meet Xena?"

He continued, "Mr. Summers Senior arranged the engagement long ago. And Xena, being the obedient granddaughter she is... well, now that you've cured Mr. Summers Senior, anything could happen when he wakes up.

Jaden cursed inwardly, knowing the bethroral would change everything. Even if Felix was a nobody, as long as Curtis turned out to be old-fashioned, he might insist on honoring the agreement.

"Mr. Cunningham, tell me about this plan of yours. I'm all ears," Jaden said.

Satisfied with Jaden's reaction, Jaxon smirked. "Xena has two relatives in Avesburgh. After her parents disappeared, she became even closer to them. Her uncle, Perry Glover, is a wreck after his son's accident, but we can use her other uncle, Eric."

"Eric lives a quiet life in the suburbs of Avesburgh," Jaxon added. "He has a son who's obsessed with martial arts, but Eric has forbidden him from training, even threatening suicide. Not even Xena dares to interfere."

Jaden nodded, catching on. "I see where you're going with this."

Although they were on the same page, Jaxon felt the need to emphasize a point. "You can't be involved in this at all. But I'm sure someone of your status and resources can find the right people to handle this discreetly. When it's done, everything will seem to have fallen into place naturally."

That night, Felix arrived at Xena's place. She had called and invited him over for dinner. To his surprise, the housekeeper was nowhere to be seen, and Xena herself was in the kitchen, wearing an apron.

"I'm surprised you came," Xena remarked, looking less like the fierce warrior she was known to be and more like a warm, down-to-earth woman-the kind who would make a perfect wife.

"I should be the one surprised. You invited me for dinner, and you're cooking yourself?" He had come to see what Xena was up to, knowing their complicated relationship would end in a few days. After that, Xena finished cooking the last dish, took off her apron, and sat across from Felix. "Try it," she urged simply.

Felix nodded and took a bite. The taste was surprisingly good. He doubted anyone could imagine that the formidable goddess of war was also an excellent cook.

"It's delicious," he complimented earnestly.

Xena seemed pleased with his response but did not eat any food herself. Instead, she just sat there, watching him silently.
