Almost as soon as Felix finished speaking, someone rushed to Jaxon's side and informed," Mr. Cunningham! Jack has been taken by someone else."
At that moment, Jaxon finally realized that they were the fools. Felix might have looked like he was doing nothing, but in reality, everything had been meticulously planned. The five minutes he gave them were nothing more than time for them to repent. Thinking of this, Jaxon started trembling with anger and roared furiously, "Well played, Felix! The younger generation truly surpasses the older ones. But do you really think you can wipe out the Great Imperial Sect just like that?"
Felix had no intention of responding. He had given them enough time, and it was time to release the strength he had been holding back.
Just as he was about to raise his hand and signal the Earthen Hall members to begin the slaughter, Xena appeared. She stepped directly in front of Jaxon and the others.
"Mr. Cunningham! Please stop it here!" she shouted.
Jaxon was still enraged.
He pointed at her and said, "If you still see me as your mentor, get out of the way! They've stomped all over the dignity of the Great Imperial Sect, and you're still trying to uphold your idea of justice?" Xena's heart filled with bitterness as she pointed at Felix. Her voice was now much lower.
"They might not know, but how could I not? Those people behind Felix... They are members of Earthen Hall, the assassins of Dragon Alliance. Mr. Cunningham, don't you understand what that means?" What? Dragon Alliance?
The expressions of Jaxon and the others changed in an instant. None of them had imagined that Felix was associated with Dragon Alliance. They had also heard of Earthen Hall's terrifying reputation. If they targeted a person, that person wouldn't even know how they had died.
No wonder they were all wearing masks.
It was only now that Xena realized just how dire the situation was. She never expected Dragon Alliance to take Felix's side, even sending Earthen Hall assassins to back him.
While Xena didn't know the internal workings of Dragon Alliance, it puzzled her. Did Dragon Alliance offer this kind of support to every member in trouble, or was Felix a special case?noveldrama
Although the Great Imperial Sect was a respectable sect, it was nowhere near powerful enough to oppose Dragon Alliance. Now, even her title as the goddess of war couldn't calm the current tense stand-off.
"Mr. Cunningham, let me speak with Felix, will you? Or do you really want to see the Great Imperial Sect destroyed?"
Having spent some time with Felix, Xena couldn't claim to know him well, but she understood that he wasn't the type to provoke others without reason. If they acted now, there might still be a chance to salvage this situation.
As she turned to leave, Jaxon suddenly grabbed her by the shoulder and violently flung her to the other side of the arena, away from both factions. It was as if he was placing her in a neutral position.
"Felix! Is the support from Dragon Alliance the only reason for your arrogance?" Jaxon sneered. "Yes, the Great Imperial Sect may not be qualified to make enemies of Dragon Alliance, but you have crossed the line!" Felix frowned, momentarily distracted by Xena's presence. He hadn't expected her to be here, and now he hesitated, unsure if he should proceed. He wasn't even listening to Jaxon's rant.
"Today, I'll show you that the Great Imperial Sect is not so easily bullied! You attacked and killed my apprentices first. I refuse to believe that Dragon Alliance would be completely unable to be reasoned with if I went to them afterward!" With those words, Jaxon turned toward the grand hall behind him and knelt down. The deputy chiefs and the elders all did the same.
They all knew what this gesture meant-Jaxon was summoning the Supreme Elder.
A voice echoed across the hall in the next moment, "Summon the Supreme Elder!"
