Felix knew he had to go through official channels to avoid unnecessary trouble. The morgue seemed like the best option, as there might be people willing to sell deceased bodies for the right price.
Gabriel was stunned. He could not believe Felix had actually taken him seriously. "Are you making fun of me?"
Felix shook his head. "The Veilflower is extremely important to me. I wouldn't joke about this, especially concerning your ability to move freely again."
His medical skills made this possible, though it would be difficult and take considerable time. However, he was confident in his success rate.
"Get out!" Gabriel snapped, enraged despite Felix's serious expression. He grabbed another bottle of liquor from the table and started drinking.
"I'll go prepare now and come back before noon tomorrow. I promise you'll be back to normal," Felix assured him.
Gabriel's face showed nothing but contempt. He could not be bothered to say anything more. He had consulted several master healers before, and they all said it was impossible. So, it was impossible for him to believe a young man like Felix.noveldrama
As Felix stepped out of the guardhouse, he heard the sound of helicopter blades. Looking up, he saw lights blinking in the night sky as a helicopter approached. However, he did not think much of it, as it was not an unusual sight in this city.
To his surprise, Gabriel hobbled out on his crutch, his face filled with excitement as he gazed at the approaching helicopter. He urged Felix, "You should leave now!"
Felix frowned. "Why? Is the real buyer on that helicopter?"
Gabriel sighed, his tone almost fatherly. "Look, kid. I like you. You've got integrity, and you helped me out earlier. That's why I'm warning you.
"You're right. The person I'm giving the Veilflower to is on that helicopter. You have no idea who he is or the power he wields. So please, just go. I don't want to have to explain your presence."
Gabriel's words only piqued Felix's curiosity. It seemed his earlier claims were not just to scare them off. He wondered who could possibly be on that helicopter that even Xena would not dare to mess with.
"I'm not leaving," Felix insisted. "If you're so certain, then I'll buy the Veilflower from them instead."
Gabriel was shaking with anger. He had never met someone so stubborn and clueless. He
grumbled, "Fine! Stay if you want. But don't say I didn't warn you when things go south!"
By now, the helicopter had landed in the open area of the abandoned school, not far from where they stood. The whirring of the blades filled their ears.
As the cabin door opened and someone stepped out, tears welled up in Gabriel's eyes. He tossed aside his crutch and dropped to one knee, using his right arm to maintain balance.
Felix was amazed by this dramatic display. Gabriel's emotions were genuine, not forced by the newcomer's status or any kind of pressure
Suddenly, Gabriel cried out, "I, Gabriel Wade, have committed a grave sin! I'm at your service, Warlord of the East!"
