Supreme Elder? Felix remained indifferent. Soon, the sound of something cutting through the air echoed. The elder's presence preceded his arrival.
"Who dares disturb the peace of the Great Imperial Sect?" the Supreme Elder questioned.
At that point, Xena had rushed in front of Felix. She had a solemn expression.
"Felix! Just admit your fault quickly. I might be able to plead for mercy on your behalf! If the Supreme Elder hears the full story, you'll have no chance of survival!" Felix responded with a dismissive laugh.
"To be honest, don't you think it's rather ridiculous? First, you refuse to reason with me. Now, after killing me, you think you can reason with Dragon Alliance. And what do they call the Great Imperial Sect?"
Vivian, standing beside Felix, also chuckled coldly. Indeed, this situation embodied the saying that only the strong ones knew how to reason. The weak ones weren't even qualified to ask for it.
"None of that matters now! If you die, it will all be too late. I can guarantee that Dragon Alliance won't go to war with the Great Imperial Sect over a mere member like you. Do you understand?" Xena advised urgently. "A mere member?" Vivian's expression twisted in disbelief. Did Xena think Felix, the Dragon Lord, was just a member of Dragon Alliance? How absurd.
"Thanks for thinking about me, but I've already given them their chance," Felix said calmly. "Now go back to your place. If you stay, it'll only stain your reputation as the goddess of war if they call you a disgrace to the sect." Furious, Xena glared at Felix before storming off.
She thought he was being ungrateful. Fine, he could die if he wanted! She shouldn't have offered any help in the first place.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Elder materialized before the kneeling Jaxon and the others. He had already been briefed on the situation.
The old man raised his head suddenly, locking eyes with Felix from across the arena.
"Dragon Alliance? So what? A life for a life-that's the natural order of things. After I've dealt with you, I'll send a letter to Dragon Alliance's vice leader. Nothing will come of it."
With those words, the Supreme Elder stepped forward, crossing a great distance in an instant. A powerful palm strike shot through the air toward Felix.
"You deserve it!"
As expected from a Supreme Elder, his actions were swift and decisive. Not one second was wasted.
Vivian's face turned pale. Without hesitation, she shot herself forward to shield the incoming attack.
The elder's strike proved he had reached the Martial King level. Although Felix hadn't given the order, Vivian didn't hesitate and stepped forward to fight it.
At the Martial King level, a martial artist could generate Primordial Energy, which represented the peak of what one can achieve in martial arts. If they could absorb and release that energy, they would reach the level of a Martial King. Boom! Boom! Boom!
The elder's palm strike sent waves of energy tearing through the arena, and even stone slabs were sent flying in the air. An overwhelming force surged toward Felix.
Vivian stood firm, pushing her innate energy to the limit. She extended her hands and closed her eyes tightly.noveldrama
The power of a Martial King was far beyond her ability to withstand. She hadn't even developed Primordial Energy. If the attack landed on her, it would mean her death.
The members of the Great Imperial Sect had a smug look on their faces. Xena couldn't bear to watch and turned her head away. After all, they had a marriage contract in place. She had to ensure his body was intact for the burial. Else, she wouldn't be able to explain it to Curtis in case he woke from his coma one day.
She didn't know how to feel about this. She felt guilty despite knowing that she had done everything she could.
Just as Vivian braced herself for death, everything suddenly stopped. It was as if the attack had never even existed.
"Vivian."
Hearing Felix's voice, Vivian withdrew to his side. She knew that the Dragon Lord had intervened.
On the other side, the Supreme Elder's brow furrowed deeply. He was the only one who had sensed the overwhelming force that had fenced off his attack. A power far beyond his own had suppressed his strike effortlessly.
