Chapter 52

Chapter 52 Chapter 52

Thalassa let out a snort as she stared back calmly at him despite her suddenly racing heart. "Unlike what you might want to convince yourself of, I don't live my life with you in mind."

The familiar woody, spicy smell of his cologne wafted into her nostrils, trying to entice her to sniff it in, but Thalassa shoved away the stupid urge.

Kris let out a mirthless chuckle. "If that were true, then you wouldn't be targeting me and my family so much. You came to the charity function somehow already knowing that we were going to be there."

He paused. "If you knew that you were going to donate 50 million dollars anyway, then why did you let my mother win the bid for 30 million?"

"What was I supposed to do when she was trying so hard to outbid me? It was obvious just how much she loved the painting, so I just had to let her win it." Thalassa said sweetly, then shrugged. "Perhaps you should advise your mother to be a little wiser next time and not just spend her money however she likes."

"And you have enough money to waste however you like?" Kris questioned, his eyes too focused on her lips for her liking.

"Of course." she flashed him a hard smile. "Have you forgotten that I didn't work hard to get my money? I got it all from sleeping with men like a common prostitute, so it doesn't really affect me when I waste it because I know that I can always get more whenever I want." Kris's nostrils flared, realizing she was referring to the hurtful things he said to her the day he went to her office after finding out about her relationship with Zeke Mathews

"If you don't mind, my dance partner is waiting for me back on the dance floor. I can't keep him waiting for too long." Thalassa said, trying to push him away so she could leave, but he was like a rock, still firmly pressing her against the wall.

"I thought you said your lover boy Zeke was the only one man enough to hold you down. What happened, huh?" he asked, his voice filled with mockery. "He's no longer man enough now that you've seen Clark Morgan again? Is he going to be your new catch?" Thalassa stared at him, daring him. "Why, Kris? Don't tell me you're jealous."

"Jealous?" Kris stiffened at the same time he let out a scoff "I could never be jealous of any man because of you."

Thalassa gritted her teeth. He looked so damn sure of himself as he spoke, and she wanted to prove him wrong. To put a dent in his confidence.

"Are you really sure about what you're saying?" she moved her head forward slightly, close enough that their lips were barely touching, feeling his body stiffen even more. "Then why are your eyes so bright with desire right now?"

"They're not." He gritted out.

Thalassa opened her mouth slightly, allowing her tongue to fall out and sweep over her parted lips. Satisfaction welled up inside her when his eyes followed the movement of her tongue, heat flickering through them.

"See?" She whispered in a sultry voice, "You want me. You couldn't keep your eyes off of Clark and me on the dance floor because you were wishing that it was you against me instead of him. You miss having me in your arms, don't you? You miss the smell of my skin. You miss the taste of my lips. Deny it."

Her eyes dared him to deny it, Kris's body vibrated with reckless frustration. He wanted to do just that, to deny all of her bold, taunting claims, but the words just wouldn't come out.

"I hate you," he growled instead.

A low laugh rumbled out of her throat. "Oh, Kris, if you hate me so much, then why is your dick so hard?"noveldrama

Kris's agitation grew as he realized that she was right. His dick was so hard that it could probably cut carrots. Staring into her eyes, he saw the mockery in them. She was enjoying this. "You devil," he hissed, and without thinking twice, his head swooped down, his lips crashing onto hers.
