Matthew immediately sat up and looked at Renae in shock.
"What are you doing?" He was thinking about something and had been taken by surprise.
Renae's hand jerked back as if she'd touched something hot. Blushing, she stuttered, "I didn't mean to touch it."
When confronted, her desire to take things to the next step vanished in an instant. As a woman, her modesty and restraint held her back from expressing her feelings.
However, as she explained herself, Renae's face turned beet red. Even her ears and her neck had a hint of red. She started breathing heavily with her chest heaving up and down.
Matthew sat there, staring at Reane who was just inches away. Her cheeks were flushed, and her lips were captivating. As she breathed heavily, her chest moved with each breath she took. He couldn't help but swallow nervously as he blurted out, "I thought you wanted that."
Halfway through his sentence, Matthew knew he'd said something wrong and hurriedly mumbled his way out of it. Feeling a bit flustered, he felt awkward just sitting there, so he got up.
Renae hadn't been intimate with a man for many years. Matthew's words were so direct that she felt her heart skip a beat when she heard them. At the same time, she couldn't help but feel shy as a woman. She couldn't help herself and pouted playfully. "You're so annoying."
Upon hearing that, Matthew took it as Renae's rejection. Feeling let down, he stood up and glanced at her rounded bottom. He couldn't help but sigh.noveldrama
"What a shame." With that, he started walking out of the room.
Renae was taken aback. Things had gotten playful, and the mood was right. Why did Matthew suddenly leave? Wasn't there a spark for them to get down to business?
Seeing that Renae was still standing there when he opened the door, Matthew asked, "You're not leaving?"
In a daze, she replied, "Yeah. I'm coming."
Renae felt dejected. Was she not pretty enough, or not seductive enough? What went wrong?
Matthew walked for a bit, and Trevor came running from a distance. "I've taken care of things over there already."
How was Trevor so quick? Matthew felt like he got the right person for the job. They were super efficient and had the right background for tasks like cleaning up the scene and handling the bodies. The key was showing their credentials. No one would raise any question after that.
Matthew grinned and said, "Great work out there. Thanks."
Standing upright, Trevor reluctantly remarked, "You went a little overboard. You shouldn't have killed the old man and the woman."
Matthew sighed in agreement. "I regret it as well."
After hearing Matthew's words,
Trevor felt he should still talk about it. "I know I'm not in a position to comment or criticize you, but think it's always good to show some mercy when you can."
Trevor noticed Carmelo had a sunken chest and Hailey had a bloody head with a chair leg sticking out of it. The sight was gruesome even for him.
He'd seen his share of blood and
been on missions, but he only dealt with soldiers and terrorists. Most of them were young men. The way Haley and Carmelo died was too much for him to handle.
Matthew glanced at Trevor and coldly remarked, "It'd have been better if I could find more information about their accomplices before killing them."
After saying his piece, Matthew made his way to the elevator.
Trevor froze in place, thinking
Matthew was regretting killing Haley
and Carmelo. It took him by surprise
that Matthew was merely upset about not getting information on
their associates.

It turned out that Matthew didn't have a shred of remorse for killing Haley and Carmelo.
Seeing Matthew walk away, the passion in Trevor's eyes dimmed, and he muttered with disappointment, "I guess the wearer of Juprus Ring isn't as great as I imagined."
...
A car pulled over at the entrance of Onyx Village.
As Renae stepped out of the car, a woman nearby shouted at her, "Don't go home just yet, Dr. Brown! Swing by someone else's place and hang out for a few hours before heading back." Renae was stunned for a moment before realizing the situation. "Are you saying someone's at my place?"
The woman nodded. "Many people showed up, and they're all high profile. Even the village chief is fawning over them."
Matthew knitted his brows together. That explained why so many cars had pulled over and were blocking the road.
