Matthew noticed Rachel was upset. "Hey, what's wrong? Who got on your nerves? Was it Lorraine?" Rachel turned her head. "You were supposed to show up after I picked up Lorraine. What happened?" Matthew finally realized Rachel was mad at him. "Sorry. I ran into some trouble."
Rachel coldly snorted. "Is there anything more important than Lorraine and I?" After saying that, Rachel went quiet.
This was the first time Rachel was mad at Matthew. She was acting like a girlfriend, and Matthew wasn't used to it.
"I had to deal with some important stuff. Everything's been sorted out with the Clark family, so there shouldn't be any trouble now. As a gesture of apology, Sara volunteered to be my chauffeur."
Did Sara actually become Matthew's chauffeur? How was that possible? Rachel was in disbelief. "You're not messing with me, right? Sara is so full of herself that she doesn't even respect me. For her, being a chauffeur is worse than death."
Matthew flashed a smile. "I'm being serious, or I wouldn't have been late. By the way, you might want to start a new research institute on telomere and longevity with traditional medicine."
Rachel immediately understood what Matthew was planning. "You're not honestly thinking about coming up with a magical drug for immortality, are you?"
Matthew wasn't sure how to explain it. The situation was a little complicated, and there were things he couldn't talk about.
"The Clark family made some progress. That shows it can work."
Rachel shook her head. "A lot of discoveries are happening all the time. I keep an eye on them, including the telomere you talked about.noveldrama
"According to the researchers, if telomeres could keep working indefinitely, it might allow us to live forever.
"Also, there's a technology involving exoskeletons For example, if you
lose your arm, you can get a prosthetic that responds to your brain's signals. It'll move like your real hand. Similarly, if we have a plane controlled by our thoughts, we can fly and land it just by thinking about it.
"Scientists also speculate that one day everything can be controlled by our brain waves. We could control everything with just a thought. Then, there's the interface that connects the brain to a computer, where your mind can exchange information with a computer through connection.
"If we manage to invent such a device, we can upload information into our brain. Imagine inputting a dozen books into a bain and mastering everything from elementary school to college in one day. "However, what if we transfer the memories of someone who's dying into a younger person's brain? Would that be some kind of reincarnation? You know, like the transmigration concept in fantasy novels. "Let's not forget about artificial intelligence. If computers can self-learn and we have ten thousand Als learning on their own, what could we find out?
"They might achieve in just one year what takes humans thousands of years to achieve. What if we upload the knowledge into a human brain? Is that person still a human, or does he become Al?
"There is countless technological
research. Are we going to invest in everything? Wealthwave Group is still a small company and doesn't have the capacity for those kinds of ventures. We can't be too greedy, or wet blow through our funds in no time."
Upon hearing that, Matthew was left dumbfounded. He felt like serving three years in prison had disconnected him from the world.
Even though Matthew hadn't thought it over, he was eager to participate in the research of telomere. After all, it involved traditional medicine.
"I still believe it's worth pursuing. If you're not interested, I'll just work on it myself."
"You need a lot of money, possibly over tens of millions. These kinds of experiments are a money pit. Hundreds of millions or even billions can just vanish without results. You don't have the money. Just give up."
How? Rachel was shocked.
