Sandra stomped her foot and jabbed her finger at Felix's nose. She snapped, "Have some dignity, you filthy junk collector! You scammed me of my medical book. If you don't give it back, you're going to regret it!
"You call this a business? What a joke! Get out! Everyone get out! If he doesn't return my medical book today, no one's selling anything here."
Felix was livid as he clenched his teeth. He balled his hands into fists, and his eyes were blazing with ire. Clearly, he was at his breaking point.
Nevertheless, Sandra continued insulting Felix without holding back. "You better give me back my book, or your family will end up suffering a terrible fate. Sooner or later, your dad's going to get run over by a car, and your mom's going to take a nasty spill-" Felix suddenly roared and hurled his fist at Sandra's cheek. The latter was seeing stars as she stumbled back a few steps.
When Sandra was about to say something again, Felix charged forward and beat her to the ground.
Donna tried to intervene, but she got knocked to the ground pretty quickly too. Ultimately, both Sandra and Donna ended up on the ground.
Felix lost it and began laying into them. "Dammit! I paid for the book and got it right then and there. No refunds!
"I dare you to curse at my parents again. Keep it up, and I'm going to beat the crap out of you."
Felix was so furious that the veins on his forehead were popping. He was spitting everywhere as he chewed them out. He looked like he was about to rip someone apart.
Upon seeing this, Sandra freaked out and scrambled to her feet to back away. Meanwhile, Donna panicked and rushed to the entrance. She could tell Felix had lost it and didn't want to stick around.
Realizing Donna had fled, Sandra made a beeline for the exit out of fear.
The old people selling stuff at the junkyard quickly moved out of the way, terrified that they might get caught up in the mess.
Felix chased Sandra and Donna to the entrance. When he saw they had gotten a good distance away, he finally turned back, clenching his fists.
Noticing that Matthew was still around, he asked, "Why are you still here?"
Matthew cleared his throat. "I'm not leaving until I get my hands on the medical book."
Felix glanced at the rusted steel pipe nearby and shifted his gaze back to Matthew. "I bought it, so there's no way I'm giving it back."
Matthew nodded. He understood that Sandra and Felix had engaged in a proper deal and fully acknowledged it. However, he still needed to get the medical book.
"I'd like to buy the book back. How much do you want from it?"noveldrama
Felix was surprised. He finally came across someone who spoke sensibly. "Are you seriously going to buy it? How much do you offer?"
Matthew didn't jump the gun. "Now that the book is with you, you're the seller. How much are you looking at? Just name your price."
Felix mulled it over and replied, "One million dollars. Just so you know don't think that I'm asking for a fot. Even though I am the boss of a junkyard, I've managed to buy two houses in Lambda City.
"I've dealt with large transactions before. The reason I'm asking for so much is because someone's already offered 600 thousand dollars. If you give me an extra 400 thousand
dollars, I'll sell it to you right away."
Matthew could tell Felix was genuine about doing business with him. "Sure thing. Grab me the book, and I'll buy it."
Felix nodded and started heading inside, but then he came back out and stated, "You need to pay up first. I don't want to risk it."
Matthew pulled out his phone. He asked for Felix's account number and transferred one million dollars to Felix. After receiving the payment notification on his phone, Felix zipped back into the house.
The sun was blazing during the afternoon. A few old men selling scraps stood under the tree, watching silently from afar.
Standing in the yard, Matthew
waited for Felix to return with the
book. After waiting two minutes with no sign of him, he started to frown. If it weren't for the noises inside, he'd be convinced that Felix had taken the money and run away.
Another minute had passed, and Matthew was about to go inside to check things out when Felix came running out. "Apologies. The book has gone missing. Give me a moment. I need to call my wife."
Matthew nodded, but he had a bad feeling about it.
As soon as the call connected, Felix hurriedly asked, "Where's the book I put away yesterday, honey? Did you see it?"
A woman's voice came from the phone. "Someone already picked it up this morning."
Felix's expression shifted drastically. "Was it Mr. Carpenter? How much did he pay?"
"Yes, it was Mr. Carpenter. He paid the 600 thousand dollars we agreed on. Are you waiting it out to make him pay more?"
Felix stayed quiet for a moment. After hanging up, he sighed and explained to Matthew, "Mr. Carpenter has already bought it. I'll refund your money."
Matthew was thrown for a loop when unexpected things still happened. "Can you get the book back? It's really important to me."
Felix looked pretty bummed out. "I'd like to get it back as well. You'd be giving me 400 thousand dollars more than him. Doesn't that extra money sound good?
"But I can't run my business like that. He paid for it and left with it. I can't be unreasonable like you all and just demand it back."
