Chapter 408

Renae glanced around the room, and her face fell. She assumed there'd only be one or two people showing up for the deal, but she was shocked to see over ten hulking men.

As a doctor, she could tell a first glance that these people were robust and in far better shape than Ted and his thugs had been. She finally realized why Matthew didn't want her to tag along. When the old man called out to her, Renae subconsciously took a step back.

Carmelo Durbin saw the fear in Reane's eyes and the panic on her lovely face. Her delicate look and voluptuous figure somehow got his heart racing with excitement.

"Relax. I'm not going to bite. Come over here, and let's talk about the medical literature."

Matthew took a step forward and blocked Carmelo's line of sight. "If you're here for the medical literature, you talk to me."

Carmelo shifted his gaze to Matthew. "Where is it then?"

Matthew raised an eyebrow. "Where's the money?"

Carmelo glanced at the person behind him. The latter placed a suitcase on the floor and opened it up, revealing stacks of cash inside.

"Give me the medical literature, and here's your payment. The money is enough for you to live quite comfortably."

Matthew's expression turned frosty. "This is just two million dollars. We agreed on 200 million dollars. This is nowhere near enough."

Carmelo shook his head. Despite his old age, he exuded a dangerous and chilly air. "You're in no position to bargain with me. Take what I offer, or you'll end up with nothing if you annoy me."

Matthew looked at Carmelo with a chill in his eyes. "Are you planning to take my medical literature by force?"

Carmelo crossed his arms. "Why would I bother paying when I can just grab the book by force without breaking a sweat? Hand over the medical literature."

Matthew clenched his fists, ready to make a move. But with Renae behind him, he stayed put. "No chance I'm having it over."

A chilling glint flashed in Carmelo's old eyes. He turned to the young man bringing out the money earlier and said, "The real owner of the medical literature is that woman. This man is just a nuisance. Get rid of him."

The young man came forward,

staring at Matthew like he was as good as dead. "Just so you know, the man ending your life is Rohan Durbin I came from Kaiser Sect of the warrior division. Our founder is Darren Kaiser."

Matthew fixed a chilly gaze on Rohan and said nothing.

Upon hearing Rohan's words, Renae felt her heart skip a beat. She had no idea what Kaiser Sect was, but it sure sounded intimidating. Renae instinctively clutched the hem of her clothes as she nervously stared at Matthew's back.

Rohan saw that Matthew just stood there silently, as if he was scared out of his wits. A hint of disdain crossed Rohan face.

"I can't believe after 15 years of training in Kaiser Sect, the first persond'd have to kill is a piece of trash like you. It's an insult to my honor as a martial artist. Damn it!

Just die already!"

As Rohan spoke, he closed the distance to Matthew and drew his arm back before throwing a punch. The sound of bone snapping filled the room.

Rohan's punch had been interrupted halfway, hanging in the air. He held his throat, gasping in pain.

His face turned blue from the lack of oxygen. Then, he collapsed on the floor and twitched a few times before lying motionless.

Carmelo's wrinkled face was filled with horror. He fixed his gaze on Renae the entire time and didn't see what had done down when his skilled fighter dropped dead.

His expression contorted in anger. "Turns out you can handle yourself. I really didn't see that coming."

With that, Carmelo motioned with his hand, and a burly man beside him stepped out into view.

The man was in his 30s. His muscles were strong and well-defined, whereas his fists packed quite a punch. His face bore a few scars, making it clear that he was a seasoned martial artist.

He stepped out with a wary look. With his fits tightly balled, he inched closer bit by bit. "Rohan let his guard down in his first fight, but I won't-"

Before he could finish speaking, Matthew suddenly threw a punch. The sound of bone breaking rang out.

The man held his throat with his mouth agape, desperately trying to take a breath. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't get any air into his lungs.

With his hand on his throat, he struggled painfully for a while, then his body collapsed heavily to the floor.noveldrama
