Matthew went over it thoroughly and was taken aback. Afflictan Sect was quite something. The 13 Phantom Needles had been so out of the ordinary that even if a doctor had been briefed on the technique, they would still struggle to find the right acupuncture points. Luckily, Matthew had learned over one hundred secret acupuncture points. After checking out the Golden Wisdom Pen, Matthew looked up at Renae.
"You've seen this already, right?"
Renae contemplated telling Matthew the truth. She figured he'd doubt her even if she claimed she hadn't seen it. So, she came clean and said, "I've looked at it."
After admitting it, she felt a pang of anxiety. She was worried that Matthew would be upset about it.noveldrama
However, Matthew just nodded. "Since you've seen it, I won't make you go through it again. Remember the acupuncture technique and keep it to yourself."
She breathed a sigh of relief and was glad that Matthew wasn't vocal about it. Thinking about the rules of passing down the legacy, she asked, "Does keeping it a secret mean only sharing it with my future son and not my future daughter?"
"Mmhm," Renae responded.
If Renae handed down the legacy to her future son, it'd stay within the family. Passing it to her future daughter meant the acupuncture technique would be leaked outside the family when her daughter married. That was why she had to ask. Matthew shook his head. "Keeping it secret means it's only for our own people. As long as the person is a relative, it doesn't matter if you teach it to your son or daughter."
Renae took a deep breath. "Oh. So that's how it is. This is better. You stay here with the coffee, and I'll go get the food. Let's eat."
Four minutes later, the dishes were laid out on the dining table, including beef broth, egg salad, fried oysters, and spinach quiche. Looking at the dishes, Matthew furrowed his brows. Renae said with enthusiasm, "Quit staring. Let's eat."
Trevor grabbed his cutlery. "Let's dig in."
As he spoke, Trevor started putting the food on his plate. As he ate, he raised his thumb and praised how delicious the food was. "Hey, this is really tasty! It's better than what I can get in a restaurant."
Renae replied with a smile, "If you enjoy it, feel free to have more."
After saying that, Renae turned to Matthew. "You should eat your vegetables."
Looking troubled, Matthew picked up his cutlery and started grabbing some salad.
When Matthew was done with the meal, he stood up and said, "Let's go to your parent's place and grab the medical literature."
Things always happened when Matthew had to collect medical literature. He wanted to get them as soon as possible to avoid any trouble.
However, Renae shook her head.
"The medical literature is with Mom.
She went traveling with a group two days ago. Even if we go to my parents' place now, we won't be able to find it. Let's wait until she gets back."
Matthew frowned. "Can't you give her a call?"
Renae flashed a bitter smile. "Yes, I can call her. But if even she tells me where the book is, I still can't retrieve it." Matthew couldn't figure out why. Why was it so hard to get something from her parents' place? It was such a simple task.
"Why so?"
Renae seemed to recall a bad experience and dejectedly responded, "My sister-in-law doesn't want me to come home. We end up fighting every time I do. "She complains that I'm a married woman who keeps eyeing the family's wealth. Don't worry. Mom will be back in three days. The time will fly by."
"That can't be helped," Matthew
remarked in resignation. He
understood there was nothing he
could do about it. "I'll get going first. Talk to you again in three days."
After finishing his sentence, Matthew turned to leave, and Trevor followed suit as well.
Renae watching Matthew leave. She wanted to say something but bit her tongue How could Matthew just leave like this? All those foods with libido-boosting effects were wasted.
A car drove out of the village.
