Matthew mulled it over and had to admit Felix was right. It was improper to sell things and then try to buy them back.
The problem was that Sandra's nasty remarks had really annoyed Felix. Getting a fair bit of criticism back was only to be expected.
Despite everything, Matthew had to get the medical literature back, so he had no choice but to keep pushing for it.
"You'd rather lose hundreds of thousands of dollars than go after the buyer. That's the right thing to do. I truly respect that."
Felix was ready for Matthew to snap, so he was a bit surprised. He gave Matthew a once-over as if he now saw Matthew in a new light.
After taking a good look at him, Felix seemed less bothered. "I get that you're trying to get on my good side by saying that, but just give it up. I'm not going to do that. I've got business to do, so just leave." Felix already ran out of patience and started kicking Matthew out.
Thinking about the possibility of Scholarly Tradition falling into the Eastorians' hands, Matthew became restless. He approached Felix in an even humbler manner.
"I know you're trying to get me to leave. Honestly, I care about my pride. But today, I've got to swallow my pride and tell you a bit more on the matter. After I've said my piece, feel free to get mad or lay into me." Felix hesitated to make Matthew leave. "Speak your mind then. I'm all ears."
After taking a deep breath, Matthew firmly stated, "We're talking about medical literature. It's an invaluable piece from a sect in traditional medicine. You can even put a price on its value, so-"
Felix interjected. "Stop going on about how precious it is. You're just spouting nonsense. Traditional medicine is fading, and its books are pretty much worthless. Look at these. I have tons of traditional medicine books just sitting here. "Don't forget that this is a junkyard. The books are treated like trash. Don't you feel ashamed when you call it valuable?"
As Felix spoke, he gestured toward the massive stack of medical books not far away, making sure Matthew would see it.
The truth was laid bare in front of his eyes. He wouldn't trust anything Matthew said.
Matthew shook his head. "I don't find anything I said ridiculous. That particular book is really priceless. Traditional medicine is on the decline, and those books are seen as junk. That's the reality.
"But just because traditional medicine might be unpopular doesn't mean it's useless. Have you ever wondered why someone's offering such a high price for the medical book?"
What was the reason? Felix knitted his brows together. He was struggling to wrap his head around why anyone would spend so much on a medical book.
Since Matthew threw him the question, Felix thought about it and replied, "Maybe it's because traditional medicine might disappear completely, so those medical books are becoming valuable relics." Matthew uncrossed his arms. "You're mistaken here. It's not about the book becoming a relic, but rather its value. Scholarly Tradition is worth a lot more than you realize.
"Eastorians have been stealing our traditional medicine for a while. When they brought the knowledge home, they renamed it as Willoris medicine.
"Still, they only picked up the basics, so they've been aggressively collecting medical books to perfect their Willoris medicine. They'll stop at nothing to get those books." Eastorians? Felix frowned. "Is that really true? I haven't heard anything like that."noveldrama
Matthew pointed at the entrance of the yard. "The woman who came with me just now is Renae. The
Eastorians killed her husband justet
get the medical book, but they couldn't find it. I'm certain that the person who bought your medical book was doing it for the
Eastorians."
Felix was visibly shocked. "Are you for real? How could that be? It was purchased by someone working in a publisher."
Publisher? Matthew was overjoyed
when he finally got a clue. "You'll
know if I'm telling the truth when we
get there. Honestly, it's not really your problem. Just coming along to help me buy back the medical book is enough.
"I'll make sure you're well compensated. Just tell me how much you want, and it's yours. All I need is for you to lead me to get the book."
Felix's expression went from calm to
furious. He suddenly raised his voice
and angrily shouted, "How is it none of my problem? My
Ine
great-grandfather had five brothers, and four of them were killed by Eastorians.
"Before my great-grandfather died, his last word was about killing eight Eastorians to take his revenge, if he had the chance. Anything to do with Eastorians is my business! "Fuck them! They aren't going to steal the techniques in our traditional medicine. That's not going to happen."
Matthew fixed his gaze on Felix in surprise. He'd come across many educated people, influential figures, and wealthy folks, but all of them worked for Eastorians.
Who would have thought the owner of a junkyard had a serious vendetta against Eastorians?
"If that's the case, hurry up and take me to the publisher. If we're late, they might have moved the medical literature elsewhere."
Felix hurried to his car. "Let's go. I'll drive. Get in my car."
Seeing how pumped Felix was, Matthew called Trevor over and got into Felix's car to leave the junkyard. Felix was quite worked up. He floored the gas and talked nonstop. "We can't let the Eastorians take that book."
