Chapter 410

Noticing Matthew had no room left to back away, Carmelo's eyes grew more menacing. He yelled, "Go to hell!"

Carmelo accelerated his footsteps once more. Matthew was moving back quickly when he suddenly leaned back as if he was about to slam his head into the wall behind him.

Right when his head was about 24 inches away from the wall, Matthew quickly extended both hands and pushed against the well. He kept his balance with his left foot on the ground and raised his right knee. Carmelo gaped in shock as he swung his blade above Matthew, missing the mark completely.

The worst part was that Carmelo was moving so fast that his chest slammed right into Matthew's knee. He tried to stop, but he couldn't.

The sound of his rib breaking rang out. Matthew's knee sank deep into Carmelo's chest.

Carmelo seemed to have lost all his strength as he dropped to the floor. Blood started seeping out of his chest. He clenched his teeth and stared at Matthew, his eyes wide open.

"How can this be? I've mastered Eastorian techniques in persuasion and assassination, honing them to perfection. I put everything I had for the surprise attack. How did you manage to get away?"

Matthew glanced at his knee, noticing his pants were smeared in blood. He then looked at Carmelo, who was lying on the ground and barely alive.

"Sneak attacks are nothing but a joke against true power. Your persuasion and assassination techniques are laughable. Don't think too highly of yourself."

What caught Matthew off guard about Carmelo was his ability to tap into his potential. It seemed like some kind of secret technique.

But Matthew didn't bother asking. Some techniques were limited to a specific type of cultivator. The others simply couldn't use them. Tears streamed down from Carmelo's aging eyes. "I've mastered the secret technique, so I'm supposed to return home in triumph..." His voice grew softer and softer until it was barely a whisper. His frail body twitched a few times and then went completely still.

Matthew felt a tinge of regret. He

had wanted to ask about Red Wolves and gather information about Eastoria. Rescuing Nelson had always been in his mind What a pity that Carmelo was dead

Suddenly, Matthew recalled there was still a survivor and turned to look at Haley. She was scared out of her wits and retreated a few steps after meeting his stare. She frantically pleaded, "I'm begging you. Please don't kill me."

Sporting a grim expression, he closed in on Haley. "Tell me about Red Wolves, and I might let you live."

Red Wolves? Haley looked confused.

"What's that? I've never heard of it, and I certainly don't know what it is. I was studying abroad in Eastoria, and someone in the foreign trade business sponsored me. After

came back, he made me do att kinds of things. I was forced into it."

Damn, she didn't know about Red Wolves. Matthew looked somewhat dispirited. "Fine then. Just tell me who this old man is."noveldrama

Based on observation, Carmelo

seemed like & part of an influential family or a faction. Matthew wanted to learn more about what they were capable of and figure out why they were here. With how things had escalated, it was unlikely they were only after medical literature.

Haley shook her head. "He contacted me through Ethan. I'm just as clueless about him. I only know he is a big deal and is part of a community club." Matthew coldly snapped, "You simply don't know anything."

After leaving this remark, Matthew remained silent and slowly made his way toward Haley.

Haley's face turned pale with fear as she backed away, begging for mercy. "Please spare my life. How about you just spank me instead? Please don't kill me. Just smack my butt." Matthew raised an eyebrow. Why did she ask for a spanking? For some reason, he found himself glancing at her rear. It did look quite perky.

Matthew coldly scolded, "Do you think I'm just fooling around with you? Why did you ask me to spank you? Should I use a chair for that?" As Matthew spoke, he grabbed a nearby chair and headed toward Haley.
