Chapter 446

Upon seeing how frightened Sandra was, Renae's face contorted even though she remained silent.

Just then, Matthew bent over to pick up the medical literature and dusted the covers. He was quite distressed seeing this treasure of his getting thrown on the floor.

He had initially planned on narrating how multiple people died because of the book to scare her, but who knew that she would snatch the book away first? Nevertheless, she fell victim to fear all the same. Matthew decided to scare her even more and reached out to pass the Scholarly Tradition to her.

"I thought you wanted this book. Why'd you let it slip from your hands? Here. Hold it tight and don't drop it again."

Sandra was terrified. "I don't want it. I don't want the medical literature. You can have it! I don't want it anymore. This book has nothing to do with me!"

Then, Matthew kept the book in his inner pocket with much care. All of a sudden, he roared in anger, "I warned you, but you kept insisting on sealing your own fate! Get lost, you idiot!"

Matthew's eyes were filled with rage, and his expression twisted in anger. His voice was thundering with fury as he bellowed, and Sandra was so scared that she staggered backward. She was truly afraid and didn't dare meet with Matthew's eyes.

Afterward, a group of burly men marched in. Each of them wore a sharp and piercing gaze, and they carried a chilling air of destruction.

With more than ten of them gathering together, they created an imposing and formidable presence.

Sandra panicked upon seeing the men walking in their direction. She then pointed at Matthew and yelled, "The medical literature is in his hands! It has nothing to do with me since he's holding onto it. "Take it from him if you want! It has nothing to do with me."

The group of burly men marched in neat rows of line and halted in their tracks as soon as they arrived in front of Matthew. Then, all of them saluted and yelled in unison, "Salute!"

The sight of this particular scene made Sandra dumbfounded. Weren't they here to murder Matthew and steal the medical literature from him? Why were they saluting to him instead? Just who was Matthew? Matthew scanned the group of men vigilantly. He could tell that they were all soldiers because they possessed the same demeanor Trevor had. However, he didn't know what their intentions were. "Who are you?" Matthew asked.

If it was the Wood family that had sent them, they would be here to kill him. But if it was Brad who sent them... It seemed a little too abrupt.

Even Trevor, who was by his side, hadn't mentioned anything of the sort, so the intentions of these people seemed pretty suspicious.

Just then, the leader of the group stepped forward. "Mr. Grant, I am Dominic Larkin, and I am here under Mr. Miles' orders to protect you and keep you safe."

To protect him? Matthew frowned and asked, "What do you mean?"

Dominic replied, "I heard that someone sent more than 100 people after you, and the situation's 100 times more dangerous than we expected."

More than 100 people? Matthew

narrowed his eyes sharply. It was the Wood family! He didn't have to give much thought to be sure that it was the Wood family who wanted to

kill him.

The Wood family had surely gone insane. How could they have mobilized more than 100 people just to deal with a personal grudge?

It was no wonder Brad was using an outsider like him. The Wood family had broken, the rules and used a soldier to murder a civilian and their comrade. If they were to wage a war, wouldn't they be even more

unscrupulous?

When Sandra heard that there were more than 100 people coming after Matthew's life, she stumbled backward in shock.

Deep down, she was relieved that she had thrown the medical literature away. Sandra couldn't bear to stay even a second longer and turned to leave.

After she took a few steps, she thought of Renae and yelled, "Renae, what are you doing? Let's go!"

There was a bitter expression that Renae displayed when she heard Sandra's voice. "Didn't you hand me over to Matthew? You even said that I didn't need to return home forever!" Renae's voice trembled, and she carried a hint of resentment in her tone. It was hard for anyone to hear her speak that way, and Sandra froze.noveldrama

She seemed to have said that when she took the medical literature from Matthew's hands, but now that the medical literature was gone and had fallen back into Matthew's hands, Sandra scolded, "Can't you use your brain and think?

"There are hundreds of people after his life, and it's no different from dying if you stay here with him!"

Upon hearing that, Renae let out a bitter smile that contained hints of sadness. There were tears streaming down her face as well.

Then, she spoke with a trembling voice. "I'd rather die with him than to get sold off by you for the second time!"
