A morning to remember

The next morning, she tried to wake up earlier than Eizan. He still woke up earlier and was busy cooking breakfast by the time she got out of bed. She frustratedly thought “How early does he wake up?” Little did she know, Eizan had watched as she set her alarm and adjusted his to wake him up earlier. He giggled a little, when he heard her get out of bed. She wandered into the kitchen still in her yellow pajamas she brought with her. Eizan was busily cooking all kinds of different things. He was simultaneously making breakfast and lunches for them. He hadn’t turned around yet but he could hear her footsteps getting closer. “Good morning, did you sleep well?”

She frowned. “Do you have the hearing of a dog?”

Eizan burst out laughing. “No, for some reason every short girl stomps, through the world like an elephant.”

She stomped on the ground, basically proving his point. “I don’t stomp.”

Eizan finally turned his head and smiled. “Would you like breakfast now or after you get ready?”

She smiled. “I’ll have breakfast now.”

Eizan smiled brightly. “Go wait in the other room. It will be ready in just a minute.”

She grumbled to herself as she left the kitchen “I can’t believe he beat me awake again. I wanted to get ready before he made breakfast.” She looked back towards the kitchen suspiciously. “Did he notice what time I set my alarm before bed?”

She sat down and turned on the Tv to watch the morning news. A few minutes later Eizan entered the room and set a stack of pancakes in front of her. She looked at them and thought. “He went through the trouble of making pancakes?” She looked over at him. “You don’t have to go through the trouble of making me breakfast every morning.”

He smiled. “It’s no trouble.”

She took a bite of the pancake and thought. “These are so good.” She turned and looked at him. He was eating pancakes and staring at the Tv. “He really is something else. Why does he insist on making me breakfast?”

He looked at her and smiled. “Are they to your liking?”

She nodded. “They really are delicious. Thank you.”

She started to eat again. She had a mouth full of pancakes when he finally said something. “You know it’s easier to make breakfast, if you don’t try to wake up before me.” She looked like a startled chipmunk. Eizan couldn’t help but giggle.

She swallowed her pancakes and gave him a stern look. “So, you did intentionally wake up before me?”

Eizan nodded. “It’s common curtesy to serve guests meals. I don’t intend to let you cook breakfast for a whole month.”

She frowned. “How can I show you my cooking skills if you won’t let me cook?”

Eizan poked her in the forehead. “I already know you lack basic cooking skills.”

She grumbled. “I can make a few things.”

Eizan got a surprised look on his face. “Really?”

She puffed out her chest. “I can make eggs and toast.”

Eizan stifled his laughter. “I see.”

She hit him in his leg. “Don’t make fun of me.”

He smiled softly, still trying to hold back his laughter. “I’m not making fun of you. You just looked so proud of your toast making skills.”

She hit him again. “From now on you have to let me help make breakfast.”

Eizan sighed and gently rubbed the top of her head. “Ok, I will let you help. I don’t really mind. I usually make lunch at the same time. You can watch for a few days to learn the process and I will teach you along the way.”

She was blushing from his hand rubbing the top of her head. “Also, could you let me get ready first?”

Eizan smiled. “Can I ask why?”

She blushed even harder. “No woman want’s to be seen looking, like a mess, first thing in the morning.”

Eizan smiled. “And here I thought it was cute.” She looked up at him with a pouty look on her face. His hear skipped a beat. “Damnit, that’s just not fair.” He sighed. “Alright, you can get ready first.”

She smiled brightly. “Thank you.”

He took a sip of his coffee. “You don’t have to worry about such things, you know.” She gave him a curious look. “I like doing things for others. It makes me feel good watching you eat my cooking. Also, most boys find it quite alluring having a cute girl wake up with messy hair, in their bed.”

Her face turned red. “Pervert.”

He laughed. He leaned in a little closer. “You’re a little more defenseless first thing in the morning. It’s cute.”

Her eyes widened. “He really is a wolf. It’s like I’m a rabbit and he’s chasing me.” She looked down and quietly mumbled to herself under her breath. “Wolf.”

He smiled. “I have been called that before.”

She looked up at him in astonishment. “You even have the hearing of a wolf.”

He burst out laughing. She hit him again.

They ate breakfast and she went to get ready. Eizan sat there for a minute lost in thought. “It’s getting really hard to control myself. She’s so cute in the morning. For some reason it makes me want to pursue her even more. Maybe I am a wolf.” He giggled to himself.

She was standing in the bathroom looking at herself in the mirror thinking to herself. “He’s so aggressive first thing in the morning. I need to get back at him somehow.” She thought for a few seconds. She blushed. “It’s a little embarrassing but…” An evil smile came across her face. She walked out of the bathroom a few seconds later. She bound up to him innocently. “Are you ready to go?” The look on his face was priceless. She giggled to herself. “That worked better than I thought it would. It makes me want to mess with him more. And he calls me defenseless.”

Eizan with a stupid look on his face “U-um, S-sure let’s go.” She normally wore stockings and today she had decided to go with bare legs. Eizan found the change quite mesmerizing. She tilted her head to the side. “Is something the matter?” His eyes went wide and he shook his head in an idiotic way. “N-no I-I’m, ok.” She squatted down in front of him making direct eye contact. “Are you sure, you look a little feverish?” She put a hand on his forehead. His heart skipped a beat. “This girl is a demon. She’s doing this on purpose, I know it.” He shook his head again. “I-I’m fine let’s go.” He hurriedly stood up and grabbed his school bag. Stealing glances at her as he grabbed his phone and keys.

Right as he was about to grab the door handle. She grabbed his sleeve. She was fidgeting “Um, do you notice anything different about me today.” His mind went blank. “Damnit, what is she trying to do to me.” She looked up at him with those sparkling blue eyes. He scratched his cheek “Y-you’re not wearing stockings.”

She got a shy look on her face and was fidgeting with her hands clasped down in front of her waste. “Does it look good on me?”

It was like a bomb went off in his mind. “I… uhm, think it suits you. You look very cute today.” She smiled and blushed shyly. He thought to himself. “If you’re going to get all shy about it don’t do it in the first place.” He sighed. “If anything, you might look a little too good. I don’t know if I want other guys to see you like this.”

Her eye’s shot wide open. “Y-you don’t want other guys looking at me?” Eizan scratched his cheek and turned his head away. She looked down and in a soft voice. “But it’s hot today, it would be a lot more comfortable if I didn’t wear stockings. Can I not go to school like this? All the other girls do.”

His mind went black again. “He smacked both his cheeks.” She had a shocked look on her face. “It’s fine let’s go.” He grabbed her hand and walked her out of the apartment. They walked hand in hand for a while before they let go out of embarrassment.

Watching from the apartment building across the street. A blonde-haired American woman dressed in a business skirt suit was staring at the couple leaving Eizan’s apartment. “Is the boss sure they’re not dating yet? The way that girl is blushing and they’re holding hands. Something must have happened for things to be moving along at this pace.” Her job is to keep an eye on Eizan without him noticing. She has been watching the progress in their relationship from the very beginning. Her name is Alicia Morgan, she is a spy for Carter and one of his secretaries. “It seems like they are far enough away now.” She left her apartment with a briefcase in her hand, following about half a block away from the couple. She thought to herself. “This job is exhausting. Who would have thought a Harvard graduate would be reduced to babysitting duty. At least the pay is good.”

Mio and Eizan are walking to school chatting like normal. Mio looks over at him with a worried look on her face. “Uhm, there seems to be a strange woman following us.”

Eizan smiled. “Don’t worry about her she’s one of my grandfather’s spies.” She gave him a funny look. “Actually, I’m surprised you noticed so quickly. It took me a couple of weeks to notice her.”

She had weird look on her face. “He has someone follow you everywhere you go?”

Eizan smiled. “Yeah, since I was little. I noticed the first one when I was nine. There have been five different ones that I have noticed since then. She’s starting to get a little sloppy. I think that’s why you noticed her so quickly. In about a block there will be a man sitting at a coffee shop reading a paper in a brown suit. He’s been following me for 3 years now.” They walked past the coffee shop and just like he said sitting there reading a paper was a man in a brown suit drinking coffee.

She frowned. “Doesn’t that get a little annoying?”

Eizan laughed. “I can make them go away if you would like? Every time I point one out, they will disappear. I only do that to the ones that are really annoying thought. The blonde and the coffee shop guy don’t really bother me.”

She gave him another weird look. “It sounds like your used to it.”

Eizan laughed. “Yeah, I’m used to it. Besides I understand the logic behind it.”

She tilted her head. “The logic behind it?”

Eizan smiled. “My grandfather is incredibly wealthy. I am sure he has enemies. He does this to protect the family. While I am sure very few people know of my existence, if people became aware of me, there could be problems.”

She nodded. “That does make sense. I understand why you try to keep a low profile now.”

Eizan laughed. “I’m not very good at it.”

She laughed. “I would agree with that.”

They closed in on the school gates. They had been garnering stares from fellow students for a few blocks now. Eizan grumbled. “This is why I said walking together wasn’t the best choice.”

She looked around at the crowd of people looking their way and nodded. “You might have been right about that.” She looked over at him and smiled. “Let’s just ignore them. Besides look over there. Those two seem to be getting even more attention than we are.” She pointed over to Ren who was talking to a nervous looking Ome.

Eizan giggled. “Did they already start dating?”

Mio giggled. “Who knows, I’ll ask her about it when I get the chance.”

Ren turned, smiled, and waved as they were approaching. She yelled. “Mio, Eizan over here.”

Eizan sighed. “She is sure in a good mood this morning. I thought she would still be depressed.”

Mio sighed. “She’s good at hiding her true feelings.”

A soon as they got close Ren looked Mio up and down. She smiled. “It sure is hot today isn’t it.” Mio froze and Ren started giggling.

Mio replied. “Ren don’t tease me.”

Ren ran over and grabbed her arm. “Let’s go.” She began to drag her away. Mio had an exasperated look on her face as she was being dragged away. Ome and Eizan looked at each other and laughed.

Eizan smiled mischievously. “How does it feel to talk with the second-best looking girl in school first thing in the morning.”

Ome frowned. “She’s definitely the first best and it’s frankly a little exhausting.” Ome looked at all of the students looking over at them. “Can they just stop staring already. She’s already scurried off somewhere else.”

Eizan laughed. “So how did last night go? You walked her all the way home, right?”

Ome smiled. “We just walked and talked. Nothing really happened. We’re not constantly flirting like you two.”

Eizan frowned. “I don’t ever recall flirting with her in front of you.”

Ome laughed. “God, I would hate to see what you call flirting then. Watching you two last night was so sweet, I had a stomach ache. That’s half of what we talked about when I walked Ren home.”

Eizan scratched his cheek in embarrassment. “I’m sure you will be worse, in a few weeks.”

Ome tilted his head curiously. “What do you mean by that?”

Eizan laughed. “I wonder.” He started to walk towards the classroom, not answering him in the slightest.
