Early the next morning Mio and Eizan were sitting at the table eating breakfast when the door bell rang. Eizan stood up and walked towards the door to check the monitor. Standing there looking at the elevator camera Eizan could see Kagami standing there. He turned to look at Mio. “Your mother is here.”
Mio tilted her head. “That’s weird I wonder why?”
Eizan got a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach. “Damnit, I have work today. I hope this doesn’t take too long.” He pressed the button on the intercom. “Come on up.”
A few seconds later Mio and Kagami were hugging at the entrance to the apartment. “Mother why are you here so early in the morning?”
Kagami smiled coldly. “I wanted to have a talk with you two about something.”
Mio shivered. She had seen this look before. She started to wonder what she had done wrong. “Please take a seat mother. Would you like some coffee?”
Kagami replied with a yes and Mio went to the kitchen to poor her a cup of coffee while Eizan led her to the table to take a seat. Eizan smiled at Kagami he could tell she was unhappy about something. “So, what have we done wrong?” Mio about spilled the coffee she was pouring as Eizan asked his question.
Kagami stared at the handsome young man in front of her. “Well, aren’t you perceptive.”
Eizan smiled. “I have been told that from time to time.”
Kagami brought out her phone and brought up a video. “Would you like to explain yourself?”
Eizan was staring at the video of Mio and him standing on stage in Kyoto. “Sure. I used to play in a band when I lived with my parents. I never got to play a farewell show before I left. We ran into one of my old band members while we were at the park. I got the idea to play one last show before I officially retired.”
Kagami frowned. “You two sure are dressed how do I put it.”
Eizan laughed. “Like delinquents.”
Kagami sighed. “Yeah, something like that.”
Eizan shook his head. “If you’re going to a place like that it is best to blend in to avoid trouble.”
Kagami raised an eyebrow. “So, you two don’t dress like this when were not around?”
Eizen giggled. “I think you would have noticed if your daughter dressed like that. Besides, I’m the one who made her dress like that. She was actually a little miffed.”
Mio approached the table and put coffee in front of her mother. “That is not something I would normally do.”
Kagami smiled at her naïve daughter. “I’m not worried about what you normally do. I know my daughter very well.” Kagami turned her gaze back to Eizan.
“You’re more worried about me dragging her into dangerous things.”
Kagami sighed. “You are very perceptive.”
Eizan smiled softly. “I’m happy to know you worry about Mio’s safety so much. But… I would never knowingly put her into a dangerous situation. I actually only brought her along because it was the safest venue I used to play. I’m very good friends with the bouncer.”
Kagami smiled. “I see.” She paused for a few seconds to gather her thoughts. “I would still prefer if you two didn’t frequent those types of establishments.”
Eizan nodded. “I promise to keep things like this to a minimum. Plus, I don’t plan to be going to any nightclubs in the near future.” He gave her a mischievous smile. “I did retire from the drums after all.”
Kagami sighed and looked at Mio. “You know if your father finds out about this you may be in big trouble.”
Mio nodded. “Yeah, I can see him being angry.”

Eizan smiled innocently at Kagami. “May I inquire who sent you the video? I intentionally dress like that to hide my identity and I don’t think we were famous enough to have videos widespread around Japan.”
Kagami coughed, she could tell his innocent demeanor and question were not so innocent. “Actually… I don’t know who it’s from.”
Eizan tiled his head in confusion. “Did it come from someone you don’t know?”
Kagami nodded. “It came from an unknown number.”
Eizan frowned. “This seems like someone is trying to interfere in our relationship.” He smiled at Mio. “Doesn’t it?”
Mio froze for a few seconds lost in thought. “Now that you mention it.”
Kagami was staring at the pair of high school students. “Hmm, now that I think about it. It is quite strange.”
Eizan looked out the window towards the balcony. “I wonder who it was this time. If I had to guess…” He didn’t finish his sentence.
Mio looked at him curiously. “Who do you think it is?”
Eizan laughed. “Who do you think would have your mother’s phone number?”
Mio sighed and got a big frown on her face. “Towa.”
Eisan patted her on the head. “That’s why I like you. You’re smart.”
She puffed out her cheeks and hit him in the arm. “You know how patronizing that sounds coming from you.”
Eizan burst out laughing. “I still stand by my words. Would you rather I said you were cute?”
Mio’s face turned red. “Eizan… My mother is here.”
Kagami was grinning at the cute couple in front of her. “My, my, haven’t you to gotten close.”
Eizan laughed. “I would like to think we are.” He stood up from the table and walked to the sink to put away his coffee cup. “While I would love to sit here and continue our conversation I must leave for work.” He walked over to Mio and planted a kiss on her cheek. “See you later honey.” Mio blushed.
Mio stuttered. “H-h-have a good day at work.”
Kagami giggled at Eizan’s obvious teasing. “I’m glad we got time to have our little talk. Have a good day.” Eizan walked over and grabbed a small bag off the couch and left the apartment. Kagami looked over at her daughter who was still blushing. Kagami rested her chin on her hand and grinned at her daughter. “So, things are going well.”
Mio looked around nervously. “Yeah, I would say they are.”
“Have you decided to make your engagement official?”
Mio nodded. “We wanted to wait until the month was over to tell you, but yes I would say it’s official now.”
“Are you happy?”
Mio smiled at her mother. “Yes.”
Kagami sat up straighter and eyed her daughter up and down. “That’s good to hear. Are you planning to move back after the month is over?”
Mio shook her head. “I’ve actually found a good part time job and was thinking about just staying here.”
Kagami could see the serious expression on her daughter’s face. “Where will you be working?”
Mio shrugged. “Eizan’s grandfather called and offered me a job last night. I told him I would call him in the morning with my answer. I think it might be a good opportunity for me and the pay is rather good.”
Kagami seemed lost in thought. She knew her daughter may never move back home but she was starting to regret letting her move out. “Honestly, I don’t know how I feel about this.”
Mio smiled. “Is there anything I can do to convince you?”
Kagami laughed. “You could stop going to concerts late at night in shady looking clubs.”
Mio stiffened. “I would like to state for the record that it wasn’t my idea.”
Kagami smiled. “But you still went along with it.”
Mio smiled back. “I just wanted to know a little more about my future husband.”
“That is admirable. But I want you to refrain from doing dangerous things. If you can do that, I might be able to convince your father.”
“Thank you, mother.”
Kagami shook her head. “No, I haven’t totally agreed yet. I need some time to think on the matter.”
Mio sighed. “I see.”
“Just start your job and we will se how things go for now.”
Mio nodded.
The two girls started to chat about other things and were soon laughing and having a good conversation. Just outside the apartment building though Eizan was staring at Jotaro who had just pulled up in a blue sedan. “Get in I’ll give you a ride to work.”
Eizan sighed. “I do like to walk.”
Jotaro shook his head. “Did I phrase it like a question?”
Eizan shrugged. “I guess not.” Eizan proceeded to get into the car. “Do you know where I work?”
Jotaro laughed. “I know pretty much everything about you. Well, accept that you like to drag my daughter to late night concerts.”
Eizan was about to buckle his seatbelt and stopped. “On second thought walking doesn’t sound too bad.”
Jotaro commanded. “Sit.”
Eizan sighed. “How do I get myself into these kinds of situations.” He then thought of the cute brunette with glasses currently sitting in his apartment drinking coffee with her mother. “Yup, she definitely causes me problems.” Jotaro started the car and started to drive.
