Levi smiled. "Because once we sign the contract, you're mine."
My jaw dropped when I finally was told exactly what happened while I was asleep. Apparently, Levi and his fiancé broke up and Mother Terra told me that there would soon be a contract for me and Levi to sign stating that we were in a relationship. Once I composed myself I stared at Mother Terra in disbelief.
I mean Levi's hot don't get me wrong on that and I did have a crush on him and still kind of do but because of the boundaries that I set up for myself, I swore I'd never go for it. But when Levi and I start our relationship all the boundaries that I set up for myself will be gone. That thought alone was nerve racking!
One would think that I could just refuse to sign the contract but that wouldn't work because knowing the Elders they would find some way to enforce it regardless if it was signed or not. So it's best for me to sign the contract.
Then there's the issue with the abilities that I just developed. It's clear to me by the way that I'm sneezing at the moment, I've developed fire and ice powers. But there's one more ability that I've developed that I can feel it but I'm not quite sure what it is.
I think Mother Terra might've sensed it too because her eyes went wide and she looked over at Levi. "Um, Levi, would you mind stepping out for a moment so I can talk to Eve about something?"
Levi nodded and left the room. When Levi left I started sneezing again and every other sneeze was a fireball and every other sneeze was a ball of ice. Mother Terra grabbed my nose again and pinched it. "Breathe through your mouth…"
I did as I was told and calmed down.
"Now, I know what you're thinking and yes there is another ability growing within you and it's called Demon Power…" Mother Terra said.
I paused. "Demon Power?"
She nodded. "Yes, it's actually a rare ability. Only fourteen Agents have it and that includes you. This ability increases every ability you already have by three! However, this ability can be rather dangerous if it's not under control. Along with it being able to increase your power, you can cause destruction wherever you go and a lot of times it's by accident. And by destruction I mean small earthquakes that can level skyscrapers!
"Your eyes will turn red every time you get mad now and that's not something you'll be able to control regardless of how well you have other parts of this ability under control. You can also use this ability to control someone's body like a puppet. Unfortunately, until this ability is under control you'll have a thirst for blood and you don't have to kill people in order to get it. Animal blood usually does the trick.
"Honestly, I'm not surprised you developed this ability because your father had the same power. I'll talk to the Elders about getting you a contentment necklace to help you control your abilities but I'm not sure about telling them about your Demon Powers just yet. Because I don't trust them to abide by the contract you and Levi will sign after they find out about it."
My eyes went wide at that statement. "You really think the Elders would try and force my hand if they found out about my new abilities?"
"Just the Demon Power ability," Mother Terra said. "Everything else they probably wouldn't care about. But you are a prodigy after all. I'll work on getting the containment necklace at least to help control your fire and ice abilities. I'm not sure if it'll control your Demon Power. It is a rare ability after all…"
"So what do I do in the meantime?" I asked.
She sighed, "Just work on being calm and when your fire and ice abilities act up just pinch your nose and breathe through your mouth. As far as being calm goes, maybe you should try meditation or ask your new fiancé for sex?"
I blinked. "Say what now? Levi's my fiancé now? But he didn't even propose yet."
"Oh he is your fiancé and it wouldn't matter if he proposed or not. But when you think about it he kind of did propose when he asked to be with you," Mother Terra said.
"Yeah but-" I paused and then shook my head. "Nevermind… No use arguing about it now."
She smirked. "You know sometimes you're a little bit too obedient for your own good." She stood up from her chair. "Anyway, I'll tell Levi what he needs to get you from the store and he's to be a bit baffled about the animal blood. Actually, animal blood with liver and onions isn't a bad idea for a meal for you. Although Levi might start thinking that you're a Vampire."
I snorted. "I might as well be because I'm already a mutant thanks to the government. And if the Elders had their way I'd already be a state of the arch walking and talking killing machine."
Mother Terra chuckled, "You and your sense of humor. Alright then I'm going to help make a list of what you need for the moment and then I'll be back with that necklace. Until then, behave yourself."
I rolled my eyes. "Oh sure I'll behave myself and try not to cause earthquakes because I'm angry."
She chuckled again and shook her head. "Well I shall take my leave now."
With that, she left the room.

I raised an eyebrow after I looked over the list of groceries again. One of the items on the list was animal blood.
"Okay, is this a joke?" I asked.
Ms. Terra smirked. "I wish I could say it was but no, it's not. It's something that will need as part of her diet. I recommend that in order for her to get used to it might want to try cooking it with liver and onions."
I gagged. "Poor Evelyn."
She chuckled. "I figured you might have that reaction. And don't worry a lot will be explained after you sign the contract. No, Eve isn't a Vampire. But at least try and work on keeping her calm for the moment. Knowing her she's going to be a bit restless and wanting to leave the house. Who knows maybe having sex might be a good idea. She is your fiancé now."
The idea that Evelyn is my new fiancé delighted me. But even so I did want to get to know her better regardless if we're spouses on paper. I wanted the relationship to be as real as possible. Of course, I know she won't be used to being the center of attention and she will be when people start to recognize that she's my wife so I figured I won't make her presence known until she's ready for it.
I nodded. "I'll consider sex but only if Evelyn wants it. I already decided I wasn't going to be the type of husband that forces my wife to do something she doesn't want to do."
She shrugged. "Alright then that's up to you guys. I'm leaving now. Call me if anything happens with Eve. I'll be back with the contract."
I nodded again and smiled as I watched her walk away. I was smiling because I couldn't wait to sign the contract with Evelyn. Evelyn is going to be mine and I'm never letting her go.

I tried following Eve after I followed her to the restaurant that I saw her go in. But after that I tried meeting her at her job and she wasn't too happy with me. No matter how many times she rejects me, I'm going to keep trying to prove to her that she should be with me. Then a bombshell dropped on me from out of nowhere. I found out that Eve was getting married.
I didn't realize that I had competition but then again, it's not really a competition if I've already lost. But I wondered if just maybe if I could find out where the wedding is going to be I can crash it and keep it from happening, just maybe…
The last place that I tracked Eve to was a mansion! The mansion looked a lot like the ones that one might see on Tv where celebrities live. The mansion looked very familiar. It looked like the mansion that the billionaire Mr. Levi Harriman owns. When I checked my sources I was correct about who owned it.
I couldn't believe that Eve managed to catch the eye of a billionaire. But then again, she is pretty hot.
However, I couldn't get close to the location because of the security guards so I just sat in my car a couple of blocks down from the mansion. I was eating take out when I saw someone knock on my window.
I rolled my window down and saw a young woman dressed in black clothes. She was wearing a black t-shirt and black jeans, she had light brown hair and blue eyes. Her hair was tied back in a ponytail and she looked at me and smiled. "Well it looks like Blade was right! You were right where he said you'd be!"
I paused. "Huh?"
"Oh, where are my manors?" The woman laughed. "My name's Riley and I work for a group called the Rebellion! Blade has uncovered a lot of different information about who Evelyn Reid is. I say you'll be interested in the information and when you see what I'm talking about you'll want Evelyn even more."
I raised an eyebrow. "Okay? The Rebellion? What's that all about?"
Riley shook her head. "Nope. I can't tell you. Only Blade can and you'll find out if you come with me to see him."
Warning bells went off in my head. Part of me was saying that this was a trap and the other part of me wanted to know more about Eve.
"Oh I get it, you want me to work for some mysterious person in order for me to get Eve to go out with me?" I said.
Riley nodded. "That's it."
"Okay what's the catch?" I asked.
Riley snorted. "Wow, you're a smart one aren't ya? But yes there is a catch but I can't tell you what it is. That's Blade's job."
I hesitated.
Riley nodded. "Blade figured that you'd be a little hesitant, but trust me if you want Evelyn then what he is offering is your best bet."
I thought about it for a moment and then nodded. "Alright then, get in and tell me where we're going."
She smiled. "Excellent!"
She got in the car and told me where to go. Where we went looked like a rundown bar in a rough side of town. When we got out of the car she told me to wait until she got permission to enter the rundown bar first. She knocked on the front door. "Who is it?"
"Diego! It's me!" Riley said in a sing-song voice.
"Uh-huh, prove it!" Diego said.
Riley rolled her eyes. "Do you remember what you did at Harley's birthday party this year after you got drunk?"
"What did I do?" Diego asked.
"You danced around in your underwear and then you went-" Riley started.
Diego cut her off, "Okay, okay no need to air out my dirty laundry in front of whoever you have with you. Come on in!"
The door opened to reveal a young man who looked like he was about the same age as Riley and he also had light brown hair and blue eyes.
Diego smiled at me and held out his hand. "Hey there, I'm Diego. Nice to meet you!"
I shook his hand and said, "My name is Jeremy. It's nice to meet you too."
Diego grinned and looked at Riley. "Is this the guy the Boss wants?"
Riley nodded. "Oh yeah, it's him." She turned to me. "Follow me."
I followed her to the back of the bar to what looked like a small living room with a couch and on the wall in front of it had a flat screen Tv on it. It also had a pool table to the right of the couch. The place was dimly lit but I could make out two people playing a game of pool.
One of the men looked a little bit like Eve. He had black hair and black eyes and he was also wearing all black clothes just like Riley and Diego wore. His sharp jawline and a birthmark on his right ear made him look like the male version of Eve.
Eve also has a birthmark on her right ear in the very same spot that this guy had it on.
The other man who was playing pool looked like an average guy who had tan skin and black hair and black eyes. He was also wearing all black clothing.
I guess all black clothing is the dress code around here. I thought.
As soon as the guy who looked like Eve saw me he smiled. "Ah, you must be Jeremy! Hold on, just a second let me make the winning play first and I'll be right with you."
While Riley and Diego snickered I just stood there and raised an eyebrow. Sure enough, the guy made a play that won. I don't really know much about pool but I could judge by the look on the other guy's face that he wasn't happy. To me that look meant that he lost the game.
The guy who made the winning play did a victory dance and I had to bite my tongue to keep myself from laughing. "I win! You get to do laundry for the whole month!"
The guy who was the loser whined, "Aww man! This sucks!"
The winner snorted. "You're the one who made the bet thinking you could beat me at a game of pool!"
"Fine," The loser grumbled.
The winner turned his attention to me. "Ah yes I said before you must be Jeremy! The two-timing double life living ex-boyfriend of my daughter's from boyfriend's past!" He came up to me and held out his hand. "I'm Blade and Eve is my daughter."
I stood there gaping at him. He did look like the male version of Eve but with different eye color.
Blade rolled his eyes. "Oh come man, don't leave me hanging! That's rude!"
I snapped out of my shock and shook his hand. "Yeah I got a divorce so I'm single now. I was trying to get a divorce before Eve found out about my now ex-wife and kid."
Blade nodded. "That's too bad really. Come on sit down and let's have a little chat shall we?"
He made his way over to the couch and sat down. I followed suit and sat down next to him. He gave me a wicked smile. "Well, I can see why Eve would fall for you. You're very charming and from what I've heard you're just her type. Tall, dark and handsome, well minus the dark part since you're about as white as snow! Although I doubt she'd fall for you again. Considering she's getting married very soon."
I nodded. "Yeah I know."
"But hey, don't look so grim! I have a way to fix that," Blade said.
I tilted my head. "You're going to stop the wedding?"
He snorted. "Nope! Even better, I'm going to let the wedding happen and in one month I'm pretty sure Eve's new husband will have all of his finances in her name in case he dies and then I'll kidnap both of them. And that's where you come in."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Since you've been stalking Eve, you'll be able to know where she is at all times if that's possible. You will help me kidnap her and her husband. Once I kill her husband, she'll be yours," Blade said. "And I'll have my daughter back. It's a shame I had to leave her behind when I left my post as an Agent. But that's a story for another day."
"And if I refuse?" I asked.
"Oh I'm sure you want your son to live long enough to go to college and start a family of his own right?" Blade said with a sinister smile on his face.
I don't know why but I was taken aback that he would only threaten my son's life and not my ex-wife. "Why didn't you threaten my ex-wife's life and only threaten my son's life?"
Blade smirked. "I figured you could care less if your ex-wife had a bullet in her head. But your son? Oh yeah you definitely want him to stay alive am I right?"
I sighed, "Yes you're right."
"Good. So what do you say, are you in or do I have to end your son and you?" Blade questioned.
Of course he would kill me if I refused his offer. Go figure! I thought.
When I hesitated, Blade hissed, "Come on now, make up your mind! We don't have all day!"
I decided right then and there that I wanted to live and I wanted my son to live so I answered, "Yes I'll do it."
Blade clapped his hands. "Excellent! Now, it's time to draw up a contract for the new recruit!"
I blinked. "Huh?"
"Did you think that I would just let you waltz out of here thinking you could backstab me because we just did a handshake?" He said. He shook his head. "Oh no, while I understand being a man of your word is admirable, that doesn't work for me. Contracts are everything where I come from and with good reason."
He snapped his fingers and Riley came up to him with a very small stack of papers. After I looked over the contract, Blade told me which papers to sign and which papers not to sign. He also signed the papers after I signed them.
Once the contract was signed Blade told me to go home and wait for his orders. When I got home I couldn't help but be excited about the idea of being able to be with Eve again.
