Chapter 17: The Very Valuable Agent

Chapter 17: The Very Valuable Agent

{Ms. Terra}

Ever since Eve started training with Trainer Michael he's been pushing her really hard. He said to me that he's trying to make her angry. He didn't say how angry but it seems that whatever he's trying to do it's not working. I find this rather amusing considering that Eve can be a stubborn woman when she wants to be.

I'm to assume that he told her the tale of how the cults got started. She really seems to think it's funny. She's told me that a couple of times before. When I first heard the tale I thought it hilarious too. But now that I think about it, it almost seems plausible. I mean come on, modern medicine giving you the ability to transform into an animal? Or giving you the ability to control the elements? It would kind of make sense that some sort of magic might be involved I guess.

Two days after Eve started training with Trainer Michael I got a call from HQ of the compound for Purple Flowers Inc. Purple Flowers Inc is a legit business that advertises selling different flowers. The business is so innocent but behind closed doors once you go to the back of the building that's supposed to be the warehouse is actually the HQ of all of the different government cults that have been founded.

It would remind you of a movie set depicting the CIA HQ. Once you go towards the hallway it leads into the room a big globe is stationed there and that serves as an identification area. When a person goes up to that point in the area they have to press their hand to a holographic screen and that indicates whether or not they have access to the area.

Once I gained access to the area I reported to my Boss who is General Basket. When I first met the guy I thought his name was fucking hilarious and I couldn't stop laughing at it. But I learned the hard way not to laugh at his name when he called me out on that behavior in front of everyone in the room. I must say that wasn't my brightest moment.

I greeted General Basket and he took me to another room that had to have at least twenty different huge Tv screens that went from the right side of the room to the left side of it. Each Tv screen had at least two people manning them for different reasons. Those reasons are reasons that I'm not privy to. That's fine by me. I already have enough problems to worry about.

"General Basket," I said.

General Basket nodded. "Mother Terra, I have information that the Elders have cleared me to give to in regards to Prodigy Evelyn. Let's just say Prodigy Evelyn is a very, VERY valuable Agent/Soldier at this time. Even more valuable than the Elders at the moment."

"Exactly why is that?" I asked.

"At the moment the short answer is that she needs to save the world," General Basket said.

I wanted to laugh at that. How can one person save the world? There's more than one cult set up for a reason. But I knew better than to laugh in his presence. Mostly because I didn't feel like being humiliated at the moment.

"So what's the long story?" I asked.

General Basket sighed, "Several things…" He paused and then shouted, "ATTTEEEENTION!"

At that moment everyone in the room paused. "Alright then, computers 3 and 4, show section 35 and 34 now!"

"Right!" The soldiers sitting at those computers did exactly what they were told to.

What popped up one of the screens were what looked like a group of tents and on the other screen showed what looked like a rundown bar in the middle of nowhere.

“These are at least two factions that we know of that are gearing up to try and go up against us,” General Basket said. “One of them is being led by your ex-husband and ex-Agent Blade.”

I grit my teeth at that. I mean I knew he left his post when Eve was seven and didn’t come back. But even though I was angry at him it didn’t surprise me that he would do something like this. “Of course Blade is leading one of the factions!”

General Basket nodded. “Yup! And the one faction that attacked the compound on the day of Prodigy Evelyn's wedding has been rounded up and promptly executed for treason. It seems that every leader of each faction either has some sort of connection with Prodigy Evelyn or is after her because they know how valuable Agent she is. The reason for her to save the world so to speak is this…”

He ordered his soldiers on one of the Tv screens to show a satellite picture from space. What I saw made my jaw drop. “You can’t be serious right? Please tell me you’re joking.”

He sighed, “I wish I could tell you that I was joking but I’m not. We need Prodigy Evelyn’s powers to be strong enough to deal with this.”

I shook my head. “There’s no way Eve can handle a meteorite that big! Aren’t there any other Agents who can do the same thing?”

General Basket shook his head. “I’m afraid that is a negative. The fate of the world and the fate of humanity rests on Prodigy Evelyn’s shoulders. Which is why she needs to get her powers, especially her Demon Power under control. She needs to connect with the Demon inside of her to do it. When she was born, she was born with the Demon Power. In a sense because she was born with it instead of it being transferred to her she’s half Demon to be precise.”

I choked. “Seriously?”

He nodded. “I’m dead serious. Whatever you do, don't tell Prodigy Evelyn about this. It’ll overwhelm her and derail her training.”

“Great, just great,” I said. “Is there any other traumatizing information that I need to know about?”

He shook his head. “Nope! That’s everything! Just don’t tell her about what’s really going on. Or anyone else for that matter.”

I nodded. “Is that everything I’m needed for today?”

General Basket nodded. “Yeah that’s everything. You may go now.”

I nodded again and spun on my heels and left the room.

Eve’s been training really hard lately and from what I’ve seen, she’s being worn out. One time I went to see what was being done to her on her training and to say I was shocked was an understatement.

Trainer Michael had Eve dragging a chain that was attached to three semi trucks and he was yelling, “Come on! You think five miles is a record? Please I can pull these things for ten!”

“Then why don’t you pull it!” Eve snapped.

“Yeah last time I checked, this is your training not mine! Now stop being a big baby and pull!” Trainer Michael yelled. “You’ve pulled this thing for five miles so far, I want to see you pull it for ten! And then after that we’ll upgrade it to an actual semi truck!”

“You little bastard!” Eve snarled.

“What was that?” He growled.

“You heard me!” She fired back at him. She kept pulling the tires another mile or so but she was getting angrier with each step. But she wasn’t angry enough to snap and do something bad just yet.

“What the fuck? Stop pulling!” Trainer Michael said.

She paused. “What?”

Trainer Michael got right up into her face and smiled a sinister smile. “Well number one, you’re not angry enough. You’re angry but you’re holding back, I can see it in your eyes child! Number two, your husband has decided to grace us with his presence. From the looks of it he seems shocked about how we’re training.” He laughed, “I wonder, is he expecting us to be doing some jump rope and maybe a game of patty cake?”

Eve rolled her eyes. “Ha, ha very funny Trainer Michael.”

“Call me Uncle Michael, why don’t you?” Trainer Michael asked.

Eve shook her head. “Yeah that’s not happening.”

“Alright you’re lucky I’m going to be nice and let you off for the day,” Trainer Michael said. “Later.”

He unchained Eve and she rubbed her wrists and some blood was dripping from them showing just how hard she had been training. He handed her a towel and she wiped her wrists off.

She came up to me and hugged me. After the hug I took her back to the car I had waiting around in front to take her home.

“So how’s training going?” I asked.

“You saw me pulling the semi trucks didn’t you?” Eve said.

I nodded. “Why is he pushing you so hard anyway?”

She shrugged. “I have no idea. He’s looking for me to do something and I have no idea what.”

“I see,” I said. I smiled. “I think what’s in order for you now is a nice hot bath, a good meal and a cuddle session with me!”

Eve snorted. “You’re cute you know that?”

My smile turned into a grin. “I’m not cute. I’m handsome!”

She rolled her eyes. “Uh-huh sure you are.”

When we got home I promptly took her upstairs to the bedroom and started taking her clothes off along with mine. We both got in the shower and I couldn't resist taking her right then and there. So that's what I did and I love hearing Eve moaning and shouting my name over and over again. We fucked each other until the water ran cold and we helped each other wash up afterwards.

After I had her eat something I held her in my arms and she fell asleep almost instantly.

I was woken up in the middle of the night by the sound of a young girl giggling about something. At first I was perplexed because last time I checked there weren't any kids living in the house with Eve and I. I looked over when I heard the giggling again and saw that Eve wasn't in the bed with me but she was sitting on the floor cross legged. I thought she was awake talking to herself but judging by the way she was acting she was clearly asleep.

"You said that bunny rabbit got out again?" She mumbled.

I paused and looked to see if the giggling was coming from her but it wasn't. Okay am I going insane or something? I could've sworn I heard giggling a moment ago!

"No I really don't want to see where you hid it. I'm good!" Eve mumbled.

I watched her still trying to figure out where the goddamn giggling was coming from when I saw the shadow of a little girl standing next to Eve. It was a shadow that had eyes… Little red eyes…

The shadow looked up and stared at me and almost gave me a freaking heart attack and then it disappeared. I was going to approach Eve and try to wake her up when she suddenly got off the floor and walked out the door. I got out of bed and followed her. It's a good thing we don't sleep naked or this might be a bit embarrassing for Eve to be sleep walking like this.

I followed her down the hallway and watched as she slowly turned the corner and walked down the stairs. It wasn't until I caught her from falling off the last set of stairs that she woke up. "Okay what happened?"

She looked around. "And why the hell am I on the stairs?"

"You were sleepwalking," I answered.

She gave me a perplexed look. "Sleepwalking?"

I nodded. "Yes, you were sleepwalking. Have you done this before?"

Eve rubbed the back of her neck and said, "The last time I did that I was seven and as I got older I stopped doing it. I figured I'd grown out of it and that it was a phase or something."

"Huh, that's weird…" I said.

Eve nodded. "Yeah I know right?"

I led her over to the kitchen table and sat down next to her. "Well, I knew that after marrying you there wouldn't be a dull day in this house. Now I know there won't be a dull night either!"

She chuckled, "Yeah… The question is what am I going to do about this? The last time this happened I chained myself to the bed while I slept."

"We'll figure out what to do. This problem affects me too. What if you walk out into the street and get hurt that way? Or what if I wasn't there to catch you if you fell down that last set of stairs?" I said.

She gave me a deadpanned look. "Oh."

I nodded. "Uh-huh. So while I think chaining you to the bed by your ankle at least might give me some assurance that you're not going to walk off in your sleep. But what happens if you fall asleep when you're not on the bed?"

"That's another good question," Eve said. "Honestly, I have no idea."

"I wonder if Ms. Terra might have any ideas? I mean she is your boss after all," I said. "Not to mention you two seem very close."

She nodded. "That's a good idea. Although I don't think she's awake at this time of night."

It was as if on cue the phone in the kitchen rang. I picked it up. "Hello? Who is this?"

"This is Ms. Terra, is this Levi who's speaking?" Ms. Terra asked.

"Yes it's me. What's going on?" I asked.

"Is Eve sleepwalking again?" Ms. Terra questioned.

I paused. "Yes… How do you know that?"

"I can't say exactly why over the phone," Ms. Terra explained. "But could you please stop by Cornwall Security at 8am today? I'll explain as much as I can then."

"Should I bring Eve with me?" I asked.

"No, this information is only for you and you can't tell Eve about it at all," Ms. Terra said.

"Why?" I said.

"You'll find out when you get here. Goodnight and I'll see you soon," Ms. Terra said. Then she hung up the phone.

"Who was that on the phone?" Eve asked.

"It was Ms. Terra," I replied. "She said wanted to talk to me about something and that I should come into the office in the morning."

"Oh," Eve said.

I was waiting for her to ask more questions but when she didn't I frowned. "Aren't you wondering why she called?"

Eve shook her head. "Not really. I have a feeling of why already and it probably has something to do with my sleepwalking. Apparently the last time I did any sleepwalking was when I turned seven Ms. Terra was there and she sensed it when it first happened. I'm not sure if she did anything about it though."

"Oh I see," I said. I looked up at the clock and it was a little bit past 1am and sighed, "We should probably try and get some more sleep. Don't worry I'll lock the door so you won't walk out of the room in your sleep again tonight."

She laughed, "Okay then. Let's go back to bed."

We went back to bed and little did I know I was going to receive some rather shocking information about Eve that would make me leave my jaw on the floor in awe of her.
