Chapter 26: The Meteorite

Chapter 26: The Meteorite

{Levi's Dad}

Out of curiosity I looked into Eve's background and I found nothing to be concerned about. The reason that I was really concerned was that I was told by Levi that Eve often returned home from her job looking pretty banged up so of course he's worried about her.

Eve signed up for the military at eighteen but was trained in martial arts at a very young age. She was trained as soon as she could walk. I couldn't be more proud to have a tough as nails daughter-in-law like Eve. I bet whatever grandchildren she gives us will be just as strong.

Especially after what I saw on the news today. I was in my office doing some paperwork when my PA burst into the room. I groaned, "How many times do I have to tell you to knock before you enter?"

"I'm sorry Boss but you gotta see this! It's all over the news! It concerns your daughter-in-law!" My PA said.

I raised an eyebrow. "It's not bad is it?"

He shook his head. "Nope! It's awesome!"

I grabbed my laptop and searched for what my PA told me to and the first article that came up was a news article. The headline for it was: America's Number One Soldier Fends Off Attempted Kidnapping Leaving Three Dead and Two Severely Injured!

According to the article, Eve and Levi were on a vacation when five men approached Eve after Levi left to get their drinks. Eve fought off her attackers, killing three of them and wounding the other two enough to send them to the hospital in critical condition. Apparently, they were trying to kidnap her in order to sell her into a human trafficking ring.

I scoffed and thought, Of course they would think that a soldier would make a good addition for a human trafficking ring!

I looked up at my PA. "Cancel the rest of my appointments for the day and call my driver. I'm going to go see how my daughter-in-law and son are doing."

He nodded. "Yes sir."

{Eve}

Levi and I decided to return home on Sunday. When we got home I didn't feel like doing anything except for spending as much time as I could with Levi. Levi suggested that we unwind and just watch Tv or a movie.

I opted to watch a random show on Tv. Eventually the Tv just became background noise when I straddled Levi and we started making out.

He pulled my pants down and unzipped his. He let me set the pace as I thrusted into him. We both moaned and called out each other's names and after a moment we climaxed. I could tell by the way he was kissing me that he wanted to go again and I felt the same way.

Shortly after I started thrusting on him again I heard someone clear their throat to get our attention. I ignored whoever it was and continued to thrust onto Levi while Levi was still kissing me. I really didn't feel like talking to Levi's parents at the moment. Hell, I didn't really feel like spending any time with anyone but Levi at the moment.

"Dear, maybe we should leave them alone and come back later?" Levi's Mom said. "They're in the process of giving me grandbabies!"

I'm going to pretend that I didn't just hear that cringy statement! Hopefully they'll take a hint and leave us alone? I thought.

But that was wishful thinking as Levi's Dad cleared his throat again. I stopped what I was doing and groaned. "Looks like your parents are here."

Levi groaned. "Way to kill the mood Mom and Dad!"

I got off of Levi and we fixed our clothes so we'd be presentable when talking to Levi's parents.

"Let's go to the other living room downstairs," Levi said.

Levi's parents followed us to the other living room that had a bigger couch in it. It was in the shape of an L so Levi and I sat on one corner of the couch and his parents sat on the other corner.

"So, what was so important that you had to interrupt us?" Levi said.

"Well I just wanted to see how you guys were doing after what I saw on the news today," Levi's Dad said.

"We're doing just fine Dad. The whole attempted kidnapping thing, yeah that's business as usual for me," I said.

Mom raised an eyebrow. "You sure about that? Because this is the first time I'm hearing about you almost being kidnapped."

"That's because that's the story the Council wants you to hear," I said.

"Huh?" Dad said.

"A lot of what I do on my job is very classified. I've stared at the barrel of the gun one too many times, it doesn't even faze me anymore," I said. "As far as the kidnapping attempt goes, I give them an A for effort."

Dad laughed, "Damn Levi! You got lucky with this woman!"

"Hmm, reminds me of the time that I got kidnapped by my husband's business rival," Mom said.

I blinked. Okay, that was random.

"So what happened?" I asked.

"The guy wanted to take an important business deal from my husband and he wanted to take me away too. I knew there was something off about that guy since the first time I met him. The guy apparently was obsessed with me and wanted to make my husband go bankrupt," Mom answered. "I was pregnant with Kelly at that time and I almost lost her because of that bastard. He wanted me to lose the baby so he could impregnate me and get me to divorce my husband."

"I rescued her of course, and I took care of the idiot and he never bothered my wife or my business again. Because I was going to get the deal regardless. That's what the company told me because the other guy's company was doing some really shady shit," Dad said. "After that happened I taught your mother how to shoot a gun and some self defense moves."

Mom rolled her eyes. "And I'm very thankful for that dear."

I snorted. "Well at least Levi won't have to worry about that with me."

Levi nodded. "Yup. Just think if I'd married Rachel that would've been a completely different story. Imagine my surprise when I hired Cornwall Security and Eve was on the security detail! And here I thought she was a normal Personal Assistant."

"Yup," I said. "I was using the PA job as a cover job the whole entire time. Which is exactly why I didn't want to get close to Levi at first. I had no idea how long I was going to be at that job before I got transferred to another one. Besides, he was engaged at that time anyway."

"Yeah but you were working for me before I got engaged," Levi said. "I wanted to be engaged to you right from the very start. My eyes have always been for you."

"Ooof," I said. "You mean to tell me that Rachel was just an option? Don't tell her that."

Levi chuckled. "Rachel already knew I was just an option for her because she was gay."

Then my powers activated and they showed me Elder Lewis's car pulling up to the driveway. I groaned.

Levi frowned. "What's wrong?"

"Elder Lewis is here for a visit," I whispered.

Shortly after I said that Elder Lewis was escorted into the room by the butler.

Elder Lewis smiled at me. "I hope I'm not interrupting something."

I groaned again, "Really? I thought you said that I have time off until Tuesday!"

Elder Lewis rubbed the back of neck. "Well you do but that's under my orders. However, something just came up and you're being summoned by the Council… Tonight. I'll give you a moment to get changed into your soldiers' uniform."

I nodded. "Okay then."

I leaned over and kissed Levi who didn't look happy and I don't blame him. I wasn't happy about this situation either.

"You're not going to war are you?" Levi asked.

I shook my head. "I don't know what happened. But no matter what I'll make sure that I make it back to you."

Levi nodded and I went to change into my uniform. When I came downstairs Levi and his parents looked at me in awe as if they'd never seen a soldier in uniform before. Levi and his parents came up and hugged me one at a time.

"Don't worry," I said. "I'll be back as soon as I can."

Elder Lewis nodded. "Let's go, Prodigy Evelyn. Time is of the essence."

{Ms. Terra}

"Are you serious?" I almost shrieked. "But the meteorite wasn't supposed to come for another year!"

General Basket nodded. "I know but it seems like the meteorite decided to speed up. I've never seen anything like it! Even the President of the USA has agreed that this is an important matter. We've been preparing for this day for a while now. It's just happening sooner than we expected. Prodigy Evelyn is ready to go too according to Trainer Michael. He's been secretly training her for this day without her knowing it."

We were standing in the briefing room where there were a bunch of Tv monitors and Agents standing by them pressing buttons on huge machines next to the Tv monitors.

I paused when I remembered what Trainer Michael had Eve doing for the past few months. He had her in a room that simulated zero gravity in space and fighting him with weights on her wrists.

"Is that why he had her fighting in zero gravity training?" I asked.

General Basket nodded. "Yup! That's what's so great about Trainer Michael. He knows what needs to be done and how to adapt to it."

As we were talking Eve entered the room with Elder Lewis followed by the other Elder's on the Council. Once General Basket recognized that they entered the room he yelled, "Soldiers! Attttention!"

Every soldier in the room stopped what they were doing and stood up.

"Prodigy Evelyn and the Council have arrived!" General Basket announced.

Elder Williams stood in front of the Elder's and Eve. He turned to Eve. "Prodigy Evelyn. You are being tasked with the most important task ever! This task will be the one that saves the world."

Eve gave Elder Williams a look of disbelief but she didn't say anything. I don't blame her because if I were in her shoes I'd feel the same way.

She blinked. "Forgive me for speaking out of turn Elder Williams, but why me?"

"Because you have something that almost every Agent in this congregation doesn't have. It's something that you were born with," Elder Williams said.

Her eyes went wide. "My Demon Power?"

Elder Williams nodded. "Exactly. You've been training for this day and you didn't even know it. Tomorrow morning you go to the NASA space center and we'll fill you in on the rest while you're there."

"Yes sir. I accept this task and will do my best to finish it. I am a soldier and an Agent first before being anything else," Eve said.

Elder Williams nodded again. "Good. I'll have my Agents escort you to where you need to go."

Without another word Eve was escorted out of the room. Once Eve left I turned to General Basket. "Is there a way that I can contact Levi?"

He raised an eyebrow. "Levi? Oh, you mean her spouse? What would you tell him? This is a highly classified job that she's doing. Hmm…" He thought about it for a moment. "You can tell him that Prodigy Evelyn will return. And the job she's doing is a matter of national security. Which in a way that's true considering she's not only going to just save a country but also the world."

I nodded. "Thanks."

I left the room to place a call to Levi.

It had been two hours since Eve left and my parents decided to stay with me to offer moral support.

"Calm down son," Dad said. "I'm sure everything will be fine."

"I swear Eve will be the death of me with this job of hers. I try so hard not to worry about her while she's working but I can't help it!" I said.

"We know, son. That's why we're staying here until Eve gets back. You seem like you need some support more so now than ever," Mom said.

I forced myself to sit down so I'd stop pacing and smiled. "Thank you."

Mom shook her head. "No need to thank us Levi. It's what good parents do."

I nodded. My cell phone rang and I saw that it was Ms. Terra calling and she was on video call. I answered it, "Hello? What's going on?"

I noticed that Ms. Terra was dressed in her soldier's uniform much like how Eve was dressed before she left the house.

"Levi, first of all, who else is in the room with you?" Ms. Terra asked.

"Just my parents, why?" I said.

"Well that's good because you'll need them for moral support after what I'm about to tell you," Ms. Terra said.

I nodded. "Okay?"

"Eve is on a very important and highly classified mission. It's a matter of national security and the protection of our nation!" Ms. Terra said. "That is all I can tell you about this. Please be assured that she will come home alive."

"How do you know that?" I snapped.

"When has Eve ever come home in a body bag?" Ms. Terra asked.

I took a deep breath and let it out. "Never."

"Exactly. She's never come home in a body bag before and she won't come home in a body bag now. I know she'll complete this task with flying colors. She's been training for this day for a while now. It just came a lot sooner than we expected…" Ms. Terra said.

I paused. "What do you mean by that?"

She shook her head. "I can't say. But this'll be the only time I can contact you until Eve returns home. But believe me when I say that she will come back."

With that she ended the call.

That night it was so hard for me to sleep. When I finally did fall asleep I saw Izzy's bunny Rex hop onto my bed.

"Oh, hey Levi," Izzy said. "Sorry I haven't been around much. Sir Jesse has been keeping me busy with odd jobs for whatever the reason."

"Why are you here?" I asked.

She sat down on the bed next to me. "What do you mean?"

"Why are you here?" I asked again. "Shouldn't you be with Eve?"

"Oh, yeah I'll get to her soon. Sir Jesse just wanted me to notify you first about what Eve's going to be doing tomorrow," Izzy said.

I paused. "Okay… What is she going to be doing tomorrow?"

"There's a meteorite headed towards Earth that could wipe out all of the human race-" Izzy said.

"What!" I said.

"Let me finish," Izzy said. "Eve is going to be the one to stop the meteorite. It wasn't supposed to come for another year but something made it speed up for whatever the reason. Eve is going to use her Demon Power to stop it. If she can level a building with it, she can destroy a meteorite with it."

"But, how?" I asked. "She's barely getting to the point where she can control it on her own."

She nodded. "I know and Sir Jesse is aware of that too. Don't worry, Sir Jesse and I will be there with her and she will return home alive. We'll make sure of it. If something goes wrong we'll be there to save her."

I sighed, "Ms. Terra told me the same thing. Well if a powerful demon is telling me the same thing then it must be true. I'm going to hold you to your word."

She nodded and gave me a look of determination. "Don't worry. But I know you will. Just know that Eve will come home alive…"

After Izzy said that she faded away and I woke up.

{Eve}

When I finally got to the space station in space I was shown to my room and left alone for the rest of the day to get some rest. Once I managed to fall asleep I saw Rex, Izzy's bunny hop up on my lap.

"Hey there, how have you been?" I asked. "It's been awhile since I've seen you."

"I know. Sir Jesse has been giving me odd jobs to do a lot lately for some reason," Izzy said. "I came here to notify you about exactly what's going down soon. There's a meteorite headed towards Earth that could wipe out the whole entire human race if it makes contact."

"Let me guess, I'm going to be the one to stop it with my Demon Power?" I asked.

Izzy nodded. "Yup. But you won't be alone. Sir Jesse and I will be with you and you will make it out alive."

I rolled my eyes. "Oh great, at least I'll make it out alive. That's comforting. What if I fail? What if I fail and the human race gets wiped out because of me?"

Izzy shook her head. "You won't fail."

"How can you be so sure?" I asked.

"You won't fail because Sir Jesse and I will be with you. Did you forget that Sir Jesse and I are demons? We're more powerful than you think. You won't fail," Izzy said. "Now it's time for you to wake up and get to work."

After that Izzy faded away and I woke up.

After I woke up, someone knocked on the door. I answered it and there was an Agent floating by my door since we're in zero gravity now.

"Agent 36… It's time," the Agent said.

I nodded and then followed the Agent to where I needed to be. He had me suit up and board a small spaceship and honestly, it reminded me of a jeep that was just outfitted for space travel somehow.

The person sitting next snickered into their headset and said, "So you're the woman who's going to save us all, huh?"

I shrugged. "I guess so."

"Good luck Agent 36 and you're going to die," the person sitting next me laughed.

"Seriously Agent 97?" The driver of the jeep said.

"What? It's a strong possibility right?" Agent 97 said.

I rolled my eyes. "It's okay. She's just trying to lighten the mood. But at the same time… She might be right about that."

Once I got out to where I needed to be I waved goodbye to the jeep and made my way across to the other moon. For a normal human it would take probably days or maybe even weeks to get to the other side. But because I have the powers that I have it only took me an hour to get there. That's when I saw it. The meteorite that was sailing very fast towards Earth.

A man appeared beside me. He had silver hair and all black eyes. He wore black robes. He grinned. "Ready to do this Eve?"

"Who are you?" I said.

"My name is Jesse or as Izzy refers to me as Sir Jesse. But you can call me Jesse," the man said.

"Okay so exactly what are we going to do?" I asked.

"You're going to climb on top of that meteorite and I'm going to help you activate your Demon Power to destroy it," Jesse said.

"Easier said than done. Look at how fast that thing is going!" I said.

"Don't worry, I'll be with you," Jesse said.

I nodded and used my wind power to fly out to the meteorite and Jesse was pushing me along to it as well. Once I got on top of the meteorite I stood still.

Jesse stood next to me and then I felt a strong pull as if something was draining my energy. I groaned and sat down.

"Stand up Eve. I'm draining your other powers because that's what will activate your Demon Power. The easiest way to activate Demon Power is if it is being used as a last resort," Jess explained. "There are other ways to activate it but this is the quickest way. After this I'll help you learn to control it."

"How can you be so sure that I'll live after this?" I asked.

Jesse smiled. "You will live because I am with you. I'm also a demon so that helps."

I gave a nervous chuckle. "Okay then."

"Just stand still and I will help you," Jesse instructed.

I did as I was told and kept feeling my energy being drained from me. Finally after what felt like forever I felt the meteorite start to shake.

"That's it! It's activating!" Jesse said. "Just a little bit more."

My heart was beating so fast and I felt like I couldn't breathe. I tried taking a breath but found myself holding it instead. I wanted to talk and tell him to stop but I couldn't. I couldn't see anything and then… I was falling… I free falling from the meteorite to Earth.

When I finally touched down on Earth I landed in the middle of an Ocean. One might think that if you fall that far from a meteorite you'd be dead right? Not for me. I'm not a normal human and I had help from a demon to destroy the meteorite.

Till this day a lot of people (mostly Agents that know about this) say it's a miracle that I lived but I knew the truth. This was no miracle but I chose not to say anything because what would be the point? No one would believe me anyway.
