It's been months since I volunteered to be tested on. I really want to be doing what Eve's been doing. But from what I just found out there's different jobs besides being an Agent like Eve. Not to mention Eve's job is one of the hardest jobs to get into. Most of the time outsiders don't become high ranking agents.
A lot of the job assignments are different, like Boot Camp Instructors, regular Agents, Assassins that are also referred to as Enforcers , and so much more. I didn't realize that there was more to what Eve's dealt with.
After I gained a couple of abilities I was sent to boot camp. A couple of my abilities are that I can use the element of fire and create different attacks based on that. I can also turn objects into magnets and I can turn into a cat. A black cat specifically. People think black cats bring bad luck so I was thinking of playing pranks on people just to fuck with them.
From what I've learned that the cults aren't really founded on religion as there is no god that is worshiped within the cults. The cults are based on a bigger purpose than religion and that is total world domination. But not completely out in the open about it. But the cults in general prefer to be called congregations. You have to call them congregations or you will be disciplined if you don't.
Most of the Agents here were either raised in the congregations or sold into the congregations and the Agents that were sold into the congregation sometimes their parents want them back. But by the time that happens the children don't want to go back and there's nothing the parents can do about it because they signed all their rights away.
I've only been in boot camp for a couple of months and from what I was told I won't get assigned to a congregation until after I finish boot camp. I was told that since I'm an outsider it would take me at least three years before I'm assigned to a congregation and start training to do whatever job they decide to give me.
I was dozing off when I heard my Boot Camp Instructor call my name. "Yo! Harriman! You got a visitor!"
I stood up from my bunk bed and followed the instructor out the door.
"Who's my visitor?" I asked.
The instructor shook his head. "I have no idea but he doesn't look happy."
"Oh," I said.
The instructor led me to the visitor's area and I saw Levi sitting at a table tapping his fingers on it. I knew what the look on his face meant. He was angry and I wasn't sure if it was about me or something else.
I took a seat across from him. "So… What's going on?"
Levi frowned. "What do you mean?"
I rolled my eyes. "Oh please, I can see that you're not happy from a mile away! Even my Boot Camp Instructor could see it!"
He sighed, "I can't help it. It's Eve, she's…"
My eyes went wide. "What? What happened to Eve?"
He sighed again, "She got promoted…"
I paused. "Okay. That's a good thing, right?"
He shook his head. "Not with the type of job she just got and it's the one job she didn't want to get."
"No," I said. I knew exactly what type of job Levi was talking about. "You mean she's going to be an Assassin now?"
Levi nodded slowly. I tried to think of something to cheer him up and I did. I just didn't know if it's going to work. "Hey, you know what? Instead of acting like it's doomsday or something, why not go out and celebrate? I mean it is a promotion right?"
He paused and opened his mouth to say something and then shut it.
"Why not go out on a date? Just you and Eve? When's the last time you two spent some time alone with each other?" I said.
"It's… Been a while…" Levi said.
I nodded and smiled. "Well, there you go! Ask Eve when her next day off is and go on a date. This is the perfect time for that, don't you think?"
He went from grumpy to at least showing a small smile. "That sounds like a good idea. Now that that's taken care of, have I told you how much of an idiot you are for joining whatever this movement is?"
"What? I think what I'm doing now is pretty cool! Besides, I already have some new abilities just like Eve does! I would show you but there might be some outsiders here that don't know what the fuck is going on," I said.
"Well I know what's going on and I think you're an idiot! But then again, there's no stopping you when you make your mind up on something," Levi growled. "Why didn't you follow in Dad's footsteps like I did? That's the safer option."
I rolled my eyes. "Ugh! Seriously? Why would I do that boring stuff? You know how I am. If I don't want to do it I won't succeed."
"You're lucky that you have an older brother or you'd be forced to take over the business," Levi hissed.
I snorted. "As if I'd listen to that old fart. He'd have to find someone else for the business anyway because I'd just wind up finding my own way to make money."
Levi sighed, "Okay then. Will you be able to come home for a visit?"
I shrugged. "I don't know. Summer break for cadets is coming up soon. So maybe then? I'll let you know if that's the case."
"Wow, you make boot camp sound like it's school," Levi said.
"I guess so," I said.
"Harriman!" Someone called out, "Visiting time is over!"
I looked at Levi. "See you later bro. And hopefully it's on better terms."
Without another word I got up and left the room.

I stood off to the side in a room that held a meeting. But it wasn't just any ordinary meeting. It was a meeting of two mafia's. Now that I'm an Assassin which is also called an Enforcer, I'm working underneath Elder Lewis and I have to go where I'm told to. I still go by the name Agent 36 in the field.
If someone told me that I would be working for different mafia's to keep the balance for the Underground world I would've laughed at them. But here I am, working for different mafia's as an Enforcer. But only the mafia's that Elder Lewis feels are important to keep as allies.
I remember my shock when I got the list of targets that I needed to kill and who I'd be helping.
"Seriously? You want me to work for a mafia?" I said while giving Elder Lewis a look of disbelief.
He nodded. "Yup, but only the ones that the Council deems fit to help out. I know you prefer killing Mafia Boss's than working with them but you'll see the bigger picture once you get used to it."
I groaned because I really didn't want to do this type of job.
"Think of it this way, you don't exactly work for the Mafia. You work for the Council. Oh and you have to wear this mask over your eyes to hide your identity," Elder Lewis said.
He handed me a simple black cloth with two holes big enough for me to see out of and not interfere with my job. I wore the same type of outfit that I wore when I was working with Mother Terra. I wore a black suit with a white shirt underneath the suit jacket and a small black tie. I also wore black dress shoes. I had a black belt around my waist that had a gun attached to it with easy access for when I needed it.
"Remember, you work for the Council not the Mafia you do not speak even when spoken to. You're there to do a job and that's it," Elder Lewis instructed.
I nodded. "Yes, Elder Lewis."
"Good," said Elder Lewis. "Once you get your job done, report back to me. Oh and keep your anger at a minimum. I don't want you leveling a building while you're on a job. Follow my orders and you'll be just fine."
"Yes, Elder Lewis," I said.
He dismissed me and I left the room.
Now that I'm on the job I'm standing off to the side watching my target. The Mafia Boss in question that Elder Lewis sent me to work with told Elder Lewis to have me look for a signal to kill the enemy. I'd make sure it'd be quick, painless, get in, get the job done and then get out.
Two Mafia Boss's at the meeting sat across from each other at what looked like a conference table big enough to seat at least twelve people. Six people on one side and six people on the other. Six people from the Mafia that I was currently doing a job for sat on the right of the table and the other Mafia Boss and his people sat on the other side.
The Mafia that I was doing a job for I'll just call him Mafia Boss One and the other Mafia Boss, Mafia Boss Two. I had no idea how much time had passed or what Mafia Boss One and Mafia Boss Two but I stood by patiently waiting for the signal for the guy in question to be killed. It wasn't Mafia Boss Two that needed to be killed. It was his right hand man sitting next to him on the left side of the table. I have no idea what the guy did but the Council deemed him worthy enough to be killed.
I kept my eyes looking straight ahead because I didn't want to give away who I was working for or who I was going to kill. I was glad that Mafia Boss One took that into consideration as well which is why he had me standing where I'm standing right now.
I waited and finally Mafia Boss One gave me the signal which was an upside down peace sign. I drew my gun and shot Mafia Boss Two's right hand man in the chest right where was twice. The man slumped over and the light faded from his eyes telling me that he was dead.
However, as soon as I shot the guy, Mafia Boss Two's men stood up and pointed their guns at me. I didn't say a word. I just stood staring at the guns as if nothing was going on.
"I suggest you guys put your guns down," Mafia Boss One said.
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.
"And why would I give my guys an order to put their guns down huh? She killed one of my men! It's only fair that I have her head on a silver platter don't you think?" Mafia Boss Two growled.
Mafia Boss One laughed a wicked laugh. "Because this lady isn't just any Agent." He turned to me. "Agent 36, please turn to the left and tilt your head to show this man your tattoo."
I did as I was told. Every Enforcer has a tattoo on the left side of their neck. It's an open purple flower (a daisy to be exact) and your number that you have as an Agent next to it. My purple flower has the number 36 next to it.
Once I showed Mafia Boss Two my tattoo I turned back around to face the guns that were pointed at me. Mafia Boss Two's eyes went wide. "Boys, put your guns away."
"But Boss-" one of Mafia Boss Two's men started to say.
"Put your guns away unless you want to be added to the death list!" Mafia Boss Two barked.
Everyone except Mafia Boss Two and Mafia Boss One and me gasped in shock. Mafia Boss Two's men put their guns away and sat back down.
Mafia Boss One sat there staring at Mafia Boss Two with a smug look on his face. "You see, Agent 36 here is an Enforcer for the Council. If you're on their list well… Then you die. Agent 36 carries out the will of the Council and if I were you I'd start kissing the Council's asses if you want to be in their good graces."
I wanted to roll my eyes so badly because from what I know of it's not about kissing anybody's ass with the Council. If you're deemed worthy to die, there's no bribing them to get out of it.
"Well then, this meeting is over," Mafia Boss Two said. He and his men abruptly stood up and left the room.
I nodded to Mafia Boss One singling that my job was done and left the room to report to Elder Lewis. I pressed the button on my earpiece and said, "Elder Lewis, this Agent 36 and the job is done."
"Good, report back to me," Elder Lewis commanded.
"Yes sir," I said. I pressed the button again and started walking.
"Wait! Agent 36 can I speak to you?" Mafia Boss One called out to me.
I turned around and gave him a look as if to say 'what do you want?'
He rubbed the back of his neck. "Well, I was wondering if I could see you outside of the job sometime, like on a date?"
I shook my head.
"Why are you with someone?" Mafia Boss One asked.
I nodded.
"Are you married?"
I nodded.
"Can you use words instead of just nodding?"
I shook my head.
Mafia Boss One's shoulders slumped in disappointment. I mean don't get me wrong it's not like the Mafia Boss was ugly. He was far from ugly. I could see that even though he had a suit on that he was just as built as Levi was. He had blonde hair and green eyes. Even though he had a playboy look to him it made me think of Levi. I couldn't wait to get home to Levi.
I found it kind of funny that this man made me think of Levi at a time like this.
Mafia Boss One said, "So I guess I'll be seeing you on your next job that you work for me?"
I shrugged.
"Alright then, see you around."
I gave him a salute and left.

When I got back to headquarters I was surprised to see Elder Lewis smiling no more like he was grinning. I didn't know what to think about it.
"I know that look. You're wondering why I'm so happy right?" Elder Lewis said.
I nodded.
"When's the last time you and Levi had some time alone together? Like real alone time?" Elder Lewis asked.
I paused. "It's been awhile. Why?"
"Well, you're in luck because I'm willing to give you the weekend off because you're going after a target that will be staying at the hotel that you and Levi will be staying at," Elder Lewis said.
"And what makes you think that I'm going to stay at that hotel specifically?" I asked.
"Because it's an order from me. Follow my orders and we're all good. Don't follow them and… Well let's just say you know what I can do to you if you don't…" Elder Lewis said. "Anyway, I already said the same thing to Levi and he agreed to go to that hotel. Don't worry, it's a five star hotel for a five star target."
I just stood there and stared at him, not believing what I just heard. Elder Lewis rolled his eyes. "Run along now. I'll see you on Monday."
He didn't have to tell me twice. So I left the room before he changed his mind.

"I thought it was too easy to get Elder Lewis to agree to give you some time off!" I growled.
Even though I was happy that I got Eve the weekend off I wasn't happy that Elder Lewis was going to have Eve do a job right after.
Eve rolled her eyes. "No kidding! Leave it up to Elder Lewis to do that. At least when I worked for Mother Terra, a day off meant a day off and no hidden agenda."
"Alright then well, let's not stand around here and grumble about our short vacation and pack a bag. Oh and you won't need much because I don't plan on having you out of the bed a whole lot, except for maybe dinner," I said as I gave her a flirtatious smile.
She pulled me into her arms and kissed me. When she stopped kissing me she said, "Keep talking like that and we might not make it out of the house sexy man."
I paused and smirked. "Did you just call me sexy man?"
She nodded and kissed me again.
"Damn it! Why did you do that? No fair!" I said.
She laughed. "Come on, the sooner we pack our bags the sooner we can get to our hotel room and do whatever we want for the rest of the night."
Oh I know exactly what I want to do for the rest of the night! You're killing me over here woman! I thought.
On the ride to the hotel I sat in the back of the limo next to Eve and crossed my legs. I was trying my best to hide the boner that I had that wouldn't go away.
Eve looked at me and smirked because she knew what she did. She didn't say anything. She just smirked.
Once we got into our hotel room I didn't wait long until I had her in my arms and started kissing her as I took her clothes off. We didn't even make it to the bed when we landed on the couch in the living room.
"That's not fair Levi," Eve pouted.
"Hmm?" I said.
"You are a little bit overdressed and I'm naked," Eve said.
"I see," I said.
I took my clothes off and once we were both naked we had sex. That told me exactly what we were going to do all night. Which is exactly what I wanted and it was clear that we weren't going to leave the room. That was fine by me.

Levi and I didn't leave our hotel room until the next day when we were hungry of course and decided to do some chilling out by the pool. That night we decided to go to the bar that was in the lobby of the hotel.
We sat in a booth in a corner of the bar for privacy. But that privacy didn't last very long when Levi got up to go get our drinks from the bar. A young man who had to have been about George's age slid into the booth across from me.
I groaned and rolled my eyes. "Listen young man, I don't know who you are or why you think you can just move in on someone else's woman but I'm not interested."
"Aw come on! You're not even going to give me a shot?" The young man whined.
"No," I answered. "Now leave!"
When the young man didn't leave I stood up to leave. But before I could get away from the booth another man stepped in front of me. It wasn't just any man who stepped in front of me, it was the fucking target!
"Is my boy here giving you a hard time?" The target asked.
"Yes, he's interrupting my date with my husband. Now if you'll excuse me-" I said.
The target grabbed my hand and smacked my ass. He smirked. "Ah yes, this one will make a pretty penny for us, don't you think boys?"
Out of nowhere two groups of men surrounded us. It's a good thing I wasn't wearing a dress because wearing a dress wouldn't have been a good thing for a fight.
The target wrapped his arms around my waist and said, "You know it's not very ladylike to have tattoos."
I snorted. "What's the matter? Afraid of a little Enforcer like me? Gee I wonder why you're on the death list? I guess the Council doesn't like human trafficking."
The target had all of his men, even the guy sitting at the booth, draw their guns.
"It doesn't matter," the target sneered. "You're coming with us!"
I shook my head. "Yeah I don't think so."
I stomped on the target's foot and elbowed him in the stomach. He grunted and stumbled backwards. When he regained his composure he drew his gun and pointed it at me.
"Alright everyone, don't move!" The target barked. "The Enforcer's mine!"
I laughed, "Aww that's cute! Come on big boy, show me what you got!"
The target and his men didn't know what hit them because I didn't give them a chance to strike first when I made a whole bunch of bullets with my powers and spun around as fast as I could. As I spun around I released the bullets at their feet and it was as if I was firing a gun at them. A couple of the bullets hit the mark and some of the targets men stumbled backwards accidently firing their guns in the air.
I used my wind power to snatch their guns from them and their magazines out and emptied them on the floor.
"Gentlemen!" I said. "You guys aren't on the death list, only your Boss is! If you leave now, you'll be spared. If not, then you die with him!"
"Fuck you bitch!" One of the target's men called out.
I cracked my knuckles. "Alright then."
The target and his men didn't stand a chance against me. I turned around and grabbed the target by his hair and slammed his head down on the nearby table hearing his neck snap. His body fell to the ground with a small thud and the guy sitting at the booth didn't look too happy about that.
"Damn it! You've really done it now!" The guy at the booth said.
I rolled my eyes and prepared to take him on when I heard Elder Lewis roar, "Seriously? Matthews, tell the rest of your attack dogs to stand down!"
Matthews grinned and shook his head. "Nope, the Boss is dead and now I'm in charge. Of course I was always in charge to begin with. Now I think I need to be somewhat compensated for my men that your little Enforcer injured-"
Elder Lewis burst into a fit of laughter as if Matthews had told the best joke ever. He regained his composure, "Seriously? My Enforcer did her job and your attack dogs got injured." He shrugged. "It comes with the territory dumbass! You know that, and what the fuck are you doing with the target anyway? Have you forgotten what your job is for the congregation?"
Matthews stood up from the booth and spat on the ground. "I don't fucking care. Because after today, I quit!"
Elder Lewis laughed a wicked laugh. "See, that's where you're wrong Matthews. You can't quit. It's considered treason if you run from your post. And you don't want to know how the Council deals with traitors… Or do you?"
"My is or was in this case to evaluate the Enforcers to see how well they're handling their jobs," Matthews snarled. "And based on how Agent 36 killed the target who was going to be my ticket out of this job, I'd say she's handling things pretty well."
At this point in the conversation I had so many questions. Elder Lewis turned to me and gave me a look as if to say 'I know what you're thinking' and nodded. "Agent 36, stand down and stand by." He cracked his knuckles. "I'll finish taking out the trash."
I did as I was told and watched the fight between Matthews and Elder Lewis take place. I watched in awe as I saw Elder Lewis attack Matthews and his men with such strength and precision. He controlled his powers very well. Unlike me, I was still having a hard time getting my Demon Power under control.
After the fight was over Matthews and his men were all dead. Elder Lewis dusted off his hands. "Well, now that that's over. I'll send other Agents to clean up this mess. Good job Agent 36. You got the job done a lot earlier than I thought you would. So you get an extra day off. Might want to go to another hotel though."
"Honestly, I think we're good staying here. Levi should be back with the drinks-" I said.
Elder Lewis chuckled. "Oh he's back already. I'm pretty sure that he's been having fun watching his wife do her job. Enjoy the rest of your time off though. See you on Tuesday."
Elder Lewis walked off as if nothing had happened. I stepped over a couple of dead bodies and I felt sorry for the bartender. They're probably scared out their wits unless they're also an Agent which wouldn't surprise me at all.
"So that's how an Agent gets the job done!" Levi said with a proud smile. "That was quite a show though."
I nodded. "Yeah and that's what I deal with on a regular basis. Good thing Matthews was just dealt with as being a traitor instead of being fired." I shuddered at the thought.
Most Agents would rather be executed than fired because if an Agent is fired then they get their memories wiped and sent to another congregation. They would also have to redo boot camp and sometimes when their memories are wiped they have a mental break and are locked up in a mental home. Mostly because at that point they're a danger to themselves and others. When that happens the Agent becomes a shell of what they used to be.
"What's so bad about being fired? At least you're still alive right?" Levi asked.
I deadpanned. "Alive but not in a good way. More like zombie alive. I'm not saying anything more than that because you don't want to know."
"I see. Well on another note I got our drinks and the bartender said that he would send them up to our room. I'm going to guess that you want to go back to the room and chill out right?" Levi said.
I nodded. "Yeah that sounds like a good idea. I've had enough work for one day. At least at the room I'll be able to enjoy a drink in peace."
Levi and I went up to our room and I took a shower. After that we watched Tv and eventually I just laid on the couch in Levi's arms and drifted off to sleep.
