{Eve}
As soon as I excused myself from the meeting with Rachel and Levi I turned the corner to the hostess stand, that's when I saw him. He was dressed up in a blue suit jacket with a white button shirt underneath it. He didn't wear a tie but his dress pants matched the same color his suit jacket was. He was dressed the same way he was dressed when we went on our first date.
I remembered our first date and it was a romantic one. We went to a restaurant similar to this one and had a nice meal and then finished the date off by going for a walk on the beach. After the walk we ended in bed together at a hotel.
Jeremy even had a bouquet of roses with him. One would think that I would be happy about this but I wasn't. I was pissed! As a matter of fact I was beyond pissed! I bawled my hands into fists. "Jeremy, what the hell are you doing here?"
"I came here to start over," Jeremy said.
"Start over? Start over?" I said, "Go fuck yourself, you cheating double life living asshole! I've moved on and so should you. Leave me alone and don't ever contact me again!"
"Please give me another chance! You won't regret it if you do," Jeremy pleaded. He paused. "I, um… I got a divorce and I'm on the market and I did it for you."
I rolled my eyes. "Awww that's cute! You're trying to sweep me off my feet. Not this time asshole, have a good day!"
I turned on my heels and as I started to walk away I started to feel dizzy for some reason. Thankfully I got back to the room that Rachel and Levi were in before the dizziness got worse. I don't know what made me think of this but I looked down at my left hand to see if there were any black dots on it. That's mostly because every time I've gotten sick it's usually because I've either developed a new ability or pushed my abilities to the max. Agents can get sick like normal humans can, but the black dots usually mean something's going on with an Agent's abilities.
I looked down at my hand and sure enough the black dots were there. When I got back to the room, Rachel looked up at me and frowned. "What's wrong? You don't look so good. Are you okay?"
I shook my head. "I feel like the room is spinning on me."
Levi rushed to my side. Before I could say anything else, I passed out.

{Levi}
It seemed like it all happened in slow motion. Evelyn came back from yelling at whoever she was yelling at and passed out right in front of us. Thankfully, I was by her side before that happened.
Rachel looked at Evelyn's left hand and my eyes went wide when I saw black dots on it. "What the hell's going on?"
"Listen to me Levi, I need you to take a deep breath and stay calm," Rachel said. "Evelyn's sick and it's not because of anything this Jeremy guy did. I know because my girlfriend's gotten sick just like this before. This means that she might be knocked out for a couple of days."
"What!" I said, "You're joking right?"
Rachel shook her head. "No, I'm not. Let's get her to the car first and then I'm going to place a call to Ms. Terra."
I nodded and picked Evelyn up in my arms. When I walked out of the private room the hostess looked at me and frowned. Before she could say anything I shook my head. "Everything's fine, don't worry about it."
That was all I said as I took Evelyn out to the car that was waiting for us out front.

Once we got home I handed Evelyn off to Rachel and after that she changed Evelyn into some comfortable clothing which was one of her sweatpants and sweatshirts that seemed to fit Evelyn just right. I made a mental note of that in case I needed someone to make clothes for her in the future.
Rachel laid Evelyn on the bed in one of our guest rooms. When I entered the room I saw Evelyn sleeping peacefully like an Angel.
Rachel sighed, "This illness that Evelyn has is equivalent to the flu. Don't worry you won't get it because only Agents get it for some reason and I have no idea why. I'm going to place that call to Ms. Terra now."
Rachel left the room and made the call to Ms. Terra and judging by the sound of Ms. Terra's voice on the other end of the conversation she didn't sound happy. When Rachel got off the phone she came into the room and smiled at me. I tilted my head. "What?"
"Well Mr. Romeo, today is your lucky day!" Rachel said with a smile.
I paused. "Huh?"
"While Evelyn's knocked out she'll need someone by her side most of the time," Rachel explained. "It's to make sure that she doesn't stop breathing or become stressed in her sleep. She gets stressed out in her sleep then there's a possibility that she could go into a coma with this. It's happened to Agent's before. The best way to keep an Agent from becoming stressed while they're asleep is to have someone who's calm hold them while they sleep. It can be somebody familiar or it can be someone that the Agent doesn't know. As long as the person holding them stays calm things should be fine."
"So you're telling me that if I hold her while Evelyn sleeps then that will make sure that she doesn't go into a coma?" I asked.
Rachel nodded. "Yes and the best part about that is that sometimes when someone holds an Agent while they're sleeping because of being sick like this, that Agent will bond with whoever was holding them. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. So if you hold Evelyn and look after her while she's sleeping that just might help you two bond with each other a little bit. Although she still might not fall for it because you're still engaged."
"I see," I said.
"Don't worry, you don't have to hold her the entire time you know because you'll have things to do like nature calls and whatnot," Rachel said. "Not to mention Ms. Terra might be coming over to help out. She's held Evelyn before because this isn't the first time she's gotten sick like this. And I'll be helping out too. I'll be making sure you eat something and do things like take a shower."
I didn't say anything because I didn't know what to make of this. But if this was going to help Evelyn and I at least get closer to each other, that works for me. Rachel smiled and tilted her head towards the bed. "You know you can jump in there anytime now."
I felt my face turn red and Rachel chuckled at it.
"I'll be right back, I'm going to go change into some comfortable clothing and then I'll start helping," I said. Rachel shrugged and I went to my room and changed into some sweatpants and a sweatshirt. Once I got changed I went back to the guest room Evelyn was staying in. I made sure that my phone was sitting on the nightstand next to me along with the Tv remote before I got into bed. I made sure Evelyn was positioned with her head on my chest. I turned on the Tv and kept the volume low so it didn't disturb her in her sleep.
I smiled as I held her and thought, Don't worry Evelyn, you will be mine one of these days, you will be mine and I'll make sure of it!

{Ms. Terra}
As soon as I found out what happened to my Little Eve I went straight to the Elders. Yeah, call me heartless about not going to see if Eve was okay but Levi was there to take care of her so everything should be fine for the moment. The Elders had been keeping tabs on Levi and his engagement and they are currently waiting to see if he breaks off his engagement to Rachel. If Levi doesn't break off his engagement to Rachel soon then he'll be forbidden from being with Eve and that's something I don't want.
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
The thing is the Elder's don't want top Agent's dating other top Agent's or Eve would be with Evan like Evan wanted to be with her. I have no idea why that is now but I'm guessing it might have something to do with top Agent's children not developing powers and being somewhat immune to the testing.
The Elder's seem to be having better luck with Agent's marrying outsiders. But it depends on the situation when it comes down to that. For legal reasons the Elder's might not be able to get their hands on the children if an Agent marries an outsider.
There are loopholes when it comes down to the law of course and all that jazz. The main reason I want Eve to be with Levi is that not only will she be well off, she'll be better protected by the law when it comes down to fighting whatever legal battles the Elder's might want to engage in as far as future children go.
Not to mention Eve will have the best life possible and if she marries Levi then her status as Agent will be frozen, meaning she'll stay an Agent until she's of the age to be retired from the job. I'm pretty sure she'll be happy with that. She's often expressed to me that she doesn't want to go to her training to become an Assassin. I don't want that life for her either.
I care so much about her because she's my daughter. Ever since I got picked for a leadership position I was sworn to secrecy about everything about me. I even had to keep my real name a secret and since I had a child I had to fake my death. I'm guessing that way kids of people in power can't use the "my Mom's a leader she'll get me out of this" card to stay out of trouble. I think that's a very stupid reason if that's the case.
Eve's father left his post when she was seven years old. I don't know why he fled, but I'm going to assume it's because of what he saw while being an Agent. It's a cowardly move leaving your post while being an Agent and you're seen as a traitor if you go AWOL on your job.
The higher the rank for an Agent the more chances for horrific things to be seen on the job. The highest rank someone can go up to would be Assassin. It is very hard to get up to that rank. When Eve's father left she developed some of her abilities that very same day. One of the Elder's assigned her to a Sergeant who was training her and raising her to become an Assassin. She is what one would consider a prodigy, and that means she's a natural born killer.
Anyway, when I heard about what happened to Eve I contacted the Elder's and they agreed to have a council meeting first thing in the morning. Once I stood in front of the council the Elder in charge Elder William sat at the head of a bench. The room that the council meets at is set up a lot like a courtroom which is fitting because they're the ones that play judge and jury for serious matters. The seats where the Elders sit line the front of the room and the person being questioned stands in front of them.
Elder William banged his gavel and said, "Order in the court!" Then he turned his attention to me. "Ah, yes Ms. Reid, we all know why we're here. The other Elder's and I have been discussing this situation for months now and we have been looking for suitors for Agent 36. Let me you ask you something, why do you think Mr. Harriman is a good choice for her when he's already engaged?"
"Because he's going to break off the engagement," I said. "Not to mention she'll be protected and whatever future children she might have with him will have good genes that's for sure."
Elder Lewis who was sitting to the right of Elder William snickered. "And what happens if he doesn't break up with his fiancé? To be frank, we are getting tired of waiting to send Agent 36 back to her training to become an Assassin! And-"
Elder William put his hand up. "That's enough Elder Lewis, I'm sure Ms. Reid understands what's at stake if Agent 36 isn't married or at least in a relationship by the end of the year."
I bowed my head in respect. "Yes sir, I know what can happen."
True, Agents do kill people while they're on assignments but most assignments don't really involve killing it depends on what the assignment is. The assignment can be something as simple as intelligence gathering to capture someone and possibly kill a mafia leader. A lot of Eve's assignments lately have involved killing people. I've been wondering if the Elder's are trying to make the maneuver Eve from Agent to Assassin as smooth as possible. That way she won't even know what happened with her job until she's been told what happened.
I don't want my daughter to become an Assassin. That's because once she becomes an Assassin every assignment will be an assignment that she has to kill someone. That can take a toll on someone sooner or later. Some Assassin's wind up taking their lives because of the toll it took on them.
"Let's see, the wedding date is set for next month right?" Elder William asked.
I nodded. "Yes sir."
"Two weeks then," Elder William said.
I paused. "Huh?"
"We'll give Mr. Harriman two weeks to break off the engagement and if he doesn't do it then Agent 36 won't be allowed to be with him," Elder William said, "Not only will she not be allowed to be with him, she WILL go back to her training as an Assassin."
My eyes went wide. "Seriously?"
Elder William nodded. "I think two weeks is enough time considering the wedding date is coming up soon anyway. So if I were you, I'd encourage Mr. Harriman to make up his mind about who he wants to be with."
I nodded.
"Good, well I think that's everything for this meeting. Let the record show that Mr. Harriman has two weeks to break off his engagement with Ms. Hadder. If the engagement doesn't break then Agent 36 will be sent to begin her training to become an Assassin! This meeting is now closed!" Elder William declared.
With that the meeting ended and we went our separate ways.

{Levi}
The next day after Evelyn first passed out she was still sleeping. I held her while she slept as much as possible. I even held her when I was asleep and of course Rachel couldn't help herself but tease me about it.
When Ms. Terra finally made it over to where Eve was, she asked to speak to Rachel and I privately. I escorted us to my office and we sat down on the couch that was there next to my desk.
Ms. Terra took a deep breath and let it out, "I was wondering something, how soon do you think you guys can break off your engagement?"
I paused. "Huh?"
"How soon can you guys break off your engagement?" Ms. Terra asked.
"Why? What's the rush?" Rachel asked.
Ms. Terra sighed, "It's Eve's job…"
I raised an eyebrow. "Okay?"
"Well Eve's job isn't really just a job as it is a lifestyle. The bosses that control everything behind the scenes are called Elders. The Agency that is Cornwall Security works for a place that is often referred as the Organization. The Organization controls everything an Agent working for them does and that includes dating," Ms. Terra explained. "An Agent actually has to get the go ahead from the Elders in order to be able to date someone. Even children of Agent's are under the Organization's commands.
"Eve is the child of an Agent and I can't tell you who just yet but when Eve was seven years old she was sent to train underneath someone as an Assassin."
My jaw dropped and gave her a look of disbelief. "An Assassin? Why would your leaders want a seven year old to become an Assassin?"
"Eve is a Prodigy aka a natural born killer," Ms. Terra explained. "She was sent to kill someone and she was able to do it with no problems at all. Thing is she killed that person with her bare hands. Ever since that happened Eve was sent to train underneath someone to become an Assassin. Thankfully, because she was so young the Elders decided to just follow protocol instead and wait until she was sixteen to have her move up the ranks like normal Agents would.
"Right now she's a top Agent which is fine however, if she doesn't get married at least into a relationship by the end of the year they will have her resume her training to become an Assassin. The Elder's know all about your feelings for Eve, Levi. They also know that I'm dating Rachel. So they have given you guys two weeks to decide if you guys really want to be together or break the engagement. If you guys don't break the engagement by the end of the two weeks you'll have to say goodbye to Eve and you'll never be able to see her again…"
I gasped, "NO!"
Ms. Terra had a grim look and nodded. "Unfortunately yes, that's what the Elder's have decided and there's nothing I can do about it. The Elder's have been itching to be able to mold Eve into the perfect Assassin."
"We'll do it Friday then," Rachel said.
I blinked. "Wait, what? Friday, what if Eve isn't awake before then?"
Rachel shook her head. "It doesn't matter. And to be honest the sooner you break the engagement with me the better. I don't want to live my marriage as a lie because that's what we would be doing. We are adults and we shouldn't be letting our parents push us around anyway. I want to be with the woman I love and you want to be with the woman you love. You'll get to be with Eve and I'll get to be with my girlfriend."
"But what if she doesn't want to be with me?" I asked.
"After you guys break off your engagement I can ask the Elder's to draw up a marriage contract and she'll be married to you at least on paper," Ms. Terra said. "Eve will stick to it because she knows that once the Elder's have written a contract for her to sign she has to sign it and honor it unless she wants to be disciplined for not honoring it."
I tilted my head. "Disciplined? What type of discipline?"
Ms. Terra's face paled as if she was seeing a ghost. She deadpanned, "I've heard horror stories at the type of discipline that's been dished out to Agents before. One time one of the Agents was flogged over twenty times! And even though they healed they were still in recovery for a month after that."
I flinched. "Yikes!"
Ms. Terra nodded. "No kidding!"
"Anyway, Friday we'll break off the engagement and then Levi can start his love story with Evelyn," Rachel said. She smiled. "Levi and Evelyn's love story is going to be quite an interesting one…"
I smiled at the thought because little did I know Rachel was going to be absolutely correct.
