{Eve}
The next day for the second wedding ceremony and thankfully since the compound will be heavily guarded I doubt it'll turn out to be as much of a circus today as the first wedding day was. The last thing that I want is for one of the guards to open fire if one of the batshit crazy fans decides to try and ruin my dress at the reception.
I knew the ceremony at the compound was going to be different but I didn't realize how different it was going to be!
I smiled when I woke up to find Levi cuddling me as if he was trying to protect me in my sleep. I tried to move out of his grasp so I could go get ready for today but he tightened his grasp so I could barely move. "Uh, Levi? It's time to get up now."
"Hmm? Just five more minutes…" Levi mumbled.
"Aww how cute! But no, we have to get ready. The S.W.A.T team will be here around about 10am and I don't think you want them to walk in on us while we're not decent," I said.
Levi woke up and said, "Huh? They're not supposed to be here until 10am. What time is it?"
I looked at the alarm clock on the nearby nightstand. "It's 8:30am. We should at least start getting ready."
Levi groaned, "Fine. Let's take a shower first and get ready."
"Maybe we should take our showers separately?" I suggested.
"Why?" Levi asked.
"Because if we take our showers together then we'll start fucking each other like there's no tomorrow and we'll never get ready on time," I said.
"Good point. Good thing there's two bathrooms in here," Levi said.
I nodded and Levi reluctantly let go of me. After picking out a simple knee length off white dress I took a shower and got dressed.
Levi and I were able to grab a quick bite to eat while sitting at the café at the lobby of the hotel. A team of police officers came up to us and told us that the S.W.A.T team was here to escort us to our destination. It kind of caused a little bit of commotion outside because there were a couple of vans marked with the word S.W.A.T on them parked outside the hotel's front door. Once everything was said and done we were headed to the compound.
When we gained access to the compound where I lived they took Levi and I straight to the orphanage where I grew up. As soon as we entered the lobby I grinned when I saw two teenagers run to me. They were twins and their names were Arnold and Abby. Ever since I stopped living here and graduated from boot camp I made a resolve to visit the orphanage at least once a month. I wanted to make myself remember who I was and where I started.
"Hey Prodigy Ev! It's about time we saw you again!" Arnold cheered. He gave me a hug.
"It's Aunty Ev! Not Prodigy Ev!" Abby snapped. "And you're hogging her! Out of the way, it's my turn to hug her!"
I laughed as Abby hugged me. "How have you guys been?"
"We've been good!" Abby said, "As a matter of fact we'll be graduating from boot camp soon!"
"Oh really? How soon?" I asked.
"The end of the year. Oh by the way I heard you were getting married today!" Arnold said.
I nodded. I grabbed Levi's hand and said, "Arnold, Abby meet Levi Harriman!" I looked at Levi. "Levi, meet the twins Abby and Arnold."
"Hello Mr. Harriman!" Arnold and Abby said at the same time.
Abby gave Arnold an annoyed look. "Would you stop saying things at the same time as I do!"
"You're not the boss of me you brat!" Arnold growled.
"Alright you two that's enough! You guys can't help it because you're twins," I scolded.
Levi snorted. Arnold looked like he was getting to say something when we heard someone shout. "ATTEEENTION!"
"Looks like the Drill Master is calling," I said. "You might want to go take your place in line."
Abby and Arnold nodded and did as they were told. Levi looked at me and raised an eyebrow. "Drill Master?"
I nodded. "You'll see."
"Ah! Prodigy Evelyn! It's an honor to see you on your wedding day!" I heard a familiar voice say.
I smiled when I turned around and saw a young woman about my age wearing an olive green shirt and olive green pants that had black spots that looked like army wear. She had brown boots on and she smiled at me.
"Sergeant Liza!" I said as I ran to hug her.
She laughed, "It's been a while since I've seen you around here kido!" She looked at Levi and smiled. "And I'm going to assume that this handsome man is the husband?"
Levi nodded. "Yes I am."
"Okay then," Sergeant Liza pulled out a notepad. "Let's see here, oh yeah! That's right! I'm supposed to give you guys a tour of this place! And show you Prodigy Evelyn's class photos!"
Levi smirked. "Class photos? Now that will be interesting to see."
"In case you're wondering, Prodigy Evelyn grew up here until about the age of sixteen," Sergeant Liza said. "The kids here leave when they're sixteen for Cadet training right after they do bootcamp. Bootcamp starts at the age of fifteen and ends when they turn sixteen. Come on, follow me."
We walked down a hallway and stopped at a room that had a plaque that said Class-A on the door.
Levi looked at me. "Class-A? What does that mean?"
"Every room houses at least twenty kids but it's sorted out by the number that the kid gets assigned to them when they come here. The number helps keep track of the kid during their stay here," Sergeant Liza explained before I could answer. "Class-A is where just about every child who passes through our front doors to live here starts out as."
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
She took out a set of keys and opened the door. The room was filled with bunkbed's one row was lined up on the right side of the room and the other row of bunk beds were lined up on the left side of the room. As I looked around the room I noticed that it was empty. There were signs that kids lived here but it was empty other than that.
"In case you're wondering, the kids are at school," Sergeant Liza said.
"Oh," I said. Then I remembered something. "Is Trainer Michael here?"
Sergeant Liza's eyes went wide at first and then she said, "Yeah his post is still here unfortunately. He has a couple of other students that he trains on a regular basis but none of them are Prodigy's like you. We don't really utter his name around here much unless you want him to pop up. We have a saying around here that goes, 'If you speak of the devil he will come!'"
I grimaced. "Yikes! He's still that bad?"
Sergeant Liza nodded. "He started getting worse ever since you got assigned as an Agent."
"I see my reputation still precedes me!" I heard a familiar voice exclaim. I flinched when I saw him. He looked older of course but time did him well. He looked like an older version of me in male form. He had tan skin from being in the sun most of the day and green eyes like I do and black hair trimmed in a military style buzz cut. He still looked handsome as ever or at least that's what a lot of the girls at the orphanage described him, at least you saw how bad his temper is when he gets angry.
The reason why he looks like me is because he's my Uncle. I don't acknowledge him as my Uncle because he's more like a monster to me.
"And that's Uncle Michael to you Eve," Trainer Michael said.
"We may share the same blood but that doesn't make you family!" I scoffed.
"Oh I think it does! I practically raised you!" Trainer Michael said.
"No, the orphanage raised me, not you!" I said.
Normally I would've shrank back in terror when I saw Trainer Michael's eyes turn from green to dark red. But this time I didn't feel the terror that I felt as I did when I was a child. I felt anger.
As quickly as his anger came it disappeared and Trainer Michael had an amused look on his face. "Well, well, well it looks like your Demon Power has resurfaced after so long of being dormant. You know I warned your mother about marrying my older brother but now that you're in the picture I'm happy she picked him! Because now we have a Prodigy like you."
I didn't say anything but I did hiss at him. The hiss came out as if it were from a cat. Trainer Michael snorted. "Still feisty as ever I see. Two can play at that game."
Trainer Michael hissed and took a step towards me. Instead of taking a step back I stood my ground. In three long strides he was right in front of me and he grabbed my right hand. Taking my index finger in his hand he popped the finger out of its socket. I yelped in pain.
"I'm going to have so much fun breaking you in once the Elder's give me the go ahead to start training you again," Trainer Michael sneered. After he said that he popped my finger back into its socket and it healed itself.
Levi cleared his throat, "Excuse me Uncle but Eve and I have a second wedding ceremony to get to today and I would appreciate it that my wife arrives there in one piece."
"Not my Uncle!" I hissed.
"Honestly, I have to agree with Trainer Michael. You guys share the same blood therefore you guys are family," Levi said. "I know you two don't like each other but at least try to act civil with each other okay?"
"Okay, Trainer Michael, while this little family reunion has been fun and all I'm kind of on a deadline to show Mr. Harriman and Prodigy Evelyn everything that needs to be shown so…" Sergeant Liza said.
"Oh silly me, my manors seem to have gone out the window on my niece's wedding day," Trainer Michael said. He looked at me and smirked. "Sorry about that my dear. I shall be on my way now. Carry on."
He turned on his heels and left. When he left I looked down at my finger to see that it had a small scar next to my knuckle. It was the same scar that Trainer Michael put on me when I was seven years old and handled a gun for the first time. That was also the first time I killed someone.
I felt someone put a reassuring hand on my shoulder. I looked up to see Levi giving me a look of concern. "Are you alright?"
I nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine."
"Alrighty then!" Sergeant Liza said, "Let's get going because I wasn't kidding when I said we were pressed for time."
I didn't say anything but I did follow her and Levi down the hallway to our next destination.

I knew Eve had a hard upbringing. I didn't know how bad. But if Eve's meeting with her Uncle who was apparently her Trainer was any indication of how bad it was, then it was pretty bad. Ms. Terra did tell me that although Prodigy's are respected they're often treated like dirt by their trainers. The fact that her Uncle walked up to her, hissed at her and popped her finger out of its socket so casually was very telling.
Sergeant Liza sighed, "I know it's disturbing and all but that's just how things are around here."
I narrowed my eyes. "Just because that's the way things are around here doesn't make it right."
Sergeant Liza rolled her eyes. "Of course an outsider would say that! You haven't lived this life and with luck you probably never will so don't tell me what's right and wrong based on our cultural differences!"
I was going to say something but then I figured this argument would be rather pointless in trying to point out how stupid this logic is so I kept my mouth shut. I looked over at Eve and my jaw dropped when she just shrugged and nodded in agreement.
"Anyway, moving on," Sergeant Liza said.
We followed her down another hallway to an office that had a plaque on it that said the name Sergeant Liza. Once we entered Sergeant Liza sat at her desk and motioned for Eve and I to take our seats across from her.
"Now let's get down to business," Sergeant Liza said. She opened up a drawer under her desk and took out a handful of books. I counted the number of books silently and it was a total of sixteen books. Sergeant Liza smiled. "These books are yearbooks from all of the years that Prodigy Evelyn lived here."
I laughed when I looked over and saw Eve's face turn red.
"Do we have to show him those?" Eve asked.
Sergeant Liza snorted. "Why not? I personally think you were absolutely adorable when you were a kid! It's too bad I wasn't able to adopt you. For whatever the reason the Elder's didn't want you to be adopted out. From what I heard not even he who must not be named wasn't allowed to adopt you. It's weird because it's rare for the Elder's to order that for a child. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the fact that you're a Prodigy?"
Eve shook her head. "Tsk, I don't know but I wouldn't put it past them. From what Mother Terra's told me they've been gunning for me to start training to become an Assassin since the day I was born."
Sergeant Liza gasped, "I heard about that but I didn't think it was true!"
I cleared my throat, "So we're on a deadline right? Might not want to get too distracted from the task at hand."
Sergeant Liza nodded. "Oh right. Yeah, as I was saying before these are the yearbooks from the time Prodigy Evleyn spent here. Starting with this one."
She opened the yearbook to the page that had Eve's picture on it. She wasn't kidding when she said that Eve looked adorable when she was a kid. Her black hair was actually light brown and her smile gave her dimples. So cute! But I did notice something, even though Eve's eyes are green in this picture her eyes were red.
I tilted my head. "What's with the red eyes?"
"It's a side effect from one of Prodigy Evelyn's abilities," Sergeant Liza said.
"Let me guess, Demon Power?" I asked.
Eve nodded. "Yeah that's it. That must've been when it was active."
"I see," I said. Sergeant Liza proceeded to show the rest of the yearbooks and I smiled at each picture. But on the last yearbook instead of Eve having shoulder length hair, her light brown had turned black by this time, her hair was cut in a military style buzz cut.
"That's pretty much it," Sergeant Liza said.
An alarm went off and Sergeant Liza perked up. "Looks like it's time for you guys to go get ready for the ceremony!"
I nodded. "Alright then."
I stood up from my chair and Eve did the same.
"It was nice seeing you again Sergeant Liza," Eve said.
Sergeant Liza nodded. "It was nice to see you again too."
Eve and I left the room to go get ready for the second wedding ceremony.
