Walking over to racks where various wands and staffs laid, Lia chose a brown wand, with a red crystal embedded at the peak.

"Before anything, this staff, us mages use has a red crystal." Lia stated the obvious, taking a break, trying to formulate her thoughts. After all, teaching someone magic when they had no prior knowledge of it's existence wasn't the easiest.

"This red crystal, termed 'Amberite' helped us mages control and even amplifies our magic spells, only mages without the necessary funds won't have a wand." Lia explained before continuing, "Of course wands aren't the only form, staffs, daggers, swords, even broadswords can be used by mages."

Isaac stood rooted, taking note of every word Lia said. 'Unlike some magic worlds, it doesn't seem that in this world everyone fights from afar, shouting spells until the stronger one prevails.'

"However, some mages find themselves stuck, at the age of 13, mages can start their awakening, so many train in their preferred professions early on.

Sadly, however, mage affinities can be split into two groups,

Elemental Affinities and Augmentation Affinities.

Obviously, things aren't that simple as they can be split into tiny groups,

However, you can think of both groups as equal, none is stronger, nor weaker." Lia dropped a bombshell on Isaac, causing anxiousness to rise in his heart.

'I hope I have an Augmentation affinity, after all, I don't want to be in the back, I want to be in the front lines! Imagine using a sword to slice through hordes of enemies effortlessly!'

Seeing that Isaac was following and wasn't asking questions, Lia continued her explanation.

"With Elemental Affinities, you have the power to control the various elements of the World.

You can awaken a fire, water, or even earth affinity, However the true geniuses awaken higher tiered elements.

In our family records, people have even awakened space and time affinities!"

Isaac's expression slowly crumbled, 'How overpowered is that! The ability to control time and the very fabric of space?!'

"With Augmentation Affinities, you have the ability to strengthen your body to it's fullest extent, causing weak spells to not even harm the skin of the body.

Essentially, you are either a mage or augmenter."

Isaac slowly regretted his earlier thoughts, 'This doesn't seem balanced, after all, can you really strengthen yourself to the point that spacial attacks wouldn't even slightly affect you?'

"Mistress, can you please demonstrate magic to me, it still feels surreal." Isaac truly wanted to see magic spells in action, however, he had another intention.

"Sure." Taking Isaac's words granted, Lia headed to the center of the room, looking directly at the far target.

Holding her arm outwardly, with mana channeling through her nervous system to her palm, Lia inwardly chanted 'Fireball'.

From Isaac's perspective, it seemed as if a red, intricate circle appeared in front of Lia.

The magic circle had many lines, some intertwining with each other, while some sprouted separately from the others.

They all came together, however, to form a circle the size of a chest in front of Lia's palm.

As the magic circle glowed brilliantly, a mass of fire erupted, quickly approaching the target.

*Boom*

After the small explosion, Isaac turned to Lia, "Can magic spells only be used while standing?" Isaac curiously asked.

"Of course not, do you want another demonstration?" It seems the mistress was generous, perhaps due to Isaac's compelling features.

Seeing Isaac nod, Lia chanted another spell inwardly, 'Fire arrows',

Three groups of fire appeared behind Lia, quickly taking the shape of arrows.

Darting to right, Lia shot her arrows,

while chanting she was already moving forward.

Isaac, however, frowned, realizing, he quickly regained his composure. 'She was fast. Faster than any human I've seen, she seems to have an affinity towards fire, but she can move this quickly?

Are augmenters just defects of mages? They don't seem to have much going for them.'

"My lady, how are you moving so fast? Are you an Augmenter?"

"Pfft, gods no. However, the energy both mages and augmenters use, termed mana, allows for us to slightly strengthen our body every circle.

Mages can create magic circles near our hearts, every circle exponentially takes more mana than the last, however, we grow stronger, and our spells are amplified." Lia reassured Isaac.

Isaac, however, grew more troubled,

'So, mages can also strengthen their bodies... for Lia to say both sides to be equal, how strong are their bodies?'
