Although depicting that this was almost 100% an illusion, Isaac still treaded with caution.
In the village, many bodies, with certain organs ripped out were shown.
Knowing that his supposed daughter was here, he continued, not blinking at the sight.
Only his nose twitched, nobody wanted to smell blood, especially in large quantity like this.
The dreadful village only served to elevate his caution. Not knowing whether it was humans, a pack of beasts, or even a single entity, he looked everywhere, trying to find a single clue.
With it being an illusion made by the Academy, he knew that there was an objective to be accomplished.
Surprisingly, his watch was still on his forearm. Tapping on it, which caused it to activate, he saw a 10% on it.
Knowing that it was a percentage of something, he channeled his mana which came into contact with the watch.
Afterwards, he saw its internal spacial capacity. Brandishing the spear, which he took out via the Skyland watch, he wondered.
'Well if a mana ring can be used a storage space, why not a watch?' Isaac internally mumbled, deciding not to overthink the situation.
Regardless, with the spear in hand, he felt much more confident.
*Swoosh*
Feeling a gush of air, his senses alerted, causing him to jump, instinctively, he used Burst Step.
Afterwards, while still airborne, he heard a loud crash and the tumbling of something.
Surveying the area, he saw nothing, landing a second later, he quickly turned towards the noise he heard earlier.
What he saw caused him to grip his spear harder. The gust of wind he felt earlier was actually something akin to an attack, one from the very winds themselves.
Although, it looked extremely coordinated.
He saw, an already breaking down house, cleaved in three perfectly, the attack showed themselves to be in the form of a claw.
The cleaved house, however, somehow showed a mansion.
Knowing he would've never missed such an important detail; he knew that attack somehow revealed it.
Undauntingly, he walked towards the mansion.
Beforehand, however, he checked his watch.
20%.
Now he had a small idea of what the percentage meant.
If he thought of this illusion as a story, which it was indicated to be, the percentage would be how close he was to finishing the story, giving it an ending.
Shockingly, at this realization, he was given an influx of memories.
Not stopping his continuous movement towards the mansion even with the memories, it chuckled.
"Kukuku..."
----
After opening the large gate at the front of the mansion forcefully, he was finally inside.
Well, from what it looked like, he was in the garden.
Not finding anything suspicious, he continued, before finally reaching the front door and opening it.
Contrary to his expectations, the mansion was lit, although very dimly, somehow, this added even more eeriness to the situation.
Surprisingly, the smell of blood became even more putrid inside the mansion.
This content has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
With the illusion that the air was heavier due to the heavy smell of blood, he looked around.
Surely, his daughter was in this mansion.
At least, what was left of her.
Searching the all the rooms, he searched the last one which held a staircase.
During every room, there was at the very minimum, a corpse.
He looked everywhere, and unfortunately, he couldn't find any clues.
Heading upstairs, he was greeted with many rooms once again.
Continuing his cycle of searching with corpses spread around, he was getting tired of the smell.
'Ugh, I better finish this quick. The smell of blood isn't exactly enticing.'
Unfortunately, he reached the last room and found nothing once again.
He was already heading to other rooms, attempting to re-check them, however, finally, he noticed that there weren't any bodies in this room.
Knowing that it was like that for a reason, he stayed, surveying every possible object in this room. There were shelves of books, papers, feather ink pens, and even a bright chandelier.
Heading towards the numerous books, he looked at them intently.
Trying various methods, pulling them in and out, reading the names of the books, and then, reading the first letter of every book.
Surprisingly, the letters spelled a word, no, multiple.
'O, N, T, H, E, C, H, A, N, D, E, L, I, E, R... on the chandelier?'
Looking up quickly, he saw the chandelier he saw earlier.
However, he saw a demonic looking entity, chuckling at him, with tears coming out of its eyes.
It looked extremely displeasing to the eyes. Somehow, you could see its entire internal system. With two hearts, one with an evident hole, which he guessed it stole from a body, and with disgustingly re-arranged organs, Isaac felt the urge to puke.
Although he could get used to many things, a bestial being like this pushed a different type of button, one which wanted him to puke.
Weirdly, it pulled the chandelier downwards, causing him to think he threw it at him.
Disappearing completely, he noticed the chandelier rebounding up, as if it was attached to something.
*Rumble*
With dust falling of the roof, he saw an entrance at the other side of the room, showing a staircase that flowed downward.
Although he didn't like to follow the steps of another, he had to.
Nonetheless, he knew he wasn't the demonic beasts' match.
Not only did it completely disappear, that unless it had a space affinity, was much faster than him already, he guessed the attack from earlier was also from it.
After all, not only did it guide him just now, it also did earlier.
Steadily, he stepped down each stair, before reaching a solid, long surface.
Strangely, a flame lit atop a candle, giving him view of where he was.
A dungeon.
There wasn't any other word to describe what he saw.
Many chained bodies, already dead, locked in a cell, one that was completely forged in a black material.
*Hiccup*
Hearing the hiccup of someone who was apparently crying, he looked in their direction.
He saw a teenage girl, about 16, which was the same age of his otherworldly body, he somehow felt that it was his daughter in this illusion.
Seeing her, he felt the immediate urge to free her, not listening however, he looked at her.
Although crying, she still heard him went she came close, and she held his gaze before it immediately widened.
"Dad?!"
Not shaken, he asked, "What's your name."
"Da-"
"Answer."
Taking a gulp, she said. "K-Kathryn."
Hearing the familiar name, he put on a fake smile before looking worried, "My daughter, what happened?"
"Dad... a weird creature appeared in the village. It came from the forest, and we tried to make amends, however, i-it slaughter everyone. I don't know why it kept me alive... But dad, you can't fight it... you have to go."
Hearing its favoritism, he grew more cautious, however, he showed a sad expression.
"Kathryn, although I'm happy you're alive, I don't know why it's keeping you locked here, it's best we leave."
Without waiting for her response, he cut the metal alloy, letting her free.
Seeing his actions, she merely said, "O-okay..."
Like a father would, he covered her eyes, not wanting to show her the militated bodies.
With his guard at an all-time high, he guessed that he was to escort his daughter to safety to complete the illusion.
However, when push came to shove, the mysterious demon didn't show.
Reaching the front of the village, he felt a tug on his shirt from behind, looking back, he asked his daughter.
"Yes?"
"D-dad... I want to stay in this village... what would other people think of us if they found out?" Trying to convince her father, she spoke further.
"Wouldn't it be... better... if we could be all alone, together... just us."
With an overly obsessed tone, he saw her slowly transform.
With an oppressive aura, he felt as if he was facing a mountain as an ant.
However, his will remained firm.
'Fuck... how am I supposed to fight against such force?' Trying to find an answer, he thought back to every memory he received.
He was a father of an only daughter.
Unfortunately, his wife had dated.
Desperate to find a mother figure for his child, he sought a relationship with another woman.
Sadly, his daughter was unwilling, however, he didn't listen.
Afterwards, he finally felt like he found the one, even engaging, however, he heeded his daughter's condition first.
'She must've gotten news of her father's engagement.'
Unlike the courteous daughter he once had, now he had a crude, disgusting demon to gaze upon.
"My daughter... I'm sorry... forgive me." With a saddened tone, he acted weaker than before, even dropping his spear, however, he still touched her bloodied skin.
Feeling the sincere tone, she calmed herself, asking, "Do you agree to stay with me, father, as my one and only?"
Smiling, he said, "Yes." But he also internally said, 'Fire Palm.'
Any attacks wouldn't work against her, although she had no skin and he could easily impale her, she wouldn't let him due to the speed difference.
However, with him dropping his spear, she let her guard down.
"AHH!!" With the spiraling fire tormenting her body, she let out constant yells of pain.
From the watch, he heard.
[You have completed the [Illusionary Mist Trial] Congratulations.]
