"Nordhaben rebelled against the weakened Demon Lord. They wanted to differentiate themselves from the other species." Charlotte explains.
Isn't it ironic? The country that was the first to ally itself with Omega was the first to rebel too.
"Now they call us the Lesser Races, despite us ruling over them until now." Hana laughs at the thought.
Yeah. It sounds like they try to compensate for their inferiority with racism sprinkled in.
They're the same in my world so that is nothing new here.
"So once you can cast your spells, you'll advance into the second tier and become a wizard or a sorcerer." One of the Orcs explains.
"If you rely on others to do it for you, you're a Shaman or a Priest."
"Beyond that, the third tier for powerful casters is a Mage or a Warlock."
"Then we have the fourth tier with Saints or Demons."
"They reached the peak of what was possible for a mortal."
So the difference in name only denotes the species, not if they're good or evil.
I can guess what the next level is, and seeing what Alexandra's body could do, I'm not surprised.
"Gods are above and beyond these limits. From recent history, only Your Grace was powerful enough to earn this title. But powerful beings like those were around since time immemorial."
"To become a deity, one needs more than raw power. They need powerful artifacts, a sacred bloodline, or many followers."
All those Quicktagram celebrities come to mind, they'd love to hear this.
Subscribe and make me a deity!
YouCube would send their prayers, rather than the golden play button. Some of their most successful uploaders already act full of themselves.
It makes me wonder how many followers they talk about. How many does Alexandra have?
"That is why the Demon Lord couldn't reach that level while Your Highness did. Not even after unifying the entire Continent."
"Okay, but remind me how I did it." They spent so much time without explaining it.
"By cracking teleportation magic, of course." Comes the answer from Charlotte again.
"You freed yourself of the constraints of time and space. The College of Inquisitors recognized you as a deity."
Okay, wait, stop. What? System? Can I time-travel too?
[Notice: Not in a classic sense.]
"W-what does that mean?" I can't decide if I should ask them or the System, but I already said it out loud. "And what does it have to do with luck?"
[Notice: You earned your first followers in the gambling dens. The human nobles spread a rumor about you that you can bend their luck. That's also how the Demon Lord found you.]
I would have been better off not knowing that.
And what's this? Did the System also refer to me as if I was Alexandra?
That's a first. We all get confused now, going down memory lane.
And didn't they say that Omega picked the girls up after birth?
A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
How old was the Thirteenth Bride, and what did she have to do with gambling dens at that age?
"They recognized your talent to be above and beyond what's possible for a mere mortal." The Orcs continue on a different thread, so I'll have to ask about this later.
"And this was an opportunity for the Demon Lord to tie a Goddess to himself. And later to become a deity." Whoever says this, it rings a bell.
Right. Alexandra was one of the few Brides he never 'conquered'.
This means she kept proving herself rather than giving in to Omega. I can see where this is going.
Except, did he hope to become a God by fucking one? That sounds stupid.
But rather than pointing it out, I try to put the last pieces together.
"So he challenged me to enlarge the Gates or lay with him, and I choose the former." This is how I can sum up the disaster about to come.
"I failed, but he couldn't take advantage of it, because this led to a civil war."
"Indeed, Your Grace. But you ordered us to keep fighting for His Majesty against the traitorous humans." The way Charlotte says this it sounds like she disagrees.
"And we did with pride until you and the Demon Lord disappeared." This is Hana's voice.
It cracks at the very end, and I can tell they're reliving a trauma.
And so Alexandra disappeared into my world. She picked up programming for whatever reason, and they fled.
"The First Bride found the Demon Lord in a dungeon."
"As she was at the Saint-level herself, she sealed him in with his most loyal servants."
"Among them my little sister, Omerta," Hana interjects. Right, the witch I 'saved'.
"We didn't know you broke the Seal, Your Grace." This is Charlotte again.
"We wouldn't have doubted you if we heard about it."
She confuses me. Wait what? So the Seal broke now of all times?
I have nothing to do with it. I didn't even know it was a thing. And Alexandra couldn't do it either. When she wasn't with me, bumbling around in that granite mask, she was in my world.
Should I take responsibility or deny it?
For whatever reason, these guys seem to be fans of that psychopath. Despite that ominous name, the Demon Lord is the good guy here.
Hah, sure, as if. A womanizer asshole with who-knows-how-many wives. And as I picked up from the small details, he excommunicated me because of my second failure.
No, I mean Alex. He called Alexandra a traitor. I'm still not her, but I'm upset in her name.
It's no wonder that the System got confused too. Now that I get switched with the Goddess, I'll have to deal with the Demon Lord's Harem.
There are many things I still can't understand though.
Why did Nordhaben betray Omega, when they were the first to become his allies? The same First Bride I fought turned on her master. They're not telling me something still.
